Chapter 50 - Chapter 49: Gwen's Dilemma! Who's Right, Who's Wrong? [Please give flowers]

In the helicopter, the BBC TV host was reporting excitedly.

Just then;

Her peripheral vision suddenly caught a familiar figure appearing near the battlefield below.

"Oh my goodness~! Everyone, look who I've found?" The female host shouted excitedly: "It's Spider-Woman, who had disappeared for a while, she has reappeared!!"

The female host seemed to be a fan of Spider-Woman, appearing particularly excited after seeing Spider-Woman's appearance.

"I knew it, Spider-Woman couldn't possibly retire!"

"Spider-Woman's appearance this time absolutely shatters all previous rumors about her retirement!"

While the BBC female host in the helicopter was excitedly expressing her opinions.

Below, Gwen, who had already arrived on the battlefield, immediately joined the fight!

No choice;

She had just arrived when a Poison Squad member threw a flying knife at her.

"My goodness! Are you trying to kill me?"

Gwen turned to dodge, then with a flick of her hand, used her web to stick to the flying knife, and with a swing back, the flying knife shot towards that Poison Squad member at a faster speed than it came!

Pfft!

The flying knife directly pierced him.

But the guy acted as if nothing had happened, showing no intention of stopping, and rushed directly in front of Gwen, quickly slashing with a knife.

Gwen immediately dodged, not allowing him to succeed.

At the same time, she shot a web to stick to the wall above, instantly rising into the air, then the web broke, and while in the air, she shot two more webs that stuck to the Poison Squad member.

Bang!

A muffled thud.

That member of the Poison Squad was sent flying.

He was knocked back by a heavy blow from Gwen!

Five or six of his ribs were broken on the spot!

But even so, he silently climbed up from the ground, and despite having a broken arm, he still rushed forward to continue attacking Gwen.

"Doesn't this guy feel pain?"

Gwen shot out webs to bind the opponent while landing on the edge of the battlefield.

"Hey~! What exactly is going on here?"

She asked Peter, who was not far away.

Peter looked excited to see Spider-Woman, and he was speaking incoherently.

You must know;

Spider-Woman was his idol, second only to Iron Man!

"Um... Spider-Woman, actually, I'm not too sure either."

Peter said, scratching his head.

Gwen, "..."

Then what exactly are you fighting for?

Gwen was speechless. She didn't bother asking the clueless Spider-Man anymore and turned to fly over to Luke Cage.

Bang!

A Poison Squad member was repelled by Gwen.

Then she continuously shot out a large amount of webbing from both hands, sticking the fallen Poison Squad member firmly to the ground, unable to move.

"Big guy, what's the situation? You don't know anything either, do you?"

Gwen asked again.

Luke Cage clearly knew Spider-Woman, recognizing her as a Superhero as well.

"These people are from the Osborn Group. I discovered they were secretly conducting human experiments, so they came to silence me."

Luke Cage quickly gave a simple explanation.

Gwen, upon hearing Luke Cage's explanation, was stunned.

The Osborn Group again?

Gwen felt conflicted.

Because her boyfriend, Rhodey, was the Vice President and a shareholder of the Osborn Group.

If she opposed the Osborn Group like this, wouldn't she be going against her own boyfriend?

Furthermore;

Gwen herself actually had a good impression of the Osborn Group.

After all, she had interned there before.

Professor Connors had even told her that if she was willing, she could continue interning there during the holidays.

Gwen had previously considered going back during the holidays.

But now... could there be some misunderstanding?

Gwen thought to herself.

Human experimentation wasn't necessarily all evil.

Truly evil human experiments are those where innocent people are captured and subjected to cruel tests regardless of their survival—those are definitely evil human experiments.

But in reality, many countries around the World have formal and legal human experiments.

The subjects all sign contracts.

They receive compensation, and although there are some risks, they are generally not fatal!

Of course!

Where there are legal ones, there are naturally illegal ones.

In fact, the experiment Harry was secretly conducting was certainly not entirely legal or compliant.

First, their experiments carried extreme fatal risks, and that alone made them illegal and non-compliant!

However;

But this is the United States!

A large corporation like Osborn has plenty of ways to circumvent those regulations.

In fact, the test subjects Harry used were bought from prisons.

They were all serving life sentences.

Furthermore, these inmates signed contracts, indicating their voluntary participation in the experiments.

Of course!

The inmates aren't fools; they wouldn't sign a contract that could kill them for no reason.

Even if they are serving life sentences, at least they are still alive, right?

The real reason they were willing to sign the contract was money!

Harry gave them a sum of money—to be precise, he gave a sum of money to their families outside!

It was because of this money that they were willing to participate in the experiment.

Of course, even if you argued until the sky fell, what Harry was doing was illegal and non-compliant!

So essentially, this was indeed illegal human experimentation.

But the fact remains that both parties involved in the experiment were willing to cooperate.

Harry obtained test subjects and could continue his research on cross-species gene transplantation.

The prison executives gained benefits, receiving an extra source of income.

Even the inmates used for experiments received a sum of money, allowing their loved ones to live a better life.

Luke Cage was naturally unaware of these details.

If he had known, he probably wouldn't have interfered.

After all;

He wasn't the type of Superhero overflowing with a sense of justice.

But if it were Peter Parker.

Even if both parties were willing, he couldn't stand by and watch this kind of human experimentation proceed...
