Chapter 16 - Urban Missions [II]

Klaus kicked the last Tushboa Boar across the face, breaking it apart and killing the monster… He had transferred Iron Skin from his right hand to his foot.

"And that's the last of them…" He muttered while taking another deep breath.

After the initial punch and finding out how strong he was with Iron Skin turning the chosen limb into metal, he experimented with it while killing the Boars, unlike the monstrosities such as Orcs and Razorwing Hornets that he had faced, these monsters were pretty simple.

When the boars charged, they dedicated their whole bodies into it so it was easy to dodge and then strike them from the side so with that in mind, he experimented.

Iron Skin made the limb completely metal including everything inside which brought numbness when he deactivated the spell but that was not the major thing about it.

Iron Skin could also be used in tandem with his other spell, Magnetic Field just like the way he controlled his swords… He could make the limb vibrate and also increase the speed of the attack as well.

He returned the floating swords around him into his storage ring while dismissing Iron Skin making his leg return to normal though it felt numb.

Elein's farmland was officially cleared of any sort of monsters and the brown middle aged woman ran toward him from outside the broken fence with a small smile on her face.

"Thank you very much, Adventurer. You seem very experienced, I'm glad you came here today." Elein said, she hadn't expected someone so thorough especially since this was a D-rank mission, usually hot-headed Adventurers that caused more harm than good answered these missions but this man had cleared all of the monsters while minimizing the damages he caused too.

"You don't have to worry, I'm just doing my job." Klaus said while leaning down, he needed to suck the ten boars that he had killed into his storage ring and report them back to the Guild. "I just hope that this won't hinder you much, the foodstuff that you produce really are amazing."

Apparently the woman also had several stalls dedicated to selling her produce in the town, she was really successful according to Taula.

Elein blushed.

"Th-thank you and this is just a minor setback, not all was lost and this is only one of my Farmlands so that won't stop me from continuing." Elein stuttered, who complimented a woman by her foodstuff?

"That's very good." Klaus said and then looked up at her. "I'm new to this but is there anything you do to my card or… I saw the mission paper sink in so I was confused."

'Oh so he's new?' She thought, that would make sense. Elein hadn't seen a young man like this before and she'd know since she kept a tab of the handsome men in the town.

"Yes, please give me your Guild Card." Elein said while placing both hands on her waist and Klaus looked at the pie tattoo summoning his card out. "After you finish a mission, the person that has given you the mission will tap your card to confirm that the mission was done well so make sure that your card is always tapped."

The brown haired woman tapped on his card and it lit up in a violet glow as new information appeared alongside the former information that was already there.

「Guild Points: 25」

His Guild Points had gone up to 25 from 15… now he needed a lot more to reach 150 and rank up to becoming a C-rank Adventurer but that wasn't the only new thing there.

「Missions Completed: 1」

—--> 「Missions Accomplished: 1」

—--> 「Missions Failed: 0」

「Mission Completion Rate: 100%」

These were the new things that popped up when he looked at his card, so far his Mission Completion rate was 100% and if he remembered what Astrid said correctly, the higher his Mission Completion rate, the more points he earned.

"Alright thank you." Klaus said while extending his hand on the corpse of the monster he had just killed and sucking it into his storage ring, preparing to do it for the nine other monsters as he returned his Guild Card.

"Ah… your name was Klaus, right? Would you mind coming for lunch with me…? Maybe later today." Eleine said and Klaus thought about it.

"I'll have to decline, I'll be pretty busy for the rest of today." He said, if possible he planned to make headway into that 150 Guild Points to become a C-rank.

"I see." Eleine said. "That doesn't matter, when you're free, you can come here to find me anytime. Now you can be on your way…"

He nodded at her and gathered up the corpses into his Storage Ring before heading back to the Guild.

"Congratulations Klaus on finishing your first mission." Astrid told him with a joyous smile on her face.

