Chapter 202 - Chapter 202: My Most Precious Treasure, Continues to Touch Hearts

Confirming the basic project outline was just the first step; Lin Zhiyan still needed to secure a record company to collaborate on the project.

This wasn't a major concern, however. Numerous record companies were eager to work with Lin Zhiyan, so finding a partner wouldn't be difficult.

Over the next few days, he would refine the project proposal further.

There was no need to rush; he could take his time.

After seeing off Takeda Yushi, Lin Zhiyan wasn't thinking about how to perfect the Love Live! project, but rather what his next animation as Supervising Director would be.

A project was just a project, but only a work where he personally served as Supervising Director could truly be considered his next animation.

This next animation needed to be highly popular, but considering it would mark the tenth anniversary of L.S Produ's founding, he could afford to sacrifice some popularity to create a "commemorative" work.

Of course, the popularity couldn't be too low. After all, this was still his animation. Even if he had to sacrifice some popularity, he couldn't compromise on the project's overall quality and prestige.

What exactly should he do?

He pondered this for several days, but before he could make a decision, the tenth episode of as aired on TV.

This episode focused on the story of Hinata and Yui.

Yui was the singer who replaced Iwasawa Masami as the new vocalist for Girls Dead Monster. Originally a minor character in the protagonist group, her role gradually expanded after she became the band's vocalist. However, whenever she appeared—aside from her performances on stage—she was almost always bickering with Hinata, giving the impression that they formed a bumbling yet endearing couple.

The Male Lead, determined to help everyone fulfill their unfinished regrets, naturally started with the easiest targets. Yui, appearing to be the simplest case, became his first objective.

To help Yui fulfill her unfinished regrets, the Male Lead first needed to discover what those regrets were. For this, he required the assistance of Kanade Tachibana, who, despite being his ostensible rival, possessed the necessary information.

The entire process unfolded as a typical blend of humor and hijinks, perfectly showcasing Kanade Tachibana's endearing ditziness.

After a series of utterly absurd events, the Male Lead finally managed to meet Yui privately and successfully pried information about her life from her.

As a child, she had been paralyzed in a car accident and confined to her bed, cared for by her mother. Unable to walk normally, she spent her days watching TV, daydreaming about the things she saw on screen.

After dying and coming to this world, she could walk and run again, but there were still many things she couldn't do alone, leaving her with numerous regrets.

The Male Lead hadn't anticipated it would be so complicated, but he still helped Yui fulfill her wishes one by one, including: becoming a sparring partner for the German-style bridge jumper, organizing a soccer game with Hinata and other guys, secretly rigging the game to help Yui score, and even practicing baseball with her.

Her baseball wish was to hit a home run.

This proved incredibly difficult. For days on end, Yui swung again and again, but couldn't manage a single home run. In the end, she gave up.

The Male Lead grew anxious, urging her not to give up, to keep pushing until the very end.

Yui replied, "A home run is just a joke of a dream. Even without hitting one, all the physical activity has been enough. Every day feels like a club activity—so happy. Didn't I tell you? Back then, my body couldn't move at all, so I'm truly grateful for this now."

The Male Lead didn't press further and instead asked, "So, have you achieved everything you wanted to do when you were immobilized?"

Yui pondered for a moment before stating her final wish: to get married.

"Huh?" The Male Lead was stunned.

"A woman's ultimate happiness... But I can't do housework, can't even wash clothes. Forget that—alone, I can't do anything. I'd just be a burden, constantly causing trouble for others."

"Who would want me? God is so cruel, stealing all my happiness," Yui added, her voice choking with emotion. The hand gripping her baseball bat trembled slightly.

The Male Lead wanted to comfort her, to say it wasn't true, but Yui immediately asked, "Then, Senior, will you marry me?"

This question plunged the Male Lead into a dilemma.

Just as he was struggling with the question, a voice suddenly rang out: "I will!"

It was Hinata, who was always bickering with Yui.

Hinata stepped closer to Yui, his voice steady as he continued, "I will marry you. I mean it."

"How is that possible?" Yui asked, her voice tinged with disbelief. "You don't even know the real me."

Hinata replied, "No matter who you are in reality, no matter what kind of disability you have, I will marry you."

"Yui can't even walk or stand," Yui said, her voice resigned.

"Didn't I say no matter what kind of disability you have?" Hinata countered. "Even if you can't walk, stand, or even have children, I will still marry you. I will always be by your side..."

Hinata's voice was resolute. "The you I met here isn't a fake Yui, but the real one. No matter where I met you, I would have fallen for you. Even if we reunited by a one-in-six-billion chance, even if your body was still immobilized, I would marry you."

Tears welled in the corners of Yui's eyes, touched by his words, but she still said, "We won't meet again. Because Yui has always been bedridden at home."

Hinata dismissed her concerns and immediately proposed a scenario: "I'm a baseball player. One day, I break a window at your house. While retrieving the ball, I see you. That's how we meet. We chat, discover we're very compatible, and before we know it, I'm visiting your house daily, taking care of you. How about that story?"

"Hmm," Yui replied softly. "At that time, I'd like to give my mother, who's always been alone in caring for me, a chance to rest."

"Leave it to me," Hinata answered without hesitation.

"That's wonderful," Yui said, deeply moved.

Tears spilled from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks.

They were tears of deep emotion.

Throughout the conversation, the deeply moving background music "My Most Precious Treasure" played:

"Every time we meet, we always end up arguing,

Even so, they're all beautiful memories.

Because you once told me not to be afraid,

No matter how much I suffer, I must seize happiness.

So, I'll go alone, no matter how painful it is,

The dreams we witnessed together are the baggage for my journey.

With you, it's enough, I don't need anyone else.

When the first light of dawn fills my eyes, you're no longer by my side..."

As the dialogue ended, various imagined scenes unfolded, from their first meeting to growing closer, everything as Hinata had said, so beautiful.

By the time the imagined scenes finished, Yui was nowhere to be seen on the twilight track field.

The previous Episode 9 was deeply moving, and while Episode 10 bid farewell to Yui, it didn't fall short in terms of emotional impact, even compared to Episode 9. Especially the conversation between Hinata and Yui, paired with the "perfect match" of the song "My Most Precious Treasure," made it even more tear-inducing.

Thus, viewers' impression of as as a deeply moving animation was further reinforced.
