I feel Silas moving in behind me, his presence a familiar weight at my back. Before he can cross the threshold, I turn and press a hand against his chest, blocking his way.
"Where do you think you're going?"
He blinks at me, his face the picture of innocence. But I know him now—know the mischief hiding behind those soft brown eyes and exactly what that innocent expression means.

"This is my room." I keep my voice flat and unmoved. "Your room is separate. Go there."
