I swallowed the bile in my throat, maintaining as nonchalant an expression as I could.
"Are you pregnant?" I asked. "In that case, congratulations. Though I suppose it was only a matter of time, with how you and the Alphas go at it."
It was my intention to mildly irritate and deflect Violet's attention, but I did not expect her to flare up the way she did.
She growled, shoving me to a side as I roughly fell to the floor. I groaned when my shoulder knocked against the hard floorboards, sucking in a sharp breath of air through my teeth as I tried to fight the pain.
She tossed me a death glare before strolling over to where the test kit had fallen. Then, she picked it up, scoffing as she read the result that was clearly printed on it.
Drat. I should've destroyed it while I still had the chance. Now it was too late.
"Bit risky to keep this around where someone could easily find it, don't you think?" Violet said with a mocking laugh.
