"Makarov, the future of the Fairy Tail guild is in the hands of you young people. My generation has finally grown old."

After Makarov drove off with Ide and the others in the Magic Four-Wheeler, Warrod Sequen waved his hand, instantly transforming ten miles of barren desert into a lush oasis. Standing in the newly grown forest, he looked up at the twinkling stars in the night sky, his eyes full of expectation for the future.

Yes, in the eyes of the century-old Warrod, Makarov—who had just celebrated his seventieth birthday this year—was still a young man in his prime, ready to take on the world.

Makarov: "Are you serious?"

By the way, Ivan, whom Ide had punched deep into the desert, was eventually rescued by the kind-hearted Warrod.

Warrod not only healed Ivan's injuries but also bought him a train ticket back to Magnolia for the overnight train.

---

The next morning.

Magnolia Town.

Cough, cough.

Coughing constantly, Ivan dragged his exhausted, weary, and aching body to the Fairy Tail guild. He pushed open the heavy doors with effort...

Just in time to see his old father, Guild Master Makarov, standing on the podium and announcing: "I declare this year's S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial successfully concluded! The passer is... Ide."

"As expected, it's Ide?!"

After Makarov announced the winner of this year's trial, the Fairy Tail wizards present all wore expressions that said, "I knew it."

"It can't be helped. Ide is the man who fought our guild's strongest wizard, Gildarts, to a draw!"

"Indeed. Ide's strength is in a completely different league from ours."

Even Macao and Wakaba, the perennial runners-up of the S-Class trials, looked resigned and admiring.

If Ide took the S-Class title this year, they accepted it wholeheartedly.

"Damn you, Ide."

"You stole all my thunder."

Standing at the guild entrance, Ivan ground his teeth so hard they nearly shattered. He glared at Ide, who was basking in the praise of the entire guild, consumed by a jealousy that drove him mad.

"Father, did you lose?!"

Just as Ivan seethed in helpless jealousy, young Laxus sidled up to him and asked quietly.

"Hmph."

"Ide, that despicable villain, used some underhanded tricks to steal this year's S-Class title from me."

"It doesn't matter, Laxus! Next year, your father will definitely pass the guild's S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial."

"As for that guy Ide? Let him be smug for a year. He won't be smug for long."

Ivan still wanted to maintain some dignity in front of his son. He acted as if he had been cheated out of the title and made some excuses to save face.

"I knew Father wouldn't lose."

Innocent as he was, Laxus naturally believed his father's words. He clenched his fist and cheered Ivan on. "Father, I believe that next year, you will definitely pass the S-Class trial smoothly!"

"Mmh."

Ivan clasped his hands behind his back, trying to look less pathetic, and nodded firmly. "Don't worry, I'll win."

---

Time flew by.

In the blink of an eye, a year passed.

It was now the year X766.

Throughout the year, Ide and Ur continued to complete various S-Class subjugation missions for the guild with extreme efficiency. As a result, both of them made names for themselves throughout the Kingdom of Fiore and even the continent of Ishgar.

They were known as "Absolute Zero" Ide and "Extreme Cold" Ur.

Besides missions, Ide maintained his habit of challenging Gildarts to sparring matches whenever they were free, using the fights to improve his own strength.

Because of this, Ide and Gildarts were frequently warned by the Magic Council ERA.

As Councilor Torg put it: "If I didn't already know you two had no malicious intent, I would have issued subjugation orders for you both just for blasting several kilometers of land into the sky every other week!"

While Ide and Gildarts steadily improved, Ur also kept busy. After completing S-Class missions, she would often drive thousands of kilometers to the place where Warrod lived in seclusion. She trained under Warrod Sequen, a powerhouse who had painstakingly cultivated for a century, stepping from "mortal" to the "Inhuman Realm" one footprint at a time.

In Ur's eyes, Ide and Gildarts were monsters beyond normal comprehension—one was a pure "hacker" (Ide), and the other was a guy who was basically hacking without actually hacking (Gildarts).

By the way, Gildarts experienced a lot this year. The most critical event was his marriage... and subsequent divorce.

Yes, Gildarts, being the absolute scumbag he was, didn't curb his wandering ways even after marriage. Not long after tying the knot, he ran off on an adventure again!

When he finally returned home, he found a letter left by his wife, and she was gone.

This hit Gildarts hard. The scumbag pestered Ide for sparring matches for over a month before he finally started to recover from the shadow of his divorce.

---

And so.

December arrived.

It was time for another S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial.

This year, there were four S-Class candidates: Ivan, Macao, Wakaba, and Ur.

"Good luck, Father!"

Seeing that his father Ivan was unsurprisingly selected for the S-Class trial again, Laxus cheered for him with immense excitement.

"Don't worry, I am the strongest."

Ivan gave Laxus a reassuring look. He had trained bitterly for a whole year, and his strength had improved significantly. He was not the same man he was a year ago.

And then, during the S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial, Ivan was insta-killed by his opponent, Ur.

"Sorry about that, Makarov's son."

After freezing Ivan solid, Ur apologized apologetically.

"I have a name."

"I am not just someone's son."

"My name is Ivan. Ivan Dreyar."

Frozen in ice, Ivan stared at Ur with a livid face, using his last bit of strength to state his name.

---

And thus, following Gildarts and Ide, Fairy Tail welcomed its third active S-Class wizard—Ur Milkovich.

Yep, the "invincible" Ivan fell once again.

Four consecutive years of defeat made Laxus start to look at his father with a hint of scrutiny.

Young Laxus watched the defeated Ivan and wondered in confusion: "Father failed again! Is my father actually weak?"
