"She's gonna be alright, But like every sick patient she's going to have to rest, The Alchemist said as he got up from the stool beside Sarah's bed.
"Thank you, Celia said sweetly, would you like to have tea before you go?
"No that'll be alright, I have no time to waste at the moment, I'll be going, the man kindly refused.
"Sure, I'll see you out, she continued as she followed him outside.
Bella looked both ways of the hallway before slipping into Sarah's room, She carried a huge folded cloth that she handled with care.
"They're gone now, she whispered," come on get up and stop pretending to be asleep, I don't have all day.
Sarah opened her eyes, It fell on Bella, still dressed in her white nightgown she sat up on the massive bed, the sheets furrowed under her weight,"well hand them over she said weakly.
"You're going to owe me multiple favor for this, Bella scoffed as she unwrapped the cloth, revealing lots of cakes, biscuits and sweets, Sarah's eyes glowed. She had always had a huge appetite for sweet things and that hadn't changed in this lifetime.
"Come on, hurry up! Bella urged, but she didn't have to tell Sarah, she had already grabbed two large cakes and sunk her teeth into both in rapid succession, the crumbs scattered over her sheets and down her neck. Her eyes glittered as she devoured them.
"You don't have to eat like a starved animal, Bella said setting the rest of them down and gathering the crumbs that were falling rather rapidly. "So how's are you feeling, Bella asked nervously.
Sarah mumbled something she couldn't quite make out cause her mouth were now full of crumbling cookies, One after the other, Cakes, Cookies biscuits and Sweets disappeared, she breathed a sigh of relief as she washed it all down with a glass of cold milk. Bella watched her from the corner of her eye while tidying up the place. Sarah was looking out the window into the garden.
"So, Bella began, About what you said in the carriage, she gathered all the crumbs, tied it in the sheets and stashed it under Sarah's bed, Sarah didn't mind, she could hardly be called tidy either, and some cake crumbs wouldn't change the state of her room. Clothes everywhere, heavy looking tools lay around, some things bubbles here and there, shattered glass all over the floor, it would be a death sentence to walk into her room without a shoe or boot on, except if you're Sarah of course.
"What did I say? she stared blankly at Bella licking her fingers, she cleaned it on the sheets.
"Don't worry nevermind, Bella sighed," well I'll be going now, make sure you don't act like you've eaten a whole cartload of cakes by the time mum comes here with your drugs, Sarah went green, Bella smiled, the medicines could be considered anything but pleasant, " Well I'll be off, she said taking the wrapped came crumbs with her, she looked both ways at the corridor again before disappearing out of the room.
"Did I say something I was not supposed to? Sarah asked herself, She stood up on her bed, jumped off in two little strides, her bare foot slapped the ground as she made her way to the mirror, a thirteen year old girl with blue hair stared back at her, she looked at her teeth, nothing has changed, she sighed. Flung her lab coat from a stand nearby, putting on her boots still in her night gown she bolted out the room, Careful not to make unnecessary noise, she slowed down her sprint, thought she was sure she was light enough not to make any noise even while running, In about a minute after sliding down the guard of the stairs, she was outside, it was in the morning but the sun was already out like it had a beef with the earth, she covered her eyes and squinted, she saw the alchemist's carriage pull out of their manor, her mum waving at him, Not wasting time, she found her way down the flower patch, maids stared at her confused as she past them, still in her nightgown and oversized lab coat, her hair fluttering in the wind,she liked the feeling. It took a while for her to make it to the garden, by then she was panting and seriously out of breath, her head was throbbing, she wasn't as well as she thought she was, but to get better it's always good to workout and she considered this as such, Her little makeshift lab stood at the far end of the garden, she plucked thorns and petals form her hair as she approached it.
"They really need to start trimming this place down, she stared at the overgrown flowers, She approached they door, it was golden with an Extra large doorknob with strange markings.
"Open up asshole, she barked at it, The doorknob twitched and started making clicking sounds, Sarah kicked it impatiently, the gold on the door stated retreating into the doorknob, it was now as large as a football, she plucked it from the door with a click, opened the door and went in.
