Chapter 2 - I'm confused... But Sure!

He pushed himself up using only his legs, his ankles buckling under his weight as he struggled to lift himself off the ground.

He whimpered a bit as the burning pain surged throughout his body before truly grasping the view infront of him.

This wasn't an ordinary war...

A flying projectile came rushing toward him, barely missing his head by an inch.

The sheer speed of it left him no time to react, as it jammed a small cut along the side of his face.

Although he had never seen it in real life...he knew what he had witnessed from the first sight of it.

[Magic.]

He muttered slowly, rubbing the side of his face and looking down at the small smudge of blood on his fingertips.

[This world has magic.]

His eyes lit up slightly, completely forgetting that his arm was now completely gone.

Then—

~WOOSH

"State your brigade's code."

A female voice rang out behind him, stern and cold, she clearly meant business.

Cold sweat ran down, his face as he pondered if this is how his new life would end...

[S-Sorry?]

He mumbled quickly, stuttering on the first letter slightly.

Before he could even react or do anything.

A cold knife pressed itself beneath his chin, slowly sliding along his neck before stopping at the center of his throat, the blade grazing his skin and leaving a small mark.

The fear sent a shiver up his back...

He wasn't even 5 minutes into this world and he was already in a life or death situation.

He stiffened his posture, quickly raising his left arm as a sign of retreat.

[ I mean no harm ma'am! ]

He spoke in a overly stern voice, obviously forced, his voice slightly cracking under the last word.

Then—

A sudden tug pulled at his right arm.

Slowly, he began turning to the sensation he had felt.

Time seemed to slow, moving frame by frame.

A female, gripping right above the stump of a arm he once had.

Her hair was short and uneven, black in color.

She wore a cropped jacket over a plain white T-shirt, paired with long, red-striped baggy pants.

Even her shoes, simple black, fit the rest of her outfit perfectly.

She was undeniably beautiful, but her outfit didn't belong on a battlefield.

He giggled a nervous laugh, then mumbled,

[Uhh...so uhh...uhm...]

Then kept staring awkwardly.

> Say something you idiot!

He screamed at himself inside his own head, his mouth refusing to say another word.

He flinched as she tightened her grip, the pain flaring up a bit for a split second before dulling again.

She leaned forward, her posture precise, like a doctor examining a patient.

She had one hand over his stump of an arm, slightly squeezing it, and the other, placed over her mouth, as if deep in thought.

She studied his hand for a moment before quickly tearing a strip from her inner T-shirt and wrapping it tightly around the wound.

His eyes flicked to the strip she'd torn away, and his gaze fell lower than he meant to.

He quickly averted his gaze, his mind spinning into a jumbled mess…

>Th..That's her bra...

>Nope...no it isn't, you saw wrong.

He gave a little pat onto the side of his face,

>You're good... Your fine... That didn't happen...

Before he could overthink anymore,

"You need medical attention immediately or else you're bound to die in a few..."

She looked up, her gaze burning deep into his soul.

His muscles stiffened for a second as a sharp, electric shock ran up his body.

"I can tell from the gist of things that you're a civilian, you shouldn't be here, you could've died."

She spoke sharply, her tone leaving no room for argument.

He nodded instinctively, but inside his mind,

>I wanna go home... I wanna go home... I wanna go ho—

[Understood.]

She sighed, straightened up her posture, and looked over her shoulder, signaling for someone.

He followed her gaze for a moment, until a body crashed to his side.

His eyes tracked its fall.

A cold chill ran down his spine, as he watched the elf like creature's skin, slowly fade to white as its blood poured onto the ground...

The sight left him in a daze...

He had just witnessed a person die...right infront of him.

But then—

"Hey!"

A voice rang out again... This time infront of him.

He sighed...

It was another female, this one had on a scarf, pure white hair, her eyes a glossy blue.

She was wearing heavy armor from the neck down, pure black, with red signals engraved at the side of the arm.

"Hey! Listen to me!"

She spoke in a monotonic voice, quickly delivering two small taps to the side of his cheeks.

"You're in an active field of war, do you know tha—"

~ PNK... BOOOOM!!

Before she could finish, a massive crash tore through the air, cutting her sentence short.

It sounded almost as if two trucks crashed into one another.

Waves of sand flew up as they quickly raised their hand to protect their eyes.

