Ivy, now Aya, stared at the screen, feeling her composure crack with each second.
"So let me get this straight. I am in a werewolf world, in someone else's body, with no memories of this person's life, with subjects who hate me, five husbands who apparently hate me because of some curse, and powerful abilities I cannot even use, and you are telling me I have to earn them back?!"
[Yes! Host grasps the situation quickly. Very good]
"What kind of ridiculous situation am I even in?!" she shouted at the screen.
It didn't respond, and just hovered there with its cheerful text mocking her.
"Oh my God." She turned away from the screen, but it still followed her, this time at the side of her head and thankfully not blocking her main view.
"Who even has five husbands in the first place?" She stopped on the way to the open bathroom, lost in thought. "Just what kind of—maybe slapping was too much but why am I being punished for standing my ground?"
[Previous Luna never bothered with actual authority]
[She simply screamed and threw things like a toddler]
[Host's approach is marginally more dignified]
[Congratulations! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و]
Aya glared sideways at the screen, unimpressed. What was it even congratulating her for?!
"Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence. Really feeling the support there after you had already told me I had made a wrong decision."
[This system admits... that was satisfying to watch]
Aya was quiet for a few seconds before responding to it. "Yet, you still punished me for it."
[I didn't punish you for it]
[All I did was let you know the consequences of your actions]
[Right or wrong]
[You did good. Do not let my compliment go to Host's head]
"Compliment? Which kind—"
[Host is still a degenerate who died with a—]
"Ahhhhh. I get it. I get it!" Aya quickly cut it off, waving her hands wildly over the screen as if to block herself from reading the rest of whatever the system would churn out. Her face heated up in embarrassment and she shook her head. "Can we please establish a new rule? No bringing up Trevor or the stadium incident from now on!"
[Trevor?]
[...]
[HOST NAMED IT?!]
[(·•᷄ࡇ•᷅ )]
[This system is accessing surface thoughts...]
Aya stiffened, staring at the screen in horror. She felt so silly she hadn't thought of it before. Especially about how the system had known about her life before coming here.
[Oh. Oh no.]
[Host gave the artificial instrument a human name]
[This system needs to recalibrate Host's degeneracy level]
[Updated Assessment: MAXIMUM]
"It is not that weird!" Aya protested, her face burning. "People name their cars! Their plants! And oh my God, this is the one and only time I had ever gotten a toy!"
[(¬‿¬)]
Aya threw her hands up, irritated. "You know what? I will go take my bath. Leave me alone!"
She went through the sliding door that had been left open, wanting to clean herself up a bit and clear her head while also trying to think through her new reality logically without feeling like screaming.
Aya stopped and stared at what could only be described as the most elaborate bathing setup she had ever seen in her life.
The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom itself. The floor was polished white marble with veins of gold running through it. A enormous sunken tub embedded into the floor sat at the end of the room, filled with steaming hot water. A raised rocky platform surrounded it, followed by a wide mat that sat in front of the round tub.
There were shelves and low cabinets attached to the wall with several glass bottles labelled and filled with different coloured liquids. There were also neatly folded towels, and sponges and brushes, along with several items Aya could not even begin to guess just exactly what they were used for due to the sheer amount.
And hanging on a hook near the tub was that a robe.
Wardrobes lined the other walls, and a frosted glass partition separated what looked like a dressing area.
She made her way to the bathtub and stared at the water. Hoping the maids hadn't poisoned the water or something, she managed to pick out the liquid scented soap amongst the other things on the shelf and removed her clothes to enter the water.
As she sank down until the water reached her shoulders, the weight of her situation came crashing down on her.
And no amount of soothing from the tingling hot water could take her mind off the fact that she had just died and left her family behind… regardless of the ridiculousness of the situation.
She hoped her parents, sister and other relatives wouldn't be too sad at her passing, but the knowledge still brought a small wave of pain with it.
And to make matters worse, the second chance at life she had been given was as a werewolf ruler with five husbands who hated her.
After washing herself quickly and figuring out how to drain the water and rinse the tub, thankfully with a functioning tap system available, she took one of the towels and started wiping herself as she headed to the partition.
Behind it, she found a large standing mirror.
Water droplets clung to skin that was undeniably gorgeous. This body was a bit more athletic than her old body.
Aya stood still, mesmerised by how good she now looked.
"Wow…"
She turned slightly, checking the view from different angles. Original Luna might have been stupid, but she had clearly never skipped leg day.
Still…
How had the owner of this body even died in the first place?
[It seems new Host shares previous Host's vanity]
Aya sighed, her shoulders sagging as the annoying system popped up again.
"I am not vain," she grumbled, shooting a glare at the screen before quickly wrapping the towel around her body. "What happened to the owner of this body?"
The screen flickered, and the text that appeared made Aya's blood run cold.
[Previous Host was killed in her sleep with venom]
[Her soul departed just as you moved in]
[Very convenient timing!]
Her grip loosened on the towel. "What?"
[Perpetrator remains unknown]
[This system suggests Host move carefully from now on]
Aya's face went pale, still reeling from shock. "Oh my God."
[Also, your first quest has been assigned!]
The screen expanded, and new text appeared.
[QUEST: SURVIVE YOUR FIRST DAY]
[Objective: Don't die (again)]
[Reward: Basic Wolf Senses Unlocked]
