The first one lunged and Ashara stepped away.
Her back foot swept behind her as she let the creature sail past, already turning when it landed. The momentum carried her forward and she drove her fist into the side of its head before it could scramble around.
The thing's skull caved in with a wet crunch and it hit the ground twitching.
[Oh.] Ashara pulled her fist back. [Oh.]
That felt good.
The second one came at her low, claws scraping stone. Ashara shifted her weight to her lead foot, let her hips rotate, and kicked it across the jaw hard enough to send it tumbling into the base of a pillar. It tried to get up. She closed the distance in two steps, one movement bleeding into the next the way Celeste had drilled into her, and brought her heel down on its neck.
It stopped moving.
