"Roar—"
The Tyrannotitan made the first move, charging forward with his massive jaws wide open toward Big Eatie. Adopting a strategy of meeting changes with constancy, Big Eatie lowered her body and head, meticulously tracking the trajectory of her opponent's assault.
The neck? The flank? No, he didn't look like he was going for a bite, he was... ramming?!
Thud—Crunch!
An immense force surged through her entire frame. By keeping her posture low, Big Eatie successfully secured a slight leverage advantage in the collision, but her low stance prevented her from directly targeting his neck. Consequently...
Rip—
Sharp teeth pierced into flesh. Big Eatie lunged forward violently, clamping her jaws onto the thick muscle of the Tyrannotitan's thigh!
The Tyrannotitan let out a low grunt of pain. A Tyrannosaurus rex's bite force was devastatingly high, but snapping his massive bone structure through brute force alone was still a tall order.
"Roar—"
Planting his right foot firmly backward to stabilize his stance, the Tyrannotitan slightly lifted his pinned left leg. While it wasn't a massive lift, the sheer range of the movement forced his opponent to loosen her grip.
Much like the Indominus rex thrashing her entire body to shake off Rexy's grip on her neck, Big Eatie had no desire to snap her own neck. Enduring a sensation like her brains being violently scrambled inside her skull, she let go. The Tyrannotitan seized this exact window of opportunity and locked his jaws directly onto her neck!
The two massive carnivores shifted their footing, spinning in a tight, grinding circle. Their immense body weights sent tremors through the earth, and a roadside utility pole snapped like a twig when hit by the thrashing of their heavy tails.
Thud!
Big Eatie planted her massive foot pads firmly against the solid ground, forcing their dizzying spin to a grinding halt.
The Tyrannotitan kept his jaws locked onto Big Eatie's neck, exerting every ounce of his strength to bear down on her, yet he could not force her down a single inch.
Sensing her oxygen running out, Big Eatie simply held her breath. Fighting through the overwhelming vertigo, she stubbornly forced her body upward, inch by painstaking inch!
After surviving the experience of being thrown like a ragdoll by the crushing, absolute power of that particular monster, no desperate situation could ever break her spirit again.
The Tyrannotitan's teeth scraped violently against Big Eatie's neck, carving new lacerations over her old scars, but it wasn't enough to halt her momentum.
Snap!
As she forced herself upward, the Tyrannotitan lost his leverage and could no longer maintain his death grip. Big Eatie seized the moment and violently wrenched her body sideways. Blood sprayed into the air as she broke the chokehold!
Fresh air flooded into her lungs, and her decelerating heart began to hammer furiously once more!
Big Eatie snapped her eyes open, only to see the Tyrannotitan lunging at her again! Pivoting her neck sharply, she dodged the snap. Catching him mid-recovery, she whipped her head back and clamped her jaws horizontally across his entire snout.
The two dinosaurs began to spin in circles once more. While a snout lock wasn't as immediately fatal as a neck bite, it was highly effective at disrupting an opponent's balance and spatial awareness.
The Tyrannotitan's skull structure was far denser than Big Eatie had anticipated; expecting to crush his maxilla outright was wishful thinking. Instead, she used her momentum to spin him around, hurling him away just as he was about to break free.
CRASH!
The Tyrannotitan slammed hard into an empty shipping container. Shaking his dizzy, disoriented head a few times, he refocused his gaze on Big Eatie.
Though he appeared to be at a disadvantage, his hide showed no severe injuries. But Big Eatie? Her neck was already covered in deep, bleeding wounds.
Big Eatie was keenly aware of this fact, and a hint of retreat flickered in her instincts. If this had been a simple territorial skirmish, the victor would already be decided, but...
"Roar—"
The Tyrannotitan had no intention of letting her off so easily. Roaring defiantly, he lunged forward once more.
Having anticipated his habit of opening with a body check, Big Eatie micro-adjusted her posture. She braced for the impact and successfully maneuvered herself into a dominant position!
For the moment, the two titans were locked in an unbreakable stalemate.
