"Campus Open Day?"
Gold Legend peeked her head out from behind a pile of documents.
"Ah, it's Tracen's annual public open day, mainly aimed at Uma Musume who haven't undergone actualization yet," Rudolf explained with a smile.
"I know that, but I mean, is this something our Student Council handles?" Legend asked, confused.
"Well, the Chairman has never really paid much attention to these things, and Miss Hayakawa is gradually stepping back from management. In this situation, we're trying to figure out how to handle many tasks," Rudolf said with a troubled expression.
"Can't we just leave this to the Trainers? They'll be mentoring them later anyway, so it's good for them to meet beforehand," Legend complained.
"Well, the Trainers don't have that much time or energy."
"Then let the Trainer teams help out," Legend suggested after thinking. "Just have them draw lots to decide."
"...That actually sounds feasible," Rudolf said, looking like she had just discovered a new continent.
"Even if it is, that's for next time. This Open Day still has to be run by the Student Council."
I've already made all the arrangements.
Air Groove interjected into the conversation.
"...Fine," Legend pouted helplessly.
"Don't worry, no one in the Student Council is getting out of this one. I guarantee it," Air Groove said calmly... "Tch, what a bother," Narita Brian grumbled, holding a sign with a look of distaste.
"Now, now. Bringing dreams and hope to children is also an Uma Musume's responsibility," Maruzensky said gently. "Make sure to welcome them properly."
"Maruzensky Senior is surprisingly serious," Mr. C.B. teased.
"Well, in any case, everyone do your best," Rudolf said with a smile.
"Understood." Everyone dispersed on the spot.
Narita Brian took her sign and went to guide visitors.
Maruzensky, who looked the most amiable, went to hand out flyers.
The rest headed toward their respective assigned areas.
The area Legend was responsible for was from the Main Hall to the Courtyard.
Initially, Legend wasn't very enthusiastic, as human children usually only managed to provoke her killing intent.
Unfortunately, the ones who came were Uma Musume children.
"Wow, Big Sister is so pretty."
"Big Sister, Big Sister, what is that?"
"Can I become an Uma Musume like Big Sister someday?"
Then Legend lost herself amidst the continuous calls of "Big Sister."
"To resort to this tactic, how despicable!"
Having passed the peak period and finally catching her breath, Legend began to reflect.
To be swayed by such slightly exaggerated praise—she was still too young.
But the sincere, sparkling eyes of the children couldn't be faked.
"The future, huh..."
Am I currently doing something greedy?
"Waa!"
A faint sound of sobbing reached her ears.
Legend turned her head to look.
It was a petite and adorable black Uma Musume.
"Oh my, why are you here? The main group has already reached the Training Grounds."
Did she get separated?
"Um, excuse me, I... I got lost and missed the assembly time. I'm late," the Little Uma Musume said nervously.
Seeing the Little Uma Musume looking like she was about to cry, Legend sighed and shook her head.
"I'll give you the tour. Make sure to stick close this time," Legend offered her hand.
"O-okay," the Little Uma Musume timidly grasped the hand extended to her... "First is the Main Hall. This is the center of the Academic Building, and we'll basically pass through here on the way to all the places we're going," Legend said, leading the Little Uma Musume to the Main Hall. "There are tables and sofas here. When there are no classes or training sessions, you can come here and meet lots of Uma Musume."
"Oh! That's amazing!"
"Not only that, but if there's an event, this place gets decorated beautifully. It's a scenic spot you must see at Tracen."
"Mhm!"
And next is the next location.
"This is the Library. Because of the Uma Musume's interests, it mainly holds books on academic research and literature. Although there are books on subjects like mathematics, they are few in comparison," Legend lowered her voice. "Also, you must be quiet in the Library."
"Mhm," the Little Uma Musume replied softly.
"Ara, Legend-san? What are you doing?" an elegant voice whispered.
"Oh, McQueen. As you can see, I'm giving a tour during the Open Day," Legend replied softly. "Huh? *How to Attract Her Gaze*? McQueen, you read books like this?"
"!? I—I was just looking!" McQueen hid the book behind her back, her voice sharp.
"Silence, please!" The Library Administrator warned them.
"Ah, I'm sorry!" McQueen quickly apologized.
"...Let's go to the next place," Legend said to the Little Uma Musume, blinking.
"...Okay," the Little Uma Musume also blinked, replying timidly... "This is the Swimming Pool, mainly used for endurance training," Legend said, bringing the Little Uma Musume to the new location.
"That's amazing, there's even a Diving Platform," the Little Uma Musume looked up at the quite high Diving Platform.
"You can try it if you want, just be careful not to slip or bump yourself."
But you have to change into a swimsuit first.