She opened the windows of the lab to ventilate it, tools lay around here and there, broken mana stones lay in heaps in a corner of the room, She walked round the room, tapping some bottles containing different colour of liquids, they started bubbling, she set down a large jar the size of a really big flask, put on multiple gloves, opened it, took a deep breath and dug her hand in the liquid that was spitting and hissing as if warning against anything that was trying to come near it, Sarah remove her hand after a while, almost all the hand gloves she put on had been dissolved, she lay the small iron in her hand on the floor, the liquid dripping from the iron melted into the floor, she took off the remaining gloves, closed the lid of the chemical and kept it back in one of her cupboards. She, Looked through most of her cupboards before seeing what she was looking for, in a small container that looked like what could have been mistaken for a salt container, she shook it vigorously, little blue pills dropped In her out stretched hand, She stared at it with glee, It's kind of like eating my own hair, she thought as she tossed them Into her mouth, the sweetness made her brain tingle, her boot hit the wooden floor as she twirled, She picked up the little iron she has dropped earlier after all twh chemicals in it had melted into the ground, she was humming as she placed it on the table Riddled with failed objects, She put a dark see through cloth around her eyes as she placed two lightening rods between the iron, from the table she picked up a little blue orb ball, and set it ontop the iron, She bent down and covered her ears, it took a while, up above her head the table was buzzing and humming, there was an explosion, smoke filled the room, but we're quickly driven out the lab with something that looked like a mechanical handfan, she was holding. She sang a sweet song about the stars, cakes and Lobsters as she went, she took more of the pills and almost choked as she stopped Mark staring at her from the doorway.
She coughed and hit her chest,Mark approached her his outstretched hand formed water, Sarah drank it quickly.
"Are you trying to kill me, she barked, how long have you been there?
"To be honest I followed you the moment you left your room, mum said to keep an eye out for you and it turns out she was right, Mark shrugged.
"So what now, she asked softly, her hand playing around a syringe on the smoking table.
Mark raised his hands defensively," whoa whoa, what are you some sort of criminal, you're basically threatening me right now, he backed away slowly.
Sarah picked up the syringe and looked at the liquid contents seriously,"I'll only knock you out for a few hours and at most you'll lose your memory of the previous day, she said sweetly.
"Now that's messed up, put it down, I don't want to drag you back to your room, besides I doubt you'd be able to put up much of a fight, he sighed, I'm more Interested in what you're doing, he nodded towards the table. Also how do you test all these stuff? Sarah shifted nervously, Marks eyes narrowed," pls don't tell me you're the human test subject, he said walking closer.
"Would you volunteer to be one then, she asked sweetly.
"No thanks.
"Damn it, She sighed...
"Hey! Were you actually hoping I'd agree somehow, Mark looked bewildered.
"Maybe, she smiled.
"I'm just trying to make a nullifying hammer, She said as she picked up the small rectangular iron, no big deal, she shrugged, She scattered her desk and brought up a small rod like irons, she paired both the metals, and nodded, She started trimming down the rod like steel on a massive stone slab," I'm going to use this as the handle, normal convinent irons wouldn't be able to do the trick of what I'm about to make, she said slowly. Mark stared at everything, it all seemed Interesting but didn't touch anything, he approached Sarah from behind, tapped her neck, she fell asleep instantly.
"There we go, he smiled, hoisting her across his shoulder," mum will kill me if I don't bring you back, sorry about his, he apologized to the now sleep Sarah as she carried her out the lab.
"Mark tossed her in beg, covered her in her sheets, he left the room while whistling the song Sarah was singing.
Sarah wasn't administered drugs that day, her mother didn't even know she had went out, she woke up a day later.
"Arghhhhhhh! Sarah held her head in pain," Mark! What did you do, she screamed into the night.
Sarah slammed into the door, it opened right away, she slipped on the rug and fell face first into the ground, She was sprinting down the hallway, she stopped Infront of a standing armour, She pulled and pulled, it didn't go as she had hoped, Instead of the sword coming loose, the whole armour tumbled down nearly flattening her, she left out of the way In time as it crashed Into the ground, a huge surge of electricity passed through her body as the sound echoed throughout the night, She picked the sword she was after, it was heavy and she had to drag it all the way to Mark's room, she could hear people coming to the hallway, without much thought she pushed herself into Mark's room and shut the door. She took a deep breath, she looked at the dark room and froze, Mark was asleep in his double decker bed, Standing above him was a man with a knife who was shocked by Sarah's sudden appearance, they both stood still for a while, Sarah gulped as she stared at the knife, the man lunged at her trying to pin her down, Sarah was faster, she reached down her dress and pulled out three green balls, it levitated in the air as she ducked, the man ran Into it, The explosion blew him out the ceiling into the second floor, she retreated under Mark's poster bed as rocks came falling from the crumbling ceiling.
Mark woke up with a start, his eyes dangerous, water formed sharp spikes as they floated inches away from Sarah's face, she stared at them not daring to move, despite the things Sarah does she hates getting hurt.
"Sarah? What are you doing here? What's going on, the water softened and disappeared, Sarah lunged at him covering his mouth, two more massive explosion were heard on the next floor," now that makes Three, she muttered.
"What? Mark asked confused.
"Dude you were almost, She made a gesture across her neck, luckily for you I arrive just in time, She smiled.
"Are you Crazy? Mark asked now thoroughly confused..why would anyone try to kill me. Sarah whistled remembering she was just on her way to his room with a sword.