It was almost like she was the one that had finished the mission instead. "Everything has been calculated… including the bodies of the Boars that you brought, apparently a local restaurant was in urgent need of the Boars so we got to sell them easily."

Klaus blinked, he had just dropped them off in the measuring room and it was already sold? When the hell did that happen?

Astrid opened her drawer and placed a total of 9 silvers on her table.

"With the GUILD collecting tax, you've made 9 silvers in total which is quite high." Astrid said as she packaged it into a pouch and gave it to Klaus who stuffed it into his storage ring. "Now I'm sure you've seen the new tabs on your card."

"The mission stuff, I've seen it." He said and Astrid nodded.

"Good, like I said earlier, the Mission Completion rate matters. If you fail a mission then your Guild Points will be detected and it will also reflect poorly on your status so try to keep a slate with a good amount of accomplished missions and a lesser amount of failed missions, When you take missions under nobles, a lot of them like to know your Mission completion rate and the amount of failed missions as well so it's important to know your limits to keep your scores high."

"I see…" Klaus said while looking at his card. "Then I'll have to keep a good slate."

Which meant he would target missions that he was very sure he could defeat, the A-rank Adventurer who hasn't failed a single mission sounded nice in his ears.

"If you're planning to take on new missions, the mission board got updated when you left." Astrid said. "There are a lot more missions now, also try to take group missions for a higher chance of completing missions."

"I see…" He walked over to the Mission board for the second time today. 'Fuck Groups…'

So what… if it was a group mission, he had to share his hard earned money with a bunch of fuckers that he didn't even know.

He would rather do it alone and reap the fruits of his labor by himself, besides what if they back-stabbed and killed him?

There were just a lot of things that could happen which he didn't like.

Now he was at the mission board and unlike earlier, he looked at different missions quickly… A mission that had a good pay with good Guild Points as a reward as well.

Whenever he found a good one, before he could reach out to it, another Adventurer snagged it immediately and Klaus really felt like smashing someone's head in; however he saw one that he could get behind.

「Mission: Kill All The Slimes In The Galen Sewers」

「Reward: 7 Silvers, 15 Guild Points」

'Ah… what a steal.' He took the mission paper, 15 Guild Points? It was pretty surprising, why hadn't this mission been taken in the first place?

He returned to Astrid's table and dropped the Mission Paper on the table.

"Here this is the one I want…" Klaus said and she looked at the paper before looking at him like she was sorry for him.

"If you want to do this one… I suggest that you buy a neutral spell because the smell down there is ugh…" Astrid's face twitched in disgust. "Make sure you bath before coming here too and buy Protective gear as well."

She hadn't even placed the mission paper in his GUILD card, Astrid stood up and pushed him over to the Pawner's side of the GUILD soon standing in front of the monocled man who had just finished doing business with a customer.

"We need a whole sewer exploring kit, the best one that you have." Astrid said and Klaus glanced at her.

"Who's paying?"

"You of course."

The lid of the Galen Sewer closed above Klaus as he steadily climbed the ladder downward, he was wearing a whole new set of clothes which were black and with a helmet on his head too.

According to the Pawner, they had certain enchantments that converted toxic air into normal air and he sold it for 7 silvers which was a good chunk of his last earnings but at least he made sure to get a larger size just in case he grew into it.

Klaus reached the bottom and landed on the ground which was a long platform, there were two platforms that you could use to enter the Sewers and in the middle of them was the green sewer water but that wasn't Klaus's main concern.

There were slimes crawling everywhere in this sewer so he was going to take revenge on that first slime that dodged all of his sword strikes. Klaus narrowed his eyes on the closest slime and immediately ran toward it.

'I'm going to have a field day with this…' He was right in front of the slime and he reared his foot backward using Iron Skin to turn it completely to metal and he kicked the slime, letting it soar into the air with force and pop completely spreading slime goo over the ground as the core fell into the green liquid with a splash.

'Ha! Take that slime!'

Now he needed to do the exact same thing to dozens more…
