Just as he pulled Evelyn, she too held him tightly and sat next to him,
It was silent for a while,
Then Smile explained everything he knew about the 2nd step.
The moment was quite silent for some time, then Evelyn broke the silence, she had quite sorrowful tone, "Thank you for everything".
Smile stared at her in the darkness, he giggled slightly,
He touched her head and moved it, like brooding her.
He spoke, "I have plans, you're not gonna die"
He could feel the stare of Evelyn, she didn't care about how but she had one doubt, "Why,why are you helping me this much?"
He stared at her surprisingly, even he didn't know why, but he just wanted her to live so he didn't answer.
It was an awkward moment of silence, some time later he could hear the sound of breathing, Evelyn had fallen asleep.
Smile did the same, he closed his eyes, this time there were no nightmares nor dreams.
Soon the lights were on, today was gonna be an interesting day,
All freshened up taking turns going to restroom.
Soon Tom came in and before he said anything, Smile stood up and said, "Tom I've got a deal to make"
Tom looked at him coldly, then burst into laughter, "I'd be killed if I let you off like that with deals"
Smile sighed, "It will be beneficial for you"
Tom looked at him, "alright I'm interested"
He took him to some area near restroom, it was dark, no one could see anything,
Smile had always wondered if this whole family possessed some sort of night vision.
Smile started, "Before Elena comes, I want you to fake a death of one girl and let her free, I'll do anything in return"
Smile could feel the heavy gaze, however Tom said something really unexpected, "Alright then, but if that person talks to this about anywhere, we will find her and kill her entire family, and if you managed to protect her till the end of the step I'll grant you your wish"
Smile was satisfied with this, however what came next was rather a brutal exchange.
Tom continued, "And for the second part in exchange to her freedom, you'll have to sell yourself to us and there will be an addition of 4th step"
The latter was something he could endure but the former,
It didn't change the things much, he was already getting trained but at some point of time he knew they would make him a possession of their family.
Smile thought for some time and replied, "Deal"
He was brought back,
Everything went well now his only goal was to protect Evelyn through these challenges.
He glanced at her, she was looking at her knife trying understand it a little.
Tom was now gonna announce about the challenge, "Alright ladies for the next challenge will be for you all to kill Smile, if he kills one of you, the game will end if none occurs all of the ladies will die"
Smile's eyes widened not because of the surprise element but he had to kill someone today,
But he was gonna do it for the sake of Evelyn, he had to.
Everyone were given a knife except Smile, he had to fight barehanded.
Evelyn had her obsidian knife ofcourse, Smile was curious what she would now.
But she was looking quite ready, he smiled a little and got up.
The other girls had to kill him to save themselves.
Ava and Evelyn hesitated a little, Teresa was the first one to rush with a knife,
She had already adapted to see someone die twice, so she did not hesitate anymore like the first task.
Smile wasn't taught anything about fighting, but he had an advantage of passing step 1 he had no fear of simple things anymore.
Teresa brought the knife close to his eyes,
She glanced at his eyes once,
They were Onyx eyes like black gems in a white pond, they didn't shine, yet they held something mysterious.
He easily dodged it, her momentum made her go front when he dodged,
Just as she lost her balance, he held the back of her neck, and pulled her closer, he whispered, "I'm sorry"
He slightly twisted her neck, and she fell on the ground lifelessly, just like that the task was over.
Ava and Evelyn looked at him, Ava had fearful expression but Evelyn was slightly happy.
They all were tied back, and food packs were left,
Smile took a little cup out of it, it contained with nutritious juice with no taste or whatsoever.
He sipped it and started to think,
The spy and the culprit of Jessica's death, it had to be an expert and wouldn't die easily, so it had to be someone who's alive and acting.
The only option was Ava and there were also chances it could've been Teresa, she mightve underestimated him,
Which was right thing to do, but how could he perform such a killing act effortlessly... perhaps we'll know soon.
Time passed, Smile worked out a little, Evelyn was sharpening her knife, Ava didn't join the workout today, she was a little closer with Teresa and the fact Smile killed her, scared the shit out of her.
Smile felt pity looking at Ava, he didn't want to get distracted so he continued his workout.
Night came, he was not gonna say anything to Evelyn or she'd be concerned towards him.
Lights were off, he told both of them, "Good night both of you"
It was silent.

He fell in the void
This time very deep, perhaps the deepest he ever fell and it was also the darkest,
