Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Lucky Mei

"Speaking of gems," Theresa recalled, "Aili has a broken gem in her hand. I tested it on-site at the time, and there was no obvious Honkai energy reaction."

"A broken gem? There shouldn't be any problem with a normal gem, right?" Himeko looked at Theresa, wanting to hear what Theresa had to say.

"Hmm, there's no problem with a normal gem, but the gem Aili found was discovered in Chiba Academy, and it was also in Chiba Academy that Aili discovered the Honkai energy crystal," Theresa directly stated what she knew.

"A Honkai energy crystal discovered by Aili?"

"Yes, that's why I later investigated Nagazora City again." Theresa nodded.

"And then you found other Honkai energy crystals, right? So, who exactly wants to trigger the Honkai in Nagazora City?" Himeko said seriously.

Yes, who exactly wants to deliberately trigger the Honkai?

Regarding everyone's guesses, Bronya probably already knew who it was, but she couldn't say, because that person was her mother. But, if she didn't say anything...

Bronya looked at Mei. Her mother told her that only by possessing the herrscher gem could she save Seele.

Seele, what should Bronya do?

"I don't know. These Honkai crystals were all embedded in various things, and after we traced the source of these things, we found that there were no commonalities. We can only say that the person behind this is very strong," Theresa stated the results of the investigation, which were very unsatisfactory.

Hearing this, Bronya breathed a sigh of relief, but she still cautiously glanced at Mei, silently apologizing to Mei in her heart.

After all, she still had a younger sister she needed to save...

"I thought Aunt would have some extra information! I still wanted to go beat up the person who framed Mei!" Kiana said discontentedly.

"Kiana." Mei looked at Kiana gently.

But she also knew that anyone who could casually trigger a major Honkai within Nagazora City was definitely not a simple person.

Especially her father.

"By the way, Dean, I want to know, can you tell me about my father's information?" Mei gritted her teeth and asked this question.

"Ah, Mei's father, Raiden Ryoma?" Theresa thought for a moment, "According to our investigation, your father was framed, but then he was rescued by a mysterious person, and after that, we lost all information."

"Is that so?" Mei breathed a sigh of relief. Since her father was rescued, it meant it was the people behind their family's ME Corp.

This meant her father was safe now.

"As for the follow-up investigation, Miss Rita will inform the Bishop," Rita said with a smile.

"Inform Grandpa? That's fine." Theresa nodded, "Rita, I'll leave it to you then. The Far East here will also continue the investigation."

"Understood, Miss Theresa. Miss Rita will inform the Bishop of this information later."

"Alright, there's nothing else left."

"Then what about that broken gem you mentioned earlier? Since it was found in Chiba Academy, it should have some other use, right?" Himeko said.

"There's no Honkai energy reaction, so it's definitely not anything useful." Theresa waved her hand. She just simply recalled that gem. It was already broken, what use was it? She wouldn't even want it if it were given to her.

"It's getting late. Everyone go rest," Theresa clapped the table, ending the impromptu meeting.

Hearing Theresa's words, Kiana immediately left and ran upstairs.

Bronya looked at Mei.

"What's wrong, Bronya?" Mei saw that Bronya wanted to say something.

"Mei sister." Bronya pulled Mei directly upstairs. She didn't want to talk here.

Rita looked at the tableware on the table and began to clean up by herself. She wondered what her captain was doing now, and if she had eaten well.

(The clueless goose, who was wandering somewhere, suddenly sneezed, then walked into a shop.)

Himeko and Theresa also went upstairs to rest.

Only Rita was left to clear the table.

Bronya pulled Mei directly into her room and closed the door.

"Mei sister, if Bronya ever does anything to offend Mei sister in the future, please don't hold back," Bronya said seriously.

Mei looked at the strange Bronya. "Bronya, do you know some other information?"

"Yes, but Bronya cannot say," Bronya lowered her head.

"If you can't say, then don't force yourself. After all, you must have your own reasons for not being able to say, right?" Mei stroked Bronya's head.

"Hmm, Bronya still has something she must do," Bronya said softly.

"Then I hope that what Bronya has to do will definitely succeed," Mei smiled.

She now knew that the Third Honkai Impact was not because of her, and she also knew that her father had been directly rescued by a mysterious person.

Now Mei no longer carried that heavy burden in her heart. Now, she only hoped that those who loved her and had always comforted her could live safely and carefree.

"Alright, Bronya, you should also get some good rest. I'll go downstairs first to help Miss Rita clean up the table."

When she went downstairs, Rita had already cleaned up the table.

Mei directly went into the kitchen to wash the dishes. Rita glanced from the doorway, said something to Mei, and then went upstairs.

After finishing the cleanup, Mei turned off all the lights on the first floor and went upstairs.

When she reached her door, Mei glanced at Aili's room.

Then she walked to the door of Aili's room, thought for a moment, quietly opened the door, and walked in.

She sat on Aili's bed, watching Aili frown from time to time.

Mei reached out and touched Aili's forehead, only exhaling in relief after confirming that Aili was fine.

Although she knew it was because Aili had drunk some beer, she really looked like she was sick.

Mei felt a lot of gratitude towards Aili.

If Kiana was the knight who pulled her out of the abyss...

Then Aili was the bonfire that warmed her in the darkness.

Aili treated everyone gently. Since Aili arrived at Saint Freya, Mei had never seen Aili angry.

And no one ever made Aili angry. Everyone would subconsciously put away their bad tempers when dealing with Aili.

Or perhaps, it was because Aili treated them too gently, making them reluctant to destroy that gentleness.

Mei reached out and touched Aili's face, looking at the night outside the window and saying, "Thank you, Aili."

Aili seemed to have heard her, and her tightly furrowed brows relaxed a bit.

Looking at Aili like this, Mei wondered what Aili would say if she weren't asleep.

Aili, she probably would smile and say to her, "Mei, you see, Aili told you, didn't she? A gentle child like Mei would never do bad things ♬~"

Thinking of this, Mei covered her mouth and laughed, then tears streamed down her face.

Indeed, Mei was very lucky. She could meet Kiana and Bronya, and she could also meet Himeko and Theresa, and finally, she met Aili.
