Chapter 200 - Chapter 200: Evolution and Success

As the group chatted idly, Fred continued with his work, and text quietly appeared before his eyes.

[MA Operation +0.05]

[MA Operation (Beginner) 100/100]

[Aerospace Engineering - Proficient↑]1

User Comment:

Isn't it MA Operation?

[Reward: Spider Sense]

"Spider Sense?"

Looking at this somewhat familiar yet unfamiliar term, Fred was momentarily stunned before understanding dawned on him.

Then, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl upward.

This is a good thing.

If it's universally applicable, it means his ability to sense danger has greatly improved.

Although he always makes thorough plans for every action, it doesn't mean there are absolutely no risks.

And this skill can significantly enhance his ability to handle crises.

Staying alive is the greatest asset.

Thinking this, Fred quickly suppressed the excitement in his heart.

This wasn't a critical moment, and he had no intention of revealing his piloting abilities.

It would be enough to quietly improve from now on.

As for this ability, he had no plans to publicize it either.

Quite the opposite.

When it came to matters concerning his own life, he would never breathe a word to anyone.

He could devise assassination plans against others, and others could do the same to him.

So, keep a low profile and reap the benefits.

With his mind at ease, Fred continued his work maintaining the space colony without pause.

Now he could afford to ease up a bit on his MA practice.

Improving his MS skills was the key.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to pilot an MS in the future.

As for MAs, unlocking this skill and having Red Uniform-level piloting ability were sufficient for now.

From now on, he could switch to using powered armor more often for maintaining the space colony.

Planning in his mind, Fred quickly calmed his excitement.

It would soon be 68, and although there seemed to be no signs of attacks on Mendel recently, it was time to remind Siegel.

After all, he'd heard that Durandal's research institute was making good progress lately, so there was still time to withdraw all the researchers and spies there.

As for whether to save or evacuate them, Fred had no intention of interfering.

The situation there had little to do with his interests anyway. If it weren't for his current cooperative relationship with the Clyne Faction, he wouldn't have said anything at all.

Next year would be fine, but by 69, conflicts might intensify, and the issue of Blue Cosmos assassinating the Moderate Faction would need to be addressed.

Then, war would likely break out.

Thinking this, Fred narrowed his eyes.

War would mean many deaths.

But the trends of this world had become clear over the years.

Driven by public sentiment and the interests of groups like Blue Cosmos, whether to fight or not was not up to him.

Of course, his original plan remained unchanged.

He still needed to increase the actual influence of the Moderate Faction.

Control the intensity of the war.

He couldn't save everyone, and he had no intention of carrying such a heavy burden alone.

After mentally planning out the events of the past few years, Fred once again felt a sense of urgency welling up from deep within.

Seeing that the space colony had fully restored its durability, Fred spoke up.

"It's about time. Let's head back."

"Alright."

Everyone responded in agreement.

However, as soon as they returned to the port and docked the work pod, a small, pink figure floated over.

"You've all worked hard."

Lacus's smile remained as sweet as ever. After suppressing their surprise and responding, everyone followed Lacus's gaze toward Fred, their eyes carrying a hint of ambiguity.

This was the first time Lacus had come over, and it was easy to guess who she was looking for.

"Do you think Lacus might have feelings for Brother Freed?"

Nicol couldn't help but ask as they floated toward the changing room together.

"Boring."

Yzak snorted lightly, though the corner of his eye subtly glanced backward.

As everyone knew, Yzak was now a fan.

"Hmm..."

Athrun didn't answer, feeling somewhat uncertain, especially since his brother's identity was rather sensitive.

Of course, if his brother really decided to stay here, he would be more than welcome.

He just didn't know where Kira was or what he was doing now.

Thinking about the increasingly chaotic situation lately, Athrun's eyes also held a touch of nostalgia and melancholy.

Meanwhile, Lacus had now arrived in front of Fred.

Half a year had passed, and the girl had grown taller, much like Flay, becoming increasingly statuesque.

In Fred's eyes, she was gradually taking on the gentle and charming appearance he remembered.

However, perhaps because he had watched her grow up, Fred felt largely immune to her charm.

"Is there something you need, Lacus?"

Fred didn't think Lacus had floated over here just to chat.

"The adoption was successful."

Lacus said, placing her terminal in front of Fred.

On the terminal screen was a photo of a family of three—Durandal holding Talia, who in turn held a one-year-old child in her arms.

It looked like a picture of deep affection and tranquility.

It also made Fred breathe a sigh of relief.

Of course, there were still many issues—whether they could truly become a loving family of three, whether Durandal would abandon his Destiny Plan because of the child.

In short, numerous problems remained.

But with the Clyne Faction keeping watch, there was no need to worry too much for now.

"Thank you."

Fred replied earnestly.

"It's nothing."

Lacus shook her head, then added slyly.

"Of course, if you tell me more about Durandal, I wouldn't mind."

"...It's not the right time yet."

Fred smiled wryly.

Lately, Lacus had often asked about this, but he didn't know how to explain.

After all, he couldn't explain how he knew.

Lying would only make her aware.

And how much to say was also a problem.

What impact would revealing Lacus's background have?

He couldn't be sure.

So, in Fred's view, at least until he grew stronger, the future became clearer, or the time came to take action against Ola and the Coordinators, he could tell her.

"Then when will it be the right time?"

Lacus did not gently release this time, but instead chose to drift closer a few more inches.

The delicate fragrance belonging to a young girl quietly drifted into his nose.

Their gazes met, and he could clearly see his own reflection in Lacus's eyes.

And Lacus, although speaking serious words, still maintained a calm expression on her face, appearing as if she was merely chatting with him about everyday matters.

"...Once the world situation stabilizes a bit."

Fred conceded a step.
