Chapter 2 - I Debut Against A National Team

"Reo,you're in."

"Huh?"

I looked around me. I seemed to be in a changing room. Across me sat a guy with a bowl cut, a neck long as a giraffe with goitre, and the general look of a malnourished stick. His voice was rough, coarse and kind of like he had a cold, but something in my memory told me he was always like that.

As I was gawking at him, a kinda tall guy with bangs covering both his eyes and his forehead (how the hell is he not blind as a bat?) with a black football uniform said," That asshole's good. Now I get why Itoshi Sae chose him. You," here he stared at me, or I think he stared at me, because how am I supposed to know when I can't see his eyes? "better focus on Shido more than the others. They're all fodder, but Sae and Shido're the real deal. Oh, and don't forget that guy with two eyes. He's got sweet vision."

Wait. Itoshi Sae? Shido? Is this...?

And then the headache came.

It lasted only for a brief second, but man, it hurt like hell. In that second, an avalanche of memories flooded in. I only saw some snatches though-

A guy with white hair saying 'Okay, boss' before scoring a goal. A guy with nerdy glasses rushing in the opposite direction before saying, "Hey, the toilet's that way, right?" Another muscular teenager looking like Ichigo from Bleach and a girl with long, red, flowing hair, both staring at me.

I came to an impossible, yet the only logical conclusion. I was in Blue Lock.

I mean, being a weeb after football rejected me, the concept of transmigration wasn't alien to me. I mean, actually I'd wished for this a couple of times, before dismissing the concept as a creation of deluded, childish manhwa artist. And here I was, in the flesh of a fictional character.

Considering that, Blue Lock was probably my dream anime to reincarnate into. I was a football genius, yes it sounds arrogant and narcissistic, but I was a football genius. I was rejected because of money, because of greed and corruption. Now on the other hand, I had a chance. I had a healthy body, and I was about to enter the field for the first time in years. I wasn't gonna turn back. I was gonna give it my all, and hope for the best at the end.

I suddenly realised that in my pain, I had buried my face in my hand. As I turn to face Ego and Niko, I saw the most impossible thing floating in front of me.

[ Congratulations Host, on transmigrating into the body of Reo Mikage in Blue Lock!]

A system screen. A fucking system screen. Like bro, this was a sports anime, right? Where'd it get so serious that the transmigration managers had to send in a system? You sure I didn't get it instead of some guy supposed to reincarnate in AOT. Man, I'd feel so guilty if that was the case.

And plus, did this system just say I'm Reo Mikage? As in the copycat? The guy who played as a support cast to McNagi Fryshiro. The guy who-

"Reo?"

-was the potential man of Blue Lock after Nagi-

"Reo!"

I stared past the screen to see a confused Niko and a sceptical Ego. "Yeah?"

"You going on or what?"

"Huh? Yeah, sure,sure,"

I put on my shoes, had a sip of water before heading out. It wasn't until I stood beside Hiori that I hesitated.

Until now, the system had told me about a bunch of things. Luckily, I could communicate telephatically with it, so I didn't look like a raving lunatic.

Straight off the bat, the system told me that it wasn't a communicative system. It was a quiet system that would answer questions if I asked them, otherwise it wouldn't keep yapping. Kinda nice, cuz I'm an introvert after all.

Second, it told me that the headache I had because of sudden memory injection had been postponed. However, the next time my head hit the pillow, I'd wake up with the most horrible hangover ever.

And third, and most importantly, the nature of this technique was a Perfect Copy System. It basically allowed me to copy any move I saw once, and recreate it perfectly. And when I say perfectly, I mean 100% copy. That's what makes me so overpowered. In the orignal anime, Reo could only create a 99% copy, and even that he couldn't do on the first try. Now, I could recreate any move as long as it wasn't too complex at 100% after only seeing it once. And even by 'complex' I meant world class players' moves in flow state.

Now, I had the tools, all I had to do was use them to get to #1.

"Scared?"

I looked beside me to see Hiori, grinning at me. And now I realise why yall Prosophobia fans obsessed with this guy. He truly is a femboy, and to some, he might even look kind of appealing. But I am straight, so... no.

"No," I responded, looking at the fans, cheering on both Blue Lock and Japan. "Its just that..." I broke off, "I'm scared of fucking up. Ego sent me specifically to negate Shido. If I mess up and let in a goal, it might be 'Game Over' for all of us."

"Yo, shut up," Hiori said. I look at him in disbelief. Is every egoist this brutal? "You're gonna be alright. They might be leading by 2-3, but they're just a bunch of no- name NPCs on this field that have to leech onto someone who doesn't even play for them, while we...are the main actors."

I shook my head in disbelief. "Ego and Isagi are really starting to have an effect on you with all those cringey speeches, huh?"

Hiori smiled, stretching. "Set the field on fire?"

I returned his grin, adjusting my hair. "Set the field on fire."

We bumped fists before stepping onto the field. As Hiori started to jog towards the center, I went towards the back.

"You good?" Aryu asked me.

"I'm fine," I assured him, taking my place as a centerback. From here, I could see a lot of stuff. Great, the more I can see, the more moves I can copy.

"And Blue Lock has subbed in two players- #16 Yo Hiori and #14 Reo Mikage! What spectacular moments are we about to see from this duo?"

Oh, you have no idea.

As the commentators shouted about Blue Lock's brilliantness( why shouldn't he?), I analysed my memory to remember every move I had seen so far in Blue Lock.