"No, no need! I can't swim!" the Little Uma Musume said nervously.
"If you can't swim, you can use a kickboard. It's fine."
The Little Uma Musume was about to say something else, but her attention was drawn to the situation nearby.
"Hey, what are you doing?! Can your tears save your weight?! Jump down, Spe!"
A tall Gray Coat Horse Girl wearing Sunglasses and holding a megaphone yelled.
"No Way! Absolutely No Way!!!"
A wail came from the Diving Platform.
"Spe-chan, hang in there!" A Large Carrot stood next to the Gray Coat Horse Girl, cheering for the Uma Musume above.
"...Let's go to the next place," Legend silently pulled the Little Uma Musume's hand, preparing to leave.
"Big Sister, do you know them?"
"No, I don't know them," Legend said solemnly... "Next, this is the Courtyard, a good place to relax and unwind," Legend introduced, then pointed to a corner. "There's a Tree Hollow there, used as a spot for people to vent their pain and regret."
The Little Uma Musume looked over, and a Red Twin-Tails was roaring furiously at the Tree Hollow.
"Damn it!!!! I will definitely win next time!! I won't let her have first place!!!"
"Oh," the Little Uma Musume nodded, half understanding... "And finally, here!" Legend pulled the Little Uma Musume toward a statue. "Ta-da! The most important place at Tracen Academy! The statue of the three goddesses!"
"Oh!"
"If you have any wishes, you can try making one to the Three Goddesses," Legend said with a smile. "Maybe the great goddesses will favor you and help make your wish come true."
"Really?"
"Really!"
The Little Uma Musume eagerly prayed to the statue of the three goddesses.
Legend also looked at the statue with a smile.
Come to think of it, although I often pass by here, I've never really taken a close look at the statue of the three goddesses.
In the game, this place seems to be where factor inheritance happens, right?
"Yosh!" The Little Uma Musume finished her prayer.
"Ara, what did you wish for?"
"Nothing," the Little Uma Musume shook her head. "Big Sister, aren't you going to make a wish?"
"I don't really have any wishes I want granted," Legend said with a smile.
Before, she might have thought about whether she could go back, but after experiencing so much now, she wasn't so sure anymore.
Shaking her head, Legend continued, "Besides, even if I had a wish, I should use these hands to seize it myself."
"...That's amazing! Just like a hero!" The Little Uma Musume's eyes sparkled.
"A hero? I'm not a hero," Legend said helplessly. "Hmm, if I had to say, I'm more of a cute and charming villain."
Do you understand the value of forcing several G1 Uma Musume into retirement in a single race? Tactical lean back.jpg.
"But Big Sister really is like a hero from a story—cool and strong!"
"Am I cool?"
"Very cool!"
"Hmph! I'll accept your compliment," Legend rubbed her nose. "Do you like heroes very much?"
"Yes!" the Little Uma Musume said with a smile. "I want to become a hero!"
Childish words, innocent eyes.
"...Why do you want to become a hero?"
"Mom says that heroes can bring dreams and hope to everyone!" the Little Uma Musume said happily. "I want to become that kind of person! Just like you, Big Sister!"
"...I'm no hero."
I have no way of bringing hope and dreams.
"But didn't you reach out your hand to me, Big Sister?"
"..."
"I was very scared just now, but Big Sister reached out your hand to me," the Little Uma Musume said with a smile. "Because of you, Big Sister, I'm not scared anymore. So, Big Sister is my hero."
"In the future, I want to become someone like you, Big Sister."
"..."
What is this feeling?
An unnamed emotion is surging within me.
"Heroes aren't that simple. As you said, only those who bring dreams and hope are heroes, and only someone that powerful can be called a hero."
"Are you not a hero, Big Sister?" The Little Uma Musume lowered her head in disappointment.
"No." Legend shook her head, then revealed a smile.
An unprecedented smile.
She had never smiled this gently before.
"But, I want to become your hero."
"I promise you, I will become even, even stronger."
"Strong enough to become someone worthy of being a hero."
"To bring dreams and hope to everyone."
The Little Uma Musume looked at Legend, her eyes shining brightly again.
"It's a promise, okay?"
"Yeah."
The Little Uma Musume smiled very happily.
Now, I really have no choice but to work hard.
"Let's go, it's time to go to the next place." Legend took the Little Uma Musume's hand again.
"Okay."
"Come to think of it, I still don't know your name."
"Me? My name is Deep Impact!"
"...?" Legend looked at the Little Uma Musume, smiled, and said, "You will definitely become a hero."
"Will I?"
"You will."
"Then what is your name, Big Sister?"
"You don't know? I've been quite famous lately."
"I don't know."
"Then you better remember it well. My name is Legend, Gold Legend. As my name suggests, I am a Legend."
