A laugh bubbled in Jerome's throat.
"You're something else, Lady. You worry about me being a virgin instead of worrying about your reputation after I am done with you. I heard you are the dragon prince's fiancée." He grinned, and I grinned back.
"Yes, I am, and what about it? Do you not do an engaged female?"
"Wow,"
"And besides," I flicked his horn. "Reputation won't light a fire in my cold heart, honey."
"Spoken like a true inhabitant of the Spire," Jerome murmured. He didn't just stand there; his fingers tightened in my hair, tilting my head back at an angle that made it clear who was in control of the conversation, and strangely, I didn't mind. "Reputation is for people who are afraid of what they see in the mirror. You look like you enjoy the reflection a little too much."