"What's going on, Bella asked as she wrenched the door open, her eyes were Amber, not ash Like usual, behind her stood quite the amount of guards, she spotted Sarah and Mark.
"What are you guys doing? She asked.
"You'll find his corpse upstairs, Sarah pointed at the hole in the ceiling.
"Corpse? Bella asked.
"What are you guys standing there for, Celia barked, go check it out, the guards immediately left them running upstairs.
She rushed into the room pulling Sarah and Mark into a tight hug," you're alright, thank goodness, she was sobbing.
"But what were you doing here anyways, she asked Sarah.
"I wanted to borrow something from Mark, she lied shamelessly.
" This time of the night? Celia asked
"Yes, it was urgent, she said firmly.
"Ma'am, we found a body, one of the knights in a leather armour came to report, but, whatever hit him didn't leave much of him to recover, he said nervously.
Sarah looked away again as they all stared at her.
"Sarah? Are you ok?, I-I mean you just killed a man, Celia said nervously. Sarah stared confused.
"What's that supposed to do with anything, she asked.
"Sarah! Celia yelled at her.
"Leave her be mum, Mark sighed, she has always been like this, nothing is going to change now."But right now I'm more curious about you Bella, You don't usually use your powers, now you look like you're about to burn a hole through something.
"Well my door wouldn't open for some reason so I had to burn is down, she huffed throwing back her hair, her eyes returned back to normal.
"What really? Celia suddenly said, Mine had the same problem.
"Then how did you get out then, Mark laughed, Celia looked away, You broke a door too didn't you, he said with glee.
"No it fell on its own, Celia lied shamelessly.
"You're just like Sarah, He laughed.
The guard cleared his throat loudly, they had momentarily forgotten he had existed at all, so what are we to do about the body, I mean no information can be extracted from him since he's dead, we can't also search his belongings since he was practically incinerated.
"Just bury it, Celia said deep in thought, she got up, patted Sarah in the head,"thanks for saving your brother. She then followed the knight out. I'll be writing to my husband and my son tonight, there's something going on, they heard her say in the hallway.
There was silence in the room as siblings stared at each other.
"Whoa I just dawned on me, I really almost died, in my sleep at that, Mark laughed.
"This is no laughing matter, Bella rounded up on him.
"Why? No one died except the unlucky guy who had to face Sarah, it's something to laugh about honestly, he shrugged." I think I'll let you do your crazy experiments on your own from now on.
An attack? Did something change? I thought they'd go after Dad or Andrew, but Mark? Did I change something that important in this timeline? Sarah was deep in thought and was oblivious to the fact that Mark was poking her face.
"When are you going to get off me, he groaned, it's like you've gained a pound.
Sarah got up without looking at him still in thought, Bella has to move out of the way so they don't collide, she stopped middle of the large hallway, Bella motioned Mark to keep quiet. She suddenly turned to face them.
"Mark, did you do something at the ball? She asked.
"No, not that I know off, all the girls there were so stuck up I didn't even feel Inclined to approach any, he sighed, bummer and I'm getting ancient too.
"Then what went wrong, Everything happened just as it did in the past, oh, not everything, I was never supposed to go to that ball, I was never meant to interact with Carl this early on, and I even gave him something, the prince is now Interested in Bella, They came here, I think I've changed too many things, but those are minor, should that make that big of a change tho, she said internally.
"Uh, Sarah, is something the matter, Bella asked softly.
"No it's nothing, she said somewhat annoyed that Bella even spoke to her at all," I think I'll go to bed now, she suddenly said and started stalking off. Mark and Bella looked at each other then nodded, they trailed her as she left the house, out to the court yard and into the garden, she saw her lab, it was semi open, she sprinted towards it, she stared around, the lantern flickered, nothing was missing so far, Mark must have forgotten to lock the door, she thought.
"She opened drawers and draw out something massive, it was like a compass, Bella and Mark watched silently from the shadows of the night, the light flickered even more as Sarah pulled out something blue frol beneath the massive compass, it was a mana stone but it was shaped like a cannon, it was radiating magical energy, Bella gasped, Mark had to restrain her from suddenly running out of their hiding spot.
Sarah placed a small redstone on the compass it twitched and creaked, the large flat surface of the compass started rearranging, it was a red map and on it were tiny dots, Bella and Mark couldn't make out very well, Something glowed from the man, Sarah smiled, Bingo.
She pulled the cannon shape mana stone with her as she went outside, it was too heavy for her to carry.
"I think it's time we help her, Mark suddenly said getting up from the rose bush, Bella followed him.
"Can we help, Mark suddenly said, Sarah jumped clutching her chest.
"W-wh-why are you here, also this is the second time you've tried to kill me with an heart attack, she panted.