He quickly covered his arm and turned the opposite direction.

>Sand in my wounds… that would be bad.

He nodded to himself, forcing his mind to focus on the current situation he was currently stuck in.

The area around them began to turn foggy, sand filled the air, along with thick smoke that had no scent, but was hard to breathe in.

He began coughing, as he turned to look in the direction the noise came from.

The armoured girl quickly took a stance for action, raising her arm as if to fire a projectile out of it, but before she could move—

A hand pressed onto her chest, cutting short her movement.

The girl that had placed a knife beneath his neck a few minutes ago, was now actively portraying the characteristics of a caring mother.

"I'll go check it out, take him to the medics, he'll die if we don't hurry."

She spoke sharply, eyes narrowing toward the source of the crash.

The girl nodded, darted forward, and lifted him as if he were a fragile, lost puppy then whispered something he couldn't quite make out.

A forcefield gradually appeared, it's transparency flickering slowly before steadying down to a dim blue color.

She then squatted for a few second, gave a salute to the other female before abruptly taking off into the air.

She flew up with insane force, the gravity pulling and stretching his face in each and every direction...

Before—

They were above the clouds... Soaring high enough as to witness the full view below...

Gleaming lakes, giant mountains, multiple different terrains all spliced together in an almost self-created way.

Birds flew that were multiple times bigger than him, through the transparent lake swam enormous fish that could only be classed as dinosaurs,

And above all else... The view was magnificent.

It was unlike anything he'd ever experience in his life before, it was as if he was a child all over again...

But before he could fully process all of it, an abrupt descent tore him away from the moment.

He began plummeting down from a height far greater than any mountain he had ever stood upon in his previous life.

Then she hit the ground, cracking and indented a small crater at her landing site.

He immediately grabbed his mouth with one hand, swallowing the vomit that had risen in his throat before lightly coughing and standing up.

[Where am—]

But before he could finish that sentence he dropped to his knees and rolled onto his side...

[ No... Energy... ]

He wheezed out as he was rushed by people wearing all white coats and old fashioned headlamps.

The amount of blood he'd lost was severe and his body had finally began to pay the price,

His vision flickered, his mind drifting in and out of consciousness as distant voices shouted orders to get him into the camp.

[I'm dying... Again.]

Then— NOTHINGNESS.

.

..

...

"...ey"

"...eyyy!!"

"HEYYY!!!"

He awoke abruply as a slap hit his face, the force twisting his cheek inward and bending his neck to the left.

[Hhhk...]

He blinked twice.

The girl in black armour grabbed the other girls hand,

"Calm down!"

She spoke irritatingly,

"HOW CAN I BE CALM WHEN THIS LITERAL KID WAS ON THE BATTLE FIELD!!"

>kid?

The statement had hit a nerve.

[DO I LOOK LIKE A KID TO YOU!]

His voice rang out sharp, silencing both of them for a split second.

The girl in black armor immediately bowed her head in apology.

"I'm sorry sir, my companion here is a bit angry you see."

She said turning towards her,

"I'm not!..."

She spoke, her voice stuttering as she continued.

"Well maybe just a bit."

She said, turning her head away from the both of them.

The girl in black sighed, fixing her hair, she then reached out her arm,

"My name is Hina... Hina Mizuku, and your's?"

He sat there staring awkwardly at her,

> Is this a seduction method? Why did she do all of that weird stuff?...

The memory of her flaunting her hair appeared in his thoughts.

> This is next level stuff...

He cleared his throat, then continued,

[ My name is shiro...]

"Mhmmm...?"

> Shit...she wants my full name.

[Shiro Fujikawa...Nice to meet you.]

He said, grinning a very forced smile, and reaching outward his hand instinctively...

[Huh...]

He then realized it,

His hand was back, he was sure he had lost his arm to that attack, but apparently the medics here can healalot more than he had originally thought, being able toregenerate entire limbs and heal body parts...

[My arms back...]

He whispered, looking at it from every direction.

Hina let out a small sigh before pointing to the other girl,

"Her name is Rei... Rei Fukami."

> Rei huh... She tried to slit my throat a few hours ago...

She nodded slightly,

"That is in fact my name."

"Good...now that that's clear."

Hina stiffened her posture, gazing down at him intensely.

"Why were you, a civilian, at the site of an active battlefield?"
