Chapter 76 - Chapter 75: Teio's Turn

Her internal alarm pounded silently.

Gold Legend awoke.

Waking naturally—happy, blessed.

I love Sundays!

She pushed back the warm quilt, sat up groggily, rubbed her eyes, ruffled hair tumbling as she stretched. Half-asleep, she shuffled to the bathroom by muscle memory to wash up.

Change, out the door for a morning run.

Run finished, back to the dorm, another wash, fresh clothes.

Bed made, desk tidied, broom in hand, she cleaned while mapping the day ahead.

Training—Sunday, none.

Eat with Oguri Cap—day after tomorrow.

Shopping Street teasing Nature—done yesterday; loot: cheap daily goods, some groceries.

Report to Student Council—Air Groove Senior's back, unnecessary.

Gold Family team-building—done for the month.

Suzuka's jogging invite? Special Week's already in, so skip.

Miss Gold City's exclusive modeling gig—she's swamped, pass.

Urara's race cheer squad? Nothing scheduled today.

Miss Tachyon's lab invitation—hard pass.

Manhattan Cafe Sister's barista course—finished the day before yesterday.

Last stop: Police Station check-in—already ticked off this month.

A compulsive quest-clearer at heart, Gold Legend exhaled in bliss.

…Still, why does my daily list keep growing?

Whatever, not important!

Right, only one main quest left today—Mejiro Family gathering!

Reward forecast: faction rep +10, friend affection +10, social EXP +200, high chance of rare sweets & black tea, low chance of souvenir item.

Humming happily, Gold Legend swept the curtains open.

BOOM!

Thunder cracked, rain bucketing down.

"…Nice, dorm gaming it is!"

A cozy solo weekend sounded perfect.

She re-shut the curtains, spun toward her new PS5, and prepped to roam the Lands Between.

While the console booted, Gold Legend fished a cup-noodle from under the bed.

Food first—no one conquers on an empty stomach.

"Yep, braised beef is king! Let's go!"

Knock-knock-knock.

Just as Legend inhaled the last noodle, the door sounded.

"…"

Who ruins the sacred moment before a game launches?

Eyes narrowed, Legend stalked over.

"Who's banging at dawn?"

She yanked the door open, glanced out—no one.

"?"

Legend tilted her head. Some prankster?

"Ugh… ugh!"

A frustrated squeak rose from below.

She looked down: perky ponytail, crescent-white streak.

"…Miss Tokai Teio? Why are you soaked—fall in a river?"

Legend stared at the water-ghost that was Tokai Teio.

"Waaah, Legend, listen!"

Teio lunged, burbling words only half-formed.

"Inside first." Legend tugged her in. "Hot bath before you freeze."

"Mm…"

Legend shoved her into the bathroom, started the water, then rummaged for fresh towels… "Um… Legend… no clothes."

A freshly washed Teio peeked out, cheeks pink.

"Wear mine for now. What's your size?"

Legend sighed, heading for the wardrobe.

"77, 54, 76."

Teio rattled it off, then eyed Legend.

"What are yours, Legend?"

Out of nowhere.

"Hmm? B:80 W:55 H:78, why?"

Legend answered without hesitation.

"We're almost the same." Teio glanced down. "So why do you look way sexier?"

"…Height and aura?"

Legend handed over unopened underwear and a brand-new tracksuit.

"You're barely taller!" Teio huffed.

"One-centimeter big sis," Legend teased.

"…Grr!"

Changed, Teio shuffled out.

"It's baggy," she muttered.

Oversized clothes framed her petite frame, fragile and endearing.

Add her timid fidgeting and the protective instincts kicked in hard.

"Adorable, Miss Teio," Legend cooed.

"Hmph! I'm Tokai Teio, after all!" She struck a proud pose.

"Shoulder's slipping." Legend adjusted the collar. "Now, what happened?"

She led Teio to the bed to listen.

"So: you left for the Student Council, rain hit, you locked yourself out and your roommate's gone?"

"It's like this…" Teio lowered her proud head.

"Then why don't you go to the Dorm Head?"

"…There's actually a way like that?!" Teio looked as if she'd just discovered some hidden cheat code.

"…Sigh."

"So, are you still going? To the Student Council."

"Forget it. A sudden cloudburst can't be helped, and the president can be visited anytime. It's not like I was looking forward to it at all!"

Teio puffed her cheeks, turned her gaze aside, and her voice gradually faded.

So easy to read.

Gold Legend arched a brow, giving an auntie-worthy smile.

"…Why are you looking at me like that!"

Teio's cheeks puffed even more.

"Nothing. Perfect timing—want to play together?"

"Eh?"

"I'd planned to explore the Lands Between solo today, but since Teio's here, let's team up. Speaking of which, I bought It Takes Two and never even booted it."

"Isn't that last year's game? Why haven't you played it, Legend?"

"…You just jabbed right where it hurts."

"What's that supposed to mean? Whatever, I, Teio, forgive you—let's play!"

"Yes, yes, thank you for the grace of the mighty Tei-bao."

"What the heck is 'Tei-bao'!"

Well, there goes my perfect single-player weekend.

Watching Teio's delighted face, Legend couldn't help but think.

"Hurry up, dummy Legend!"

"Yeah, yeah."

Seeing Teio's radiant smile, Legend's tiny regret melted away.

But this isn't so bad either, is it?
