Chapter 32 - The Road Beyond the Kingdom

The night over the kingdom had finally become calm.

For many days the skies had carried tension—fear of shadows, whispers of the dark sect, and uncertainty that hung over every street like a storm waiting to break. But now the air felt different. Lanterns glowed across the city, warm and steady, as if the kingdom itself was breathing again after a long struggle.

From the highest terrace of the royal palace, four figures stood silently.

Lin leaned lightly against the stone railing, his eyes observing the distant lights of the capital. Beside him stood Lucifer, arms crossed, his gaze fixed toward the horizon where the mountains darkened the sky.

Luna sat on the edge of the terrace wall, swinging one leg lazily as if the entire series of events had only been mild entertainment for her.

And slightly behind them stood Emilie, quietly watching the city that had just been saved.

The wind brushed across the palace roofs, carrying with it the faint sounds of celebration from the streets below.

The dark sect that had quietly spread its influence through the kingdom had finally been exposed and destroyed.

The danger that had stretched from Chapter One to Nine had ended.

Yet none of the four looked like heroes basking in victory.

Because they all knew something important.

This was only one stop in a much longer journey.

Footsteps approached from behind them.

A graceful young woman in royal attire stepped onto the terrace. Her long silver-blue hair flowed softly in the wind, and her calm emerald eyes rested immediately on Lin.

Princess Seraphina Valerith.

Since the events of the past days, she had grown strangely quiet whenever Lin was nearby.

But tonight, she walked forward with steady resolve.

"The kingdom owes you all more than words can repay," she said gently.

Lucifer gave a small shrug.

"We didn't do it for rewards."

Luna laughed softly.

"Speak for yourself. I wouldn't mind a few treasures."

Seraphina smiled faintly at Luna's words, but her gaze slowly returned to Lin.

"You uncovered the truth behind the dark sect," she continued. "Without your insight, we might never have seen the threat until it was too late."

Lin simply shook his head.

"Strategy only works when others can act upon it."

He glanced briefly toward Lucifer and Luna.

Lucifer snorted quietly.

"That's a polite way of saying we did the dangerous work."

Luna stretched her arms lazily above her head.

"Well, someone has to do the fighting while our scholar thinks."

Despite the teasing, there was clear respect in her voice.

For the past several days, Lin had once again proven something that many people often forgot.

A sword could win battles.

But a mind could end wars before they began.

Seraphina took a step closer.

"So… you will leave tomorrow?"

Lin nodded.

"The clue from the tomb points toward another location."

He unfolded a worn page from his sleeve.

The mysterious paper—the only remnant they had found where the third book should have been.

A single phrase written in ancient script.

"The White Silence remembers."

The words had guided them to this kingdom.

And now, after everything that had happened, Lin believed the next clue had revealed itself.

Another location.

Another piece of the mystery.

Another danger waiting somewhere beyond the borders of this land.

"We cannot stay," Lin said quietly.

Lucifer turned his head toward the dark mountains in the distance.

"And the sooner we move, the better."

Luna jumped down from the terrace wall, landing lightly beside them.

"Besides," she said with a grin, "it's getting boring here."

Seraphina's fingers tightened slightly at her side.

"I thought you might say that."

For a moment, she said nothing.

Then she slowly removed a small silver pendant from around her neck.

It carried the crest of the royal family.

She stepped forward and gently placed it into Lin's hand.

"If you ever return to this kingdom," she said softly, "this will open any door for you."

Lin looked at the pendant for a moment.

Then he closed his hand around it.

"…Thank you."

Lucifer glanced sideways at Luna.

"Looks like someone made quite an impression."

Luna smirked.

"Oh please. Our strategist collects admirers wherever he goes."

Lin ignored them completely.

The wind grew slightly stronger, carrying the scent of distant forests.

Below the palace, the city lights flickered like a sea of stars.

Seraphina took one last look at the four of them.

"You came here as strangers," she said quietly.

"But you will always be remembered here as the ones who saved this kingdom."

Luna waved a hand dismissively.

"Just make sure no more dark sects show up after we leave."

Lucifer cracked his knuckles.

"Next time you might have to handle it yourselves."

Emilie stepped forward then, her voice soft but steady.

"The kingdom is stronger now."

Seraphina nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Her gaze lingered on Lin one final time.

Then she turned and walked away, her footsteps fading into the quiet halls of the palace.

Silence returned to the terrace.

For a while, none of them spoke.

Then Luna stretched again and sighed dramatically.

"Well."

"That's another kingdom saved."

Lucifer smirked.

"And another mystery waiting."

Lin looked once more at the worn paper in his hand.

His mind was already moving, connecting clues that no one else could see yet.

The third book was still missing.

But the path toward it had begun to reveal itself.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Piece by piece.

Lin folded the paper and tucked it away.

"Tomorrow," he said quietly.

"We leave."

Lucifer nodded.

Luna grinned.

Emilie simply stood beside them.

Far beyond the kingdom walls, the road stretched into darkness.

Into unknown lands.

Into new dangers.

But the four of them would walk it together.

The struggles of this kingdom had ended.

The shadows of the dark sect had been erased.

And the journey toward the truth of the nine books continued.

As the night deepened, the four figures left the terrace one by one.

The lanterns of the kingdom continued to shine peacefully below.

And somewhere beyond the mountains—

another story was already waiting to begin.
