Chapter 120 - Charles's Journey Abroad for Studies

"Hmph, is that all you've got?"

Seeing Quicksilver and Han Shaoqing arm in arm, Magneto Eric, accompanied by his two daughters, swooped down, his voice sharp as he chastised Pietro.

Much had changed over the years. Eric, for instance, had taken three wives, two of whom had borne him two beautiful daughters.

One was Polaris Lorna Dane.

The other was Elise Freya, the Druid.

Both daughters took their mothers' surnames.

Polaris Lorna, now 21, had inherited Magneto's powers, allowing her to control Earth's magnetic field. With her striking green hair and rebellious nature, she had already reached the mid-stage of Tier 3 as a Mutant. Three years prior, she had taken an improved version of the Super Soldier Serum, which far surpassed normal humans in both superpower, physical strength, and combat skills, making her a formidable close-quarters mage.

Elise, the Druid, was 19. Her abilities included communicating with animals, commanding them to fight for her, and transforming into any animal she touched. She was an early-stage Tier 3 Mutant.

Upon seeing Polaris and Elise, Han Shaoqing smiled. "Lorna, Elise, it's been a while. You've both grown so much. Come here, Uncle will give you a hug."

"Get lost! They're Wanda's sisters!"

The more Eric looked at Han Shaoqing, the more he disliked him.

They had promised to be brothers for life, yet Han Shaoqing had secretly married his daughter and was now shamelessly eyeing his other two.

*Show some damn shame, you pervert!*

"Let's just call things what they are," Han Shaoqing said with a disarming smile. "I'll call you Father-in-law, and you call me Big Brother. No harm done."

Eric's knuckles cracked as he clenched his fist. He snorted coldly, and a sharp Adamantium spear plummeted from the sky, hurtling toward Han Shaoqing's face.

Ignoring the flying spear, Scarlet Witch Wanda intervened, using her Chaos Magic to halt it in mid-air.

Han Shaoqing flicked the Adamantium spear away and turned to Eric. "At your age, still so hot-headed? You really planned to stab me?"

"Hmph. Wouldn't have killed me anyway."

Seeing Wanda siding with her husband, Eric's face darkened. He retracted the spear, sat down, and warned Lorna and Elise, "Stay away from this old lecher from now on. He's no good."

He then turned his venom on Han Shaoqing. "You're practically ancient, yet you're still chasing young girls. You married a wife, but where's the heir? Can't you even get it up anymore?"

Han Shaoqing was immediately displeased.

He'd accept being called a pervert.

He wouldn't even mind being called a bad person.

But no man could be told he was *incapable*!

"Wanda, tell your father I'm perfectly capable."

"Ugh, can't you be more serious?"

Wanda rolled her eyes at Han Shaoqing, her cheeks flushing slightly. She pulled her two younger sisters to the side to chat.

Han Shaoqing turned to Eric. "Marriage is true love, children are accidents. My constitution surpasses most gods; I'll live for hundreds of millions of years. What's a few decades compared to that?"

"Besides, I've saved humanity from destruction countless times as the Sea King and King of the Earth's Core. After decades of tireless work, can't I enjoy myself a little?"

"You yourself have three wives and at least fifty women you've been with, not to mention countless illegitimate children. If you can run around like that, why can't the mighty Sea King... *care for* a few more girls?"

*That almost sounds reasonable...*

*Pah.*

*Shameless and brazen.*

*You just want my daughters' bodies. You're pathetic.*

Eric was left speechless.

Unable to out-argue him, and certainly unable to out-fight him, Eric decided he didn't want to talk to Han Shaoqing anymore. He resolved to keep a closer eye on his two younger daughters in the future, lest this lecher snatch them away.

"You guys chat, I'll go get some beef."

Quicksilver Pietro felt a bit awkward standing there, so he darted off before anyone could say anything.

His father, Eric, was indeed a notorious womanizer, sowing his wild oats and leaving a trail of children in his wake. If Charles hadn't found Pietro and his sister when they were young, they might never have known Eric was their biological father.