...

"Heck yeah," I thought, looking at the screen. Wasn't this too op?

The sound of the referee's whistle, declaring the continuation of the game, broke me out of my trance. I stopped trying to read the screen, and instead focused on the midfield.

3rd POV

Back there, Isagi had the ball. He dribbled past Hayate and did a feint before sending a long pass to Hiori. Seeing this, Darai prepared himself, and blocked Hiori's passing routes. Hiori did a marseille turn, turning his back to Darai, only to find Aiku blocking the remaining routes.

But Hiori didn't let that affect him at all. Looking unfazed, he feinted, turning his body towards Rin and prepared to pass. Instinctively, Aiku covered Rin and lowered his legs, preparing to jump. However, just as Hiori's foot seemed to miss the ball entirely, he instead moved his leg back and did a heel flick.

The ball soared overhead, and thousands of eyes locked into it, both of those on the field and off. Aiku and Isagi prepared to combat, but at the last second, Nagi did a header, pushing the ball upwards once more. Rin rushed towards the space between Niou and Aiku, planning to pass it back to Karasu and get a one-two back in the penalty box.

But Aiku was built different. He wasn't the star defender and captain of Japan's U20 team. After the Neo Egoist League, no one, and absolutely no one from the old Japan U20 made it to the new team, despite Ego giving them all a chance, except Aiku.

And the craziest part was, that he wasn't even selected by Ego. Instead Ubers, one of the best teams in the world, bid a massive 60 million yen which is approximately 376,000 US dollars, for him as a defender.

As Rin sprinted down, Aiku suddenly blocked him, almost throwing him off balance. Rin stumbled, but held on. Aiku took advantage of this moment to get a heel pass to Niou.

Isagi protested making a diagonal run, but Aiku blocked him as well, gving Niou enough time to make a one two with Neru, and then preparing to pass it to Sae.

Dammit, almost all players on the Blue Lock Eleven thought. If he gets it to Sae, he'll create another attack with Shido. Even if our defense somehow clears it, he'll probably have another plan to keep the attack alive!

Karasu tried to block, gesturing for assist, which Yukimiya promptly provided. As he did so, Hayate slammed into Blue Lock's Assassin from behind, making him stumble. Hayate picked up the loose ball, and sent a high pass towards Sae's direction.

"Damn!"

"If he gets it, it's over!"

Bachira, Karasu and Yukimiya rushed to cover Sae and tried to cover all his passing routes. However...

"Ugh, half baked amateurs trying to block me. Man, its almost not worth playing this game at all."

Sae trapped the ball, feinted towards the right, before edging his body towards the left. Seeing this, Yukimiya lunged, hoping to snatch. However, he had either forgotten Sae's experience as a midfielder, or believed that even "Japan's Greatest Treasure" had limits. Either way, Sae proved him wrong, instead going for an elastico, before edging out towards the right.

"Huh? A double feint?!"

"This guy...what-"

Bachira shook his head, trying to put away the confusion in some corner, and ran towards Sae, while Karasu went back, gesturing for Shido to be blocked while he went for Sendo. Otoya took the hint and began to body Shido, only to be pushed back himself.

Back on the right, Bachira challenged Sae, and tried to snatch, only for him to go for a hyperspeed scissors, and then send a curved pass to Hayate. Hayate dribbled before being challenged by Nagi. Desperate, he kept the ball on the ground, aware that if he sent it up, Nagi's trapping skills would outmaneuver him, and after that, there was no getting the ball back unless Sae came into the picture.

He looked around for a suitable passer, Aiku and the Iron Wall Defense was too far, plus everybody on Japan's side was being closely guarded by Blue Lockers. Up front, Sendo was with Karasu, Shido with Otoya, and Cho with Aryu. Kitsu Nezato was far behind, and while Hayate had decent passing skills, on this field, they fell short to pull off a pass like that. In spite of all that, Hayate's eyes found him- Itoshi Sae sneaking onto the perfect spot.

Hayate shook his head. What else did I expect from an egoist like him? Of course he set me up.

But he wasn't the only one. Karasu saw it first, then Bachira who sprinted. It was already too late, though. Hayate had already made the pass, and Sae did a hocus-pocus to get rid of Bachira. On the other side, Shido slammed Otoya away, and made a diagonal run towards the penalty box.

Sea dribbled through Bachira and Karasu, before sending a high pass towards Shido. Aryu made a beeline, but Cho blocked him with his hand.

"Dammit!"

"With this, I won't be able to reach him in time!"

"Shido's jumps are no joke, he'll probably go for a bicycle kick!"

On the other end, Aiku's grin widened and even Sae's eyes softened back to their usual bored way, probably planning whether he was gonna have steak after he won the match.

However-

"Man, you all acting like main characters. Did I seriously get forgotten?"

"Huh?"

Shido looked up to see a certain purple haired figure up in the air next to the ball. A purple serpent started to form around him and the ball, as he looked down at them coldly with a smirk blooming on his face.

"Wait, isn't that.." began Isagi.

"...my move?!" Aiku thought in disbelief. "How did this guy...?"

On the midfield, Karasu grinned. "That's right! This guy's weapon-"

Sae began to run towards the penalty box, while Shido jumped in the air, but it was no use, as Reo headed the ball.

"-is being able to copy the weapons of others!"

AN-

I did not mean for this to be so long, but well...
