"This is bad…"
The moment Chen Mo saw it, he knew what kind of situation Pidgey was facing.
This was a particularly well-developed Fearow, larger than average even among its own kind. At a glance, Chen Mo understood—
This was a struggle for survival between species.
Faced with the sudden intrusion of a strange human, the hot-tempered Fearow had no intention of letting Pidgey go. Power gathered at the tip of its sharp beak once more as it locked onto the Pidgey in Chen Mo's arms and dove straight down.
"Pichu!"
Sensing Fearow's target, Chen Mo knew that at this point, there was no way he could abandon Pidgey.
Aura power fully unleashed. His focus sharpened to the extreme. Fearow's flight path became crystal clear in his vision.
"Now!"
Chen Mo rolled sideways at the critical moment. Fearow's razor-sharp beak grazed past him by a hair's breadth.
Almost simultaneously, Pichu—who had leapt in the opposite direction to dodge—sprang high into the air, crackling with surging electricity.
"Pichu—!"
A blazing bolt of lightning shot skyward once again. But this time, Fearow had already pulled up sharply, climbing to a higher altitude. Limited by range, the Electric-type attack still failed to land.
[This is bad… that Fearow looks insanely strong. Mo-bao, should you run?]
[Why do people always think about running when something goes wrong? Do you think Mo-bao can outrun a Fearow?]
[I feel like Fearow's main target is Pidgey. If Mo-bao just… sigh, forget it. With Mo-bao's personality, there's no way he'd do that.]
[Yeah. There's only one choice in front of Mo-bao now—fight Fearow to the bitter end. But with Pichu's current strength… sigh…]
[Mo-bao, I'm begging you—can you at least upgrade your livestream gear? This camera angle is making me anxious to death.]
Fearow's overwhelming presence etched itself into the hearts of countless viewers, their nerves stretched to the breaking point.
Chen Mo felt a surge of fear as well—but he didn't let panic rob him of reason.
His mind raced, desperately searching for a way out.
Compared to Fearow, the only—and very slim—chance they had lay with Pichu, who at least held a type advantage. On top of that, Fearow's moveset lacked long-range attacks.
This might be the key to turning the tables.
However—
At that very moment.
Fearow, circling in the sky, suddenly turned its head. Its already sharp gaze became terrifyingly intense.
Leer!
Alarm bells exploded in Chen Mo's mind.
He'd made a mistake—bringing too much of the game's logic into reality, overlooking a move that in the games merely lowered the opponent's Defense.
"Pichu, danger!"
Too late.
Fearow had deliberately aimed this move at Pichu.
The crushing pressure born of its far higher level of life was fully embodied in that Leer. On the ground, Pichu's face filled with terror, its body freezing involuntarily in place.
"Pi—!"
A cry rang out.
Just as Fearow's follow-up attack was about to strike again, the small Pidgey rushed forward. Flapping its wings with all its strength, it slammed into the immobilized Pichu, knocking it out of harm's way—
And was immediately struck in the side by Fearow's Peck, sent flying before crashing heavily to the ground, completely losing its ability to fight.
The scene stunned Chen Mo—and every single viewer watching.
[The little Pidgey…]
[Its injuries weren't even healed yet. Why would it rush out now? Why…]
[It'll be fine… right? Someone tell me it'll be fine.]
[Stop lying to yourselves. I'm devastated too, but even if it's still alive, so what? Are you expecting Pichu to beat Fearow and then rush over to save it?]
[I can't watch this anymore. Mo-bao, please—do something!]
Sweat dripped down, falling onto Pidgey's feathers as Chen Mo overexerted his aura power.
Feeling the desperation in the human holding it, and seeing its fellow kin—now critically injured after being hurt twice—something inside Pidgey surged violently.
It struggled with all its strength, turning toward the sky, toward the Fearow that threatened the lives of itself and its flock.
And then—
A miracle bloomed.
The first to sense it was Chen Mo himself. He had been about to calm Pidgey down, but the dazzling light that suddenly burst forth from its eyes made him freeze.
"This is…?"
The miracle contained within life itself was fermenting inside that radiance.
And this—
Was the first time countless viewers witnessed a Pokémon's evolution with their own eyes.
As the light expanded, they could clearly see the drastic changes taking place within it.
At last, the glow faded.
After a cry that echoed through the heavens, a Pidgeotto emerged from the light—its size no smaller than Fearow's, standing nearly as tall as Chen Mo beside it.
[This is—!!!]
[Evolution! This is definitely the evolution Mo-bao talked about!]
[Holy hell, this is insane. Pidgey evolving into Pidgeotto makes it so much cooler—its looks just skyrocketed!]
[There's hope now! Pidgey evolved! Even if it's not the final form, Pidgeotto shouldn't be weaker than Fearow!]
[Little Pidgey, hang in there!]
The sight filled Chen Mo with renewed vigor.
By all rights, Pidgey's accumulation should have allowed it to evolve long ago. For some reason, it had never succeeded—until now.
But that no longer mattered.
Chen Mo didn't dwell on it. Looking at the Pidgeotto beside him, he knew—
Their understanding no longer needed words.
"Pi-di!"
Pidgeotto let out a clear, piercing cry and beat its wings, soaring into the air. Its lightning-sharp gaze locked firmly onto Fearow in the sky.
Facing its old enemy's evolution, Fearow refused to be outdone, answering with a shrill screech of its own.
This would be—
Their final battle.
At the same time, Chen Mo hurried to the little Pidgey's side and checked its condition with [Eye of Detection].
After being injured twice, the small Pidgey's state was indeed terrible—hovering on the brink of death. Fortunately, the Potion used earlier hadn't fully worn off, barely keeping it alive.
"It can still be saved!"
Without hesitation, Chen Mo purchased another Full Heal Potion from the system shop and carefully sprayed it over the Pidgey's most severely injured areas.
Before long—
The warning indicators in the [Eye of Detection] interface shifted from deep red to a lighter shade. Its condition was rapidly improving.
The life-threatening crisis—
Had been resolved.
