Ava's Pov
I didn't sleep properly.
Every time I closed my eyes, I kept replaying small things from the day before. I hated the way I had to ask questions for things that should have come naturally to me. And I mostly hated the fact a random girl knew the things I didn't.
By the time I gave up on sleeping, it was still early.
I turned slightly. Olivia was still asleep.
Amanda wasn't in the room.
So, I stood up. I moved carefully, making sure I didn't wake her as I walked out into the hallway. The place was small enough that I could hear faint sounds from the kitchen. I followed it.
Amanda was already there.
She stood by the counter, pouring something into a cup. She looked up when she noticed me.
"You're awake," she said.
"I could say the same."
"I was about to bring this in," she said, lifting the cup slightly. "It helps her in the morning."
I stepped closer, looking at it.
"What is it?"
"Just something warm. It settles her before medication."
I nodded slowly.
