Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Departure

Leaving the base wasn't hard, everyone there was strong enough to survive on their own. In the end, he couldn't help but feel a little more lonely.

Looking at the dark sky, night headed for the center zone. Judging from the surveying he did the past week, it was more advisable to head directly to the center.

As he moved forward, the air felt colder, as if we had already entered winter. It didn't make sense, the climate condition couldn't just change that suddenly. Then, the cold became worse to the extent his breath became clear.

He couldn't understand the cause of the sudden change of weather, but the one thing he was sure about was that it was going to get harder.

"Where are you going?",echoed behind him.

there was no reason for him to turn back to know who it was.

"You're leaving again, aren't you....but why, you just got here , there's no reason for you to leave."

night hesitated to speak.

"Is it because of the missing chronicles?

Mei already confessed, i don't know why she did it, but i know she had a reason, everyone is sorry for doubting you...i am sorry for not speaking up, for you, i know you're strong but please...."

at that point silver had already broken down into tears...

"please don't leave me"

night couldn't think of anything to say so he just continued walking forward. He couldn't bear to see her cry like that but he didn't know why. Then he stopped after silver said

"You're the only one close enough to call a brother, so please don't go!"

night was about to break down completely, as tears fell from his eyes and he said

"am not..because i have no family left"

Silver collapsed on the ground, she looked broken, night was too, he took a step forward then another before he ran, it was true...right. He was alone because of his own choices.

he always thought it was his luck, he blamed it all on fate, because it made no sense, how could i be so unlucky. Now and then, nothing changes, he was just a being far worse than an extra in a novel. He was a disposable.

In the end, his choices were the only way to keep him and everyone else safe, because he knew instinctively, he could not handle seeing even one more person dead because then, he might fully break apart.

---

As he ran, he stopped abruptly the moment he looked at the sky. An unclear figure, clearly human. with an abnormally long one bladed long sword strapped on his back.. Everything around him felt frozen. He placed his an on the hilt of the blade.

The moment he drew his sword, everything changed, snow formed out of nowhere, frost filled the air, snow fell from the sky as a whole season changed. Then he just disappeared.

a few miles from where night stood was the border line. The moment he crossed it, the atmosphere change. The aen in the air felt purer, his enhanced range could not pick up any spawns in miles. it felt safe, but it was impossible for there a safe place in an unconquered region. Even if it felt safe, nothing could change the fact that this was a corrupted world. Everything like safety and were all meaningless in the scape.

the moment he took a step forward,a thought echoed in his head, there are more scary things than even spawns in this world.

Night moved quickly his goal was to reach a certain destination.

In a world where everyone is desperately trying to survive, there will always be others who kill each other to survive. Killing and fighting to survive was a basic human emotion,no one wants to and yet there are always others who find fun in the suffering of others.

Human emotion was foreign to him, not because he wasn't human but because he didn't understand what it meant to be human.

In the past week, night had met other seekers, mostly merchants and explorers. Even in this dreadful world, most of them still chose trade to survive. The money that every human wanted was rendered useless after judgement arrived, so they chose another means of trade, soul cores.

Yet, no matter how much they thought they could change. They were still sinners.....

With the help of the trade he was able to gather info on this place.

Only one sentence could fully describe them;

They were living monsters.

Every seeker that survived here, their hands weren't clean in the very least. Most of them chose to enslave others, steal and fight each other....

Except him....their so-called hero.

Every description only matched one person in his head, it was impossible right....he couldn't be .

Night stopped everything abruptly, thinking, moving and every other thing.....because he was there.

His new make shift home.....

---

For two twilight ranked soul cores, he was able to get info on a place called the back zones. There were several places in the scape which used colour rankings to classify their danger level.

red zones which means high tier spawns, blue zones which meant dangerous topography, white zones which calamity ranked regions and lastly black zones.

The real dangers were the red and white zones, while the blue and black were a bit on the safer sides.

They were named that because the longer you stayed there, the weaker you got.

It was hard to understand it at first, until he found information about it in his journal. Place with high density of corrupted aen which makes even breathing there difficult. Most people that stayed here for long experienced things, most lose their minds, others see things.

It doesn't take long for people to die here.

even most awakeneds could hardly manage it for less than three days.

But it was different with him. That grape he ate in the sapphire abyss, made his corruption resistance higher, which meant such places were highly useful for people who could already use aen but had higher resistance, which meant it was a perfect new home