"Sorry, but it felt like you're doing something important and could need some help, he said simply, Bella shifted from foot to foot, they could practically see the wheels spinning in Sarah's head. She sighed.
"Ok, but questions later. Mark, bring out the table and break it's legs.
Aya Aye, Mark went to work instantly.
Sarah stared at Bella, she tilted her head, For some reason Bella did the same.
When she finally spoke Bella jumped with fright," From this place you can see outside the manor, I mean we are in a hill after all, Look around the residential houses around the place, does anywhere strike you as odd, Sarah eyes narrowed.
Bella nervously stared around, many houses struck her as abnormal, It was a small place after all, but for some reason her eyes and body kept pointing her to a certain direction, there that house with it's light on, she pointed, it looks normal but for some reason by senses is telling me it's odd.
"So what do I do with this? Make came with the wooden legs of the Table.
"Set it down into a tri position, I'll be right back, Sarah said briefly and went inside the lab, she hauled the Massive compass out, Bella had to help her.
"Unlike you guys I don't have any magic power so I can't sense magic energy, here she pointed at the map, a bright blue spot stuck out than the rest, this house has the highest magical energy, apart from our manor of course, the manor shone like a large moon compared to the rest, your body is telling you that house cause of the energy coming from there.
"The assassin didn't come in through the windows and your doors weren't locked manually, it was magical, like wise the Assassin must have gotten into the manor through magical means too, and I doubt anyone would try to attack us with only one man, he has Allies, there was a mad glint in Sarah's eyes now.
"Help me set the cannon, Sarah placed a circular disk on the tri stool mark make, together they hoisted the Cannon on top of it, something snapped In place, she whilled it around facing the house Bella had pointed, she quickly ran inside the lab and brought out the rectangular iron she was working on earlier and some ear plugs, cover your ears if you don't want to go deaf, she said briefly. Mark and Bella took them with haste and plugged their ears, Sarah took the Iron and tapped the cannon, nothing happened at first, soon little lights started gathering at the mouth of the cannon, Mark and Bella stared at Sarah as she was suddenly sprinting away from the cannon, she was waving at them, they realized too late, The gate melted before the beam even touched it, The air compressed and broke off with a loud bang as the beam shut towards the house, there was a loud explosion and a severe earthquake followed after wards.
Mark's ears were ringing, So was Bella's, there were on the ground rolling in teb dirt, Sarah walked up to them, she said something they couldn't hear, cause their ears at the moment were unusable.
Mark and Bella drank whatever Sarah have them, it was sweet and tasted odd, slowly but surely they started hearing again.
"Sorry I forgot to tell you ear muffs wasn't enough, she said softly.
Mark stared daggers at her," what the hell was that? I didn't expect anything you'd be cooking up in there to have such destructive force, how come anyone hadn't known about it m, surely you must have tested it before.
"I did, Bella muttered, I charged it up with my magical energy a year ago," but I didn't know she was actually going to use it, she said quickly as Mark stared at her.
"Shut up guys, Sarah barked, she cleared her throat walked some distance from them, Kicked the cannon then screamed.
" Mum, help! Anyone, They're trying to take us away, Mum!, her childlike voice rang out through out the manor.
"Sarah had to duck as something blue shut past her head, Her mother was half dressed, her eyes were blue, her long hair stood upright, electrical charges buzzed here and there," What's going on, she said in a painc are you guys ok?
"Over there mum, Sarah faked sob, at some men that were running away from the blown up house," they started running the moment I screamed.
"You bastards! Celia screamed I fury, A flash of lightening and she was gone, Sarah watched with glee as Celia went to work below, the night sky lighting up occasionally as blue light shone on the streets.
Mark and Bella stared at themselves in disbelief. "Let's not get on her bad side, Mark whispered.
"Agreed, Bella whispered back.
"What are you guys whispering about, Sarah asked, Mum is going to catch the bad guys and we'll have our answers, she laughed sweetly, isn't this fun.
"Your idea of fun is twisted, Mark and Bella said together.
"Uh? Sarah looked confused.
The knights soon came by, Sarah silently pointed down below, the went to assist Celia without a word, soon they had a bunch of men tied up severely burnt and bruised, some were in tears. Celia stood, still in her bathrobe, holding a large club, she was back to normal but her angry gaze was still terrifying.
"Why were you after my kids? She asked coldly, not only did you try killing one of them, you had the guts to try kidnapping the others.
"But we didn't- one of the men tried speaking up, he didn't wake up till the other week, The Club kisses his Skull, there was a crack he went unconscious instantly.
"Call the Doctor, he's going to have to mend bones today, Celia said softly, the other men twitched as she approached them, Club scraping the ground. " You're all going to spill all and everything, down to your mother's name, she said coldly.
