Chapter 2 - BHMS Chapter 2: The Perfect Debut

At the same time, on the ground.

"Cap! We can't hold them! There are too many of these alien bastards!" a police officer yelled into his comms, hiding behind a patrol car.

Captain America, Steve Rogers, smashed a Chitauri soldier away with his shield, panting, "Hold on! Stark is trying to find a way to close the portal!"

"He better hurry!" Black Widow, Natasha, shouted over the comms. "I see another 'big guy' coming through!"

Just then, the Hulk was hit by a dense barrage of energy blasts. He roared furiously, but was temporarily suppressed.

A squad of Chitauri flyers noticed the gap in the defenses. They lowered their altitude, aiming their cannons at the cover where the Captain and the police were hiding, their muzzles beginning to gather an eerie blue energy.

"Down!!" Steve yelled, raising his shield.

He was ready to receive the impact.

However, the expected explosion never came.

"...Hmm?"

Steve looked up in confusion.

He saw a pair of... red boots.

The boots were quietly suspended about three meters above their heads.

A man.

A man in a blue spandex suit floated silently in the air, completely still.

Meanwhile, the Chitauri flyer squad that was preparing to attack had already been sliced in half, burning as they crashed to the ground behind him.

"Wh-who is that?" The policeman hiding behind the car peeked out, jaw dropped.

Steve was stunned as well.

"Sir," a young police officer stammered, "is that... is that Superman? I used to read his comics when I was a kid..."

"Shut up, George," the older officer snapped. "Superman is Henry Cavill! Who the hell is this?"

"Is this S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Steve pressed his earpiece. "Fury! Is this the ace up your sleeve?!"

"..." The comms were silent.

S.H.I.E.L.D., on the Helicarrier.

Nick Fury, the King of Spies, stared with his single eye fixed on the figure on the screen.

"Hill," his voice was urgent, "Analyze that target for me. Who is he? Have we logged him before? Where did he come from? Why is he dressed like he just walked off a movie set?!"

"Sir," Agent Maria Hill's fingers flew across the keyboard. "No match in the superhuman database! He just suddenly appeared there. The thermal signature... My God, his bio-thermal signature is as high as a small reactor!"

In the center of the battlefield.

Jack Banks floated in the air, basking in the gazes cast up at him.

Awe, surprise, confusion, and... adoration.

"Too little..." Jack Banks frowned in dissatisfaction.

He needed a bigger stage.

Just then, a Chitauri soldier noticed the oddly dressed man. It shrieked, raised its energy spear, and fiercely stabbed at his back!

"Look out!!" Steve shouted from below.

Jack Banks seemed not to hear, not even turning his head.

Pffffft—!

The tip of the spear stopped at his back.

The Chitauri soldier used all its strength but couldn't push forward an inch.

Jack Banks slowly turned around, a hint of "annoyance at being disturbed" on his handsome face.

"Trash."

He then reached out, quick as lightning, and grabbed the Chitauri soldier's head.

Under the shocked gaze of Steve Rogers, he gave it a light squeeze.

"Splurt—!"

Like crushing a tomato.

Green blood and white brains splattered everywhere.

The headless corpse fell from the sky.

Jack Banks shook the grime off his hand with a look of disgust.

"No wonder Homie likes to shoot lasers from his eyes? Using hands is truly gross..."

He then suddenly looked up at the sky.

A group of Chitauri flyers was diving down.

His eyes began to heat up, a scorching power gathering behind his retinas.

"Zzzzz—!!"

Two deep crimson beams of scorching light shot out from his eyes!

The beams swept across the sky, cleanly slicing the five Chitauri flyers, along with their pilots, into two halves.

Molten metal and charred wreckage rained down.

At that moment, the area around him fell silent for a second.

"My God..." The policeman named John dropped his gun with a clank.

"Nick!" Steve was dumbfounded for two seconds. "I ask again, is that really not your secret weapon?"

"This guy... really not Superman?" Hawkeye, Clint, muttered from the rooftop.

"He's powerful," Natasha's voice came over the comms, "and... he seems to be enjoying all of this."

Iron Man, Tony Stark, made a sharp turn in the air and stopped in front of Jack Banks, his faceplate retracting.

"Hey! Star-Spangled Boy!" Tony's tone was as flippant as ever. "The cosplay party isn't today. Who are you? Fury's new toy?"

Jack Banks floated in the air, level with Stark, and flashed a perfect smile.

"You look more like a toy than I do! I'm just here to help."

"Help? Your way of helping is certainly... flamboyant." Tony quipped.

"Thank you for the compliment."

"I wasn't complimenting—"

"Tony!" The Captain's voice cut in. "Stop talking! We have trouble!"

"A big one is charging down Fifth Avenue. Hulk and Thor are teaming up on the other two."

"I got it." Tony's faceplate closed, ready to rush over.

"No need to bother, Mr. Stark."

Jack Banks smiled, beating him to it.

His speed was too fast.

Tony Stark's armor only managed to capture a red and blue blur.

The next second, Jack Banks appeared in front of the Leviathan.

He simply... charged straight into it.

Pffffft—!

To everyone's horror, he passed straight through the behemoth's metal head at supersonic speed!

A perfectly circular hole several meters in diameter appeared in the creature's head.

Rumble...

The massive beast lost all momentum and collapsed onto the street, creating a giant crater.

Jack Banks floated at the other end of the beast's corpse.

He slowly turned, completely spotless, and showed a dazzling, magazine-cover-worthy smile to the dumbfounded crowd below.

"Don't be afraid, everyone." His voice clearly carried over several blocks. "I'm here."

And, in mid-air, he waved at a news helicopter filming him, flashing a righteous smile: "Don't worry, I'll save everyone here!"