Eric sighed inwardly.

If he really dug into it, he could probably find dozens of illegitimate children scattered across the globe.

However, none of them had inherited the Mutant X-Gene. Eric didn't want to disrupt their peaceful lives, so he let them live as ordinary people in the outside world.

On a whim, he would sometimes secretly visit them, occasionally leaving a gold brick or two to improve their lives.

Logan, Victor, Alex, and the others watched the spectacle from the side, also preparing the ingredients.

Eric's eyelid twitched, wanting to change the subject. "Let's not dwell on old grievances," he said. "Where's Charles? Haven't seen him in years."

"Charles has been studying at Kamar-Taj for three years now."

"What made him decide to go to Kamar-Taj?"

"Probably wanted to continue his studies."

***

In truth, Charles's decision to seek further studies abroad was driven to the brink by a group of unruly brats.

For years, Charles had been teaching Mutants at the Neptune Academy on Skull Island. However, with the rapid advancement of technology, nearly every Mutant student was equipped with miniature mental interference devices. This rendered his *Telepathy* useless, leaving him unable to discern their thoughts.

During heated debates, when his arguments failed to convince the students, Charles lacked the power to suppress these superpowered brats.

This taught him a vital lesson: How can a teacher reason with mischievous students without the force to keep them in line?

With this painful realization, Charles resolved to pursue advanced studies at Kamar-Taj, determined to return and lead by example.

After three years of practice, Charles had gone bald, but he had also grown stronger!

As Earth's most powerful brain, possessing immense mental power, learning magic came naturally to him. He could grasp the essence of nearly every spell after a single viewing.

Now at Kamar-Taj, only Ancient One, the Supreme Sorcerer, could truly surpass him.

As Han Shaoqing and Eric discussed Charles, inside the ancient and fragrant hall, Ancient One slowly poured two cups of tea while Charles sat opposite him.

After sipping their tea, Ancient One asked, "Are you leaving?"

Charles nodded, set down his cup, and respectfully replied, "Yes, Teacher. Thank you for your care these past three years. It's time for me to return and look after my own students."

"Hmm. When you leave, keep an eye on Kaecilius. He has fallen!"

At the mention of Kaecilius, Ancient One sighed.

Like many students at Kamar-Taj, Kaecilius had come to study magic and possessed considerable talent.

Unfortunately, his heart was impure. Believing Ancient One was withholding knowledge and driven by jealousy of Charles, he recently murdered the library's administrator, stole some forbidden texts, and betrayed Kamar-Taj. He now desperately seeks to join the Dark Dimension.

This is an extremely foolish decision. The Dark Dimension is a treacherous realm he cannot possibly control. Ancient One refused to teach Kaecilius dark magic precisely because she feared he would sink too deep into its depths!

Yet Kaecilius failed to understand the depth of Ancient One's well-intentioned concern.

"I understand. If I find Kaecilius, I will cleanse Kamar-Taj of his presence," Charles said, nodding solemnly.

The Ancient One's meticulous teachings over thirteen years had transformed him completely, and he would never forget this debt of gratitude. Having witnessed the horrors of the Dark Dimension through his association with the Ancient One, Charles knew the terror of Dormammu. Even as a kind-hearted man, when he learned of Kaecilius's plan to summon Dormammu to devour Earth, a murderous intent arose within him.

It couldn't be denied that proximity to the virtuous makes one virtuous, and proximity to the wicked makes one wicked. After years of association with Han Shaoqing, Charles had changed. At least the old Charles would never have considered violence as a solution.

Mordo, a young Black man who had recently joined Kamar-Taj, watched from a distance as the Ancient One and Charles sat across from each other at a table.

Under his gaze, the two bald-headed men were strikingly conspicuous.

At that moment, Mordo was lost in thought.

*Could it be that baldness is the key to becoming a powerful sorcerer?*

He touched the short hair on his head and made up his mind. When he returned, he would shave it all off and see if it made him stronger.
