Chapter 110 - The Missing Mutant Case

Yesterday was Logan's birthday. As his half-brother, Victor has always sought Logan out on his birthday for a man-to-man battle, a tradition they've maintained for years.

But when Victor went to find Logan yesterday, he discovered that Logan was gone. Even with his tracking skills, Victor couldn't find any trace of him.

According to Logan's coworkers, he hadn't shown up for work in days. Trusting his beastly instincts, Victor felt that something had happened to Logan.

His intuition had never failed him.

Despite their frequent fights, Victor cared deeply for his younger brother. Unable to find Logan himself, he immediately had Red Devil bring him here to seek Charles's help.

"I'll help you look," Charles said without hesitation after hearing Victor's account.

Han Shaoqing, who had overheard Victor from a distance, approached with Artoria.

The group proceeded to the Cerebro Chamber.

After flipping several switches, Charles donned the helmet connected to the Cerebro.

The Cerebro greatly amplified Charles's Telepathy ability.

However, there was a minor drawback: hair obstructed the connection between Charles's brain and the Cerebro. While the obstruction wasn't significant, it still hindered the full potential of his abilities.

Only a bald head could maximize the Cerebro's effectiveness.

Thus, baldness was Charles's ultimate destiny—an inescapable law of nature!

Of course, Charles didn't know this yet. He cherished his hair dearly; even his closest friend Erik would face his wrath if he dared to touch it.

After putting on the helmet and connecting to the Cerebro, the room's lighting shifted, and countless light points appeared.

Blue points represented ordinary humans, while red points represented Mutants.

At that moment, nearly all humans and Mutants on Earth were present in Charles's mind.

If he willed it, he could wipe out over 99% of the planet's population in a matter of seconds!

Fortunately, Charles was a good-natured soul. If such power were in the hands of a tyrannical population controller like Thanos, he'd likely randomly halve the population of every planet he passed through.

Thinking about Thanos desperately trying to maintain cosmic balance by reducing the population, while in his previous life, the world was encouraging third children, Han Shaoqing found it absurd. *How could they afford to raise so many?*

While Han Shaoqing was mentally grumbling, Charles had already begun linking with the consciousness of Mutants worldwide.

After a long while, Charles removed the helmet.

"Anything?" Han Shaoqing asked.

"No sign of Logan," Charles replied, rubbing his temples. The Cerebro amplified his mental powers, flooding his mind with a cacophony of voices. If not for his unparalleled mental fortitude, he might have gone mad from the sheer volume of information.

Even so, Charles was mentally exhausted.

Perhaps the overuse of his abilities would contribute to his eventual dementia in old age.

Hearing this, Victor grew increasingly uneasy.

Through the amplified power of the Cerebro Chamber, Charles's Telepathy could cover the entire surface of the Earth. Yet he still couldn't find Logan.

This left only two possibilities:

1. Logan had left Earth's surface or gone to a location that could block Telepathy.

2. Logan was dead—the dead couldn't be sensed.

But Logan possessed an extraordinary healing factor, a century-old veteran of World Wars I and II who had survived countless battles. It seemed impossible for him to die so easily.

The most likely explanation was that he had been captured and locked away in a room designed to block Telepathy.

Now that Charles's abilities have been exposed, many major powers have begun building structures that block Telepathy or equipping them with telepathic jamming devices. As these locations become increasingly common, there are now many areas Charles cannot scan.

"Logan should be fine, but I've discovered that some of the Mutant children I previously marked have also gone missing. It's likely some organization is secretly capturing Mutants!"

Charles was worried. He had been busy teaching the children and hadn't used Cerebro for some time. To his surprise, when he checked today, he found that over twenty of the Mutant compatriots he had marked were missing.

This was no accident—someone was targeting Mutants.

"Charles, try marking the missing Mutants and the areas you can't scan," Han Shaoqing said.

Mutants were not only valuable subordinates to him but also one of his primary sources for claiming rewards by checking in.

Anyone who dared to snatch food from a tiger's mouth would be annihilated by Han Shaoqing.

Charles put on his helmet again and marked the locations of the missing Mutants and the areas he couldn't scan.

Han Shaoqing compared the map and found that in the areas with the most missing Mutants, three of them were shielded from Telepathy.

One of these locations was on Three Mile Island in the United States.

"It has to be here, that bastard William Stryker."

Seeing Three Mile Island marked on the map, Victor immediately knew this was the place.

In 1961, he and Logan had participated in America's Weapon X Program. At the time, the military had assembled a special unit of Mutants primarily tasked with carrying out secret international missions that the US couldn't publicly acknowledge.

Victor and Logan were assigned to a black ops team under the CIA, also known as X-Team. Its members included Deadpool (Wade Wilson), Wraith (John), Agent Zero (David), Blob (Fred Dukes), and others.

The commander of the team was William Stryker.

In early 1962, while X-Team was operating in Africa to hunt for Adamantium Ore, they slaughtered an entire tribe. Logan, unable to tolerate such brutality, resolutely left X-Team.

Later, Sabretooth Victor was discovered by the White Queen and joined the Hellfire Club, leading to subsequent events.

Victor knew about Three Mile Island because he had worked with Stryker for a while and was aware of his deep-seated hatred for Mutants and his experiments on them.

Originally, Victor hadn't cared much about this. But Logan was his brother, his own flesh and blood!

To just snatch people without even adding money to the deal—how could Victor not be furious?

Hearing Victor's words, Han Shaoqing also remembered the plot of *X-Men Origins: Wolverine*.

Originally, Logan should have become Wolverine around 1983, the same year Apocalypse was resurrected, and the experiments should have taken place at a dam base.

Now it had been moved up, and the location had changed. Was this a disruption of the timeline, or a butterfly effect?

After a moment's thought, Han Shaoqing said, "Summon Old Man Magneto and the New Recruits. Prepare for battle."

In reality, any one of them—Han Shaoqing, Erik, or the others—could have easily resolved the Three Mile Island situation.

The reason for calling up the newly recruited Mutants was primarily to expose them to the harsh realities of the world early on. Han Shaoqing didn't want to raise a bunch of hothouse flowers.
