Chapter 5 - Ep.5 A Mother's Love For Her Daughter

In another part of the castle deep underground was a doorway.

But no matter how many times Damon had seen a door make of a black stone like substance he couldn't help but be amazed.

'I doubt even an Chaos Troll could push this door open. But this might be my last time down here so I'll make the most of it.' Damon thought to himself.

He had accepted his fate for his actions that seemed reasonable but very unethical.

But because of his actions he was he was frightened to even confront the book keeper before the sound of stone scraping against the metal door was heard.

And the moment the door was opened wide Damon saw her, the book keeper and guardian of the great archive.

A 8ft tall muscular elf woman with black hair wearing a eyepatch and smoking out of a pipe behind a desk while reading a book. Damon stepped up to the desk and bowed his head.

"Good afternoon your grace. I have come to look at the S-Rank spells and techniques. Corridor #578 Row #15 book #11" Damon said.

The woman who even the king feared was none other then Queen Margaret Salazan.

A single look could give even a drake a heart attack if the stories were to be believed but now Damon might experience it first hand.

"Has another adventurer made a name for itself? Or is Dotcanu finally training like his older brothers?" Margaret said after puffing a cloud of smoke from her pipe.

Damon only shook his head and started to explain what has happened involving Myaki and Aria while Margaret used a spell to shift the never ending bookshelfs.

And Damon saw a shift in Margaret's demeanor from boredom to curiosity.

"A commoner boy the same age as my daughter killed a 7th Star beast with a single attack? Interesting... seems a royal family meeting is to happen soon." Margaret said as she pulled a book out from the shelf behind her.

Since Margaret was an Elf she was very old and her knowledge was quite vast.

But in all of her very long life she has had only 4 children after marrying Hector Salazan. And the most precious one among the 4 was her daughter Aria who reminded her of her younger self.

But while Damon opened the book given by Margaret, Margaret herself pondered a thought.

'Did my warding's around Tuonku already begin to corrode? Normally any 5th star beast and above can't come close.' Margaret thought.

Wards were on the line of magic and a skill as they could be used as powerful barriers or it could be used to seal something away.

But in the Kingdom of Tuonku all warding's fell under jurisdiction of the royal family and Margaret herself manages all the wards in the kingdom.

Margaret was left to her thoughts before she stopped hearing the sound of pages flipping one by one.

But Margaret knew the look on Damon's face as she had seen in thousands of times ever since he first stepped foot in her library.

"I am sorry for wasting your time your grace and I wish to say goodbye as I may never step foot in your halls again after the Royal Family meeting." Damon said while almost banging his head on the desk while he bowed.

Margaret however smirked as she already knew of what he had done.

"It will be up to my daughter wether or not to punish you for administering your paralyzing concoction to the boy." Margaret said.

"No action in the castle goes unseen in your eyes my queen. But I still hope to see you again." Damon said before leaving.

But all Margaret could see was the same boy who swore an oath to the royal family.

Meanwhile Myaki was staring at the clear blue skies thinking of how much his life had changed in such a short time while eating bread and soup.

It wasn't a lavish meal but for Myaki it was a feast.

*Knock**Knock**Knock*

"Myaki? It is Kentola, lady Aria's knight. May I enter?" Kentola said from the other end of the door.

Moments later the door was opened only slightly which allowed Myaki to see Kentola was alone.

"Did the lady send you? Is she too busy to see her prisoner face to face?" Myaki said.

Kentola was baffled by Myaki's words only to realize that they weren't entirely wrong.

"You aren't a prisoner of the royal family but an honored guest. Once the royal family meeting is finished and you are healed then you may leave." Kentola said.

"Held in a castle against my wishes unable to leave and always being watched by the maids and guards. Just because you gave me good food and a nice bed doesn't mean it isn't a prison cell." Myaki said while Kentola and even Margaret were silent.

Here they were trying to help Myaki and make his stay at the castle comfortable before the royal family meeting took place.

But for Myaki's mind it wasn't that simple as his untrusting nature was rooted deep, especially for nobles.

Myaki's hatred ran deep into his soul and the more they tried to help the more it grew for Myaki in Kentola's eyes.

"I can see your hatred and anger as clear as the sun but not everyone is a villain to you. I was once a common sell sword living day to day. That was before meeting Princess Aria who chose me to be her knight." Kentola said.

Kentola was a commoner like Myaki but until other young women her age she chose to become a sell sword mercenary.

The rewards were horrible and the clients she took jobs from were even more so.

"I thought I would be stuck as a sell sword. But that all changed at the battle of Yoligau Harbour. I was the sole survivor of my squad and thought I would die there." Kentola said while subconsciously rubbing her left forearm where there was a scar.

The scars were memories of all her battles and Kentola could remember every battle no matter how small the detail.

Some memories only gave Kentola nightmares and the memories of the battle of Yoligau Harbour was one of those.

The battle had lasted 7 months and 18 days, war without end for both sides.

"I should have died but Princess Aria and the Crown Prince came and ended the battle." Kentola said.

The Crown Prince, Akatua Salazan. Some call him the Son of the Demon while others call him the Noble Hero.

Like his father the king, Akatua was born to fight. Swords, spears, axes, hammers and daggers, no weapon couldn't be mastered in Akatua's hand.

It was said the Akatua strangled a rock drake at the age of 11. Others say he formed a pact with an elder lich who was an elite type of undead.

But Myaki? He couldn't care less if they were true or not. That didn't mean he thought Akatua was merely pretending to be strong.

"I guess the prince and princess swooped in and took all the glory huh? Life's cruel to all of us." Myaki said.

Kentola finally snapped as Myaki had just insulted her saviors and the memories of her old comrades to her face.

"That's enough! You assume the worst when you don't know what happened! After the battle was finished and the dead were buried the princess herself petitioned the King to create a monument dedicating to those who died. No one was given any glory of any kind! All I was given was grief!" Kentola yelled while Myaki felt guilt stirring in his heart.

Myaki was silent while Kentola started to tear up while remembering the pain and sorrow she experienced for months.

"I don't care if your stronger then me or if the king wants to reward you for saving the princess. If you insult the memories of my friends and all they have done then I will kill you!" Kentola said while a silent Myaki had begun to see that he was wrong.

"I'm... I'm sorry." Myaki said before the door was opened only for Myaki and Kentola to see Queen Margaret enter in her royal garments.

"Your majesty I-"

"It's alright Kentola, I heard everything. I would like a moment with Myaki alone." Margaret said.

If anyone in the kingdom of Tuonku was stronger then the King Himself, it would be the Queen.

It was an undeniable fact that even Myaki believed as he sensed a drastic change in the air the moment Margaret step in the room.

It was as if a thousand invisible knives were hovering around her.

"Yes your majesty." Kentola didn't dare to disobey a direct order and left.

The silence was deafening between Myaki and Margaret as the two starred at each other until one of them broke the silence.

"What is your name, your full name." Margaret asked.

Myaki gritted his teeth as he knew Margaret was no fool.

"Myaki... Druga..." Myaki said before Margaret instantly placed a triple barrier around the entire room.

Not even a dragon could break in and would be repelled.

'It's as I feared... he's the son of the dragon.' Margaret thought to herself.