"Adult Tyrannosaurus and adult Tyrannotitan are locked in combat. Requesting permission to deploy tranquilizers."
"Denied. Prioritize separating the two animals. Prevent fatalities at all costs."
The Primeval personnel had arrived just in time, but they seemed entirely ill-equipped to handle two apex predators in the middle of a deathmatch.
Granted, predators didn't need to kill every second of the day, but whenever an opportunity arose to eliminate a rival apex competitor, they would take it without hesitation.
Every dinosaur possessed a different level of torpor resistance. If one of them succumbed to the tranquilizers first, it would essentially spell a death sentence for that animal.
"Separate them? How? With just our one vehicle?"
A rookie who had recently joined the Primeval Organization panicked. The two dinosaurs ahead had already entered a state of pure bloodlust. Without an overwhelming force to intervene, how could they possibly pull them apart?
The veteran Primeval operator didn't bother answering. He calmly finished loading a flare gun and aimed it straight into the sky.
Thwip—
A yellow flare soared into the heavens, bursting like a second dawn over the early morning harbor.
Giga Dad, who had been using his massive head to smash open shipping containers, stopped what he was doing along with the other Gigas. They all raised their heads to look at the distant sky.
That was...
"Grrrnngg…"
Katyusha's low grunt snapped the pack back to reality, reminding them to continue the task Carlo had assigned.
Thud... Thud...
Heavy footsteps sent fractures spider-webbing across the concrete harbor. Even before the flare had reached its apex, Carlo had already arrived.
He looked up at the burning signal in the sky, a flicker of familiarity washing over him, accompanied by a wave of complex, indescribable emotion.
"We recovered Caroline's body and managed to decode a specific pheromone she had been transmitting prior to her death. We replicated it to manufacture a specialized flare based on Biosyn's tech. Translated, its meaning is roughly..."
"Leave no one behind?"
The veteran operator explained to the rookie, his eyes remaining glued to the colossal titan standing a short distance away.
The yellow smoke was as fleeting as a firework. Carlo kept his head raised, watching the spot until the pheromones completely dissipated into the air before finally averting his eyes.
Understood~
He lowered his head and looked at the two smaller predators before him. Big Eatie, completely lacking the courage to face an opponent more than twice her size, began backing away to retreat.
"Roar—"
The Tyrannotitan unleashed another deafening roar. He refused to bow to any adversary, though his aggression didn't stem from pure malice, but rather seemed like a trauma-induced stress response born of isolation.
Carlo simply turned. His massive tail sliced through the air and slapped the Tyrannotitan square across the face, instantly helping him settle down.
Tilting his head slightly, Carlo used his sense of smell to pinpoint his family's location and began walking over at a leisurely pace.
"Praise the Giganotosaurus! Quick, tranquilize them!"
The Primeval staff were ecstatic. After all, who among those working for the Primeval Ecological Zone wasn't a fan of Carlo?
"Uh... Captain, I think the Tyrannotitan is already knocked out cold."
"..."
"Roar—"
Carlo let out a low huff to call the Giganotosaurus pack together, signaling that they no longer needed to free any more dinosaurs. Giga Dad and the others obediently trotted back to his side.
"Roar…"
Boss, those humans aren't attacking us.
"Roar…"
Yeah... they're the type of humans that don't stimulate a dinosaur's appetite anyway.
Amidst the utter bedlam of the harbor, the Giganotosaurus family stood like pillars at the center of the world, completely indifferent to the chaos swirling around them.
The humans' vehicles chased down the more ill-tempered dinosaurs, putting them to sleep with tranquilizer darts. One vehicle was particularly daring; a staff member stuck his upper torso right out of the sunroof, snapping a quick selfie as the car sped right past Carlo.
Thump-thump-thump-thump!
Thwack—Pssh!
An emergency medical dart pierced perfectly into a gap between Carlo's scales. As the medication injected itself, Carlo didn't feel any significant difference.
Looking up at the sky, he saw the familiar, muscular old friend leaning out of the chopper. Carlo let out a low huff, as if to say: I don't need this, you know, even though my health bar has literally never been full in my entire life.
Not that the human could understand him anyway.
