Chapter 13 - Features of Hell's Kitchen

Chen Ye walked towards the window, under the puzzled gazes of John Wick and Old Ma.

"Chen, this is the fifth floor. You're not thinking of jumping, are you?" Old Ma asked, shocked.

"The elevator is too slow. Jumping out the window is faster. I can't bear for them to damage my house, even a little bit," Chen Ye said, then leaped, jumping directly from the fifth-floor window.

As Chen Ye was about to reach the ground, he covered his feet with Chaos Magic. His feet faintly glowed red, serving to slow his descent, and he landed gently.

Chen Ye could have jumped directly; after all, he had a self-healing factor, and even jumping from the 20th floor wouldn't be a problem. However, he considered that jumping directly would make a huge noise, which would disturb the other residents, and that was not what he wanted.

"Motherfucker, there's Superman here," a sniper cursed, looking through an eight-power scope at the scene.

John Wick and Old Ma quickly looked down out the window, and saw Chen Ye land safely, without a scratch, and without even a sound.

The two looked at each other, their eyes filled with disbelief. Even as experienced killers, they had never seen such a sight before.

If Chen Ye down below knew, he'd just say they were a bunch of unsophisticated people. Chen Ye hadn't used his superpowers much before because he was afraid of trouble, but after interacting with Tony Stark, Chen Ye knew the superhero era was coming. In the future, those who could play in the high-end games would be the likes of Thor and Hulk, either mutants or relying on technology. Ordinary people could only be like Hawkeye, secretly stealing kills from behind. You see, in the later stages of the Marvel movies, Black Widow was practically useless, only able to offer some verbal jabs and sacrifice her own life.

Chen Ye, who had just landed gracefully, hadn't even had time to look for the assassins when five more gunmen appeared, aiming at Chen Ye and fiercely pulling the triggers.

A large number of bullets poured out, forming a rain of bullets.

Chen Ye's body instinctively wanted to dodge, but a glance showed that the restaurant entrance was right behind him.

"Damn it," Chen Ye cursed instinctively, then waved his right hand, and red light shot out from his five fingers towards the bullet rain.

The bullets hit by the red light instantly lost their momentum and fell to the ground.

Seeing this scene, the assassins were only stunned for a moment, then continued to fire. One of them, seeing that the bullets were ineffective, pulled out an RPG from somewhere.

Boom! A single RPG came flying.

Chen Ye saw this and waved his right hand, sending countless red threads towards the bullets. With a wave of his left hand, the RPG missile was enveloped in red light and soared into the sky.

In the brief moment Chen Ye used his Chaos Magic, a "bang" echoed as a Barrett bullet fired from afar rapidly sped towards Chen Ye.

In a flash, the Barrett bullet was about to hit Chen Ye's head.

"A true professional assassin, this coordination," Chen Ye said calmly, unfazed by the possibility of being shot in the head.

The next second, red light burst from Chen Ye's eyes, and the bullet quickly flew back in the opposite direction.

As the RPG exploded in the sky, the five gunmen and the sniper were killed by their own bullets, instantly collapsing to the ground. "Daddy, look, there are fireworks in the sky!" A father and daughter from Hell's Kitchen stood by the window, pointing at the sky.

With all five gunmen dead, the street fell silent instantly. The residents of the street were, however, drawn to the scene by the sounds of the fight.

If residents from other places saw such a shootout, they might be frightened. But this was Hell's Kitchen, and they grew up in this kind of environment every day.

Or rather, no one who lived in Hell's Kitchen was easy to bully. Just like now, they were watching with interest, not at all afraid of being accidentally injured by the killer's actions.

Killers in suits came from all directions to provide support. Just as they were about to attack Chen Ye, a group of them accidentally sprayed bullets onto a BMW car.

A tattooed, burly man standing by the window watching the excitement howled in anger, "That's my car I just stole, you bunch of suit-wearing idiots!"

The killer, after hearing him, turned around and shot a warning shot at the burly man, signaling him to shut up.

The bullet didn't hit the tattooed burly man, but it clearly angered him.

The tattooed, burly man shouted, "Damn bitches, you're provoking us in Hell's Kitchen."

Subsequently, the suit-wearing killers were horrified to discover that this tattooed, burly man was carrying an RPG on his shoulder and aiming it at them, completely disregarding the damage launching an RPG inside his house would cause.

The suit-wearing killers quickly fled; after all, their suits could block bullets, but they would be finished if hit by an RPG.

These assassins couldn't care less about Chen Ye, they immediately fled the scene of the RPG explosion. Even these well-trained killers were terrified after glancing at the explosion site. What kind of hellhole was this place, so terrifying.

Was it logical for a car thief to have an RPG? If they had that thing, why would they even bother stealing cars? Did the people of Hell's Kitchen need RPGs to steal cars?

Chen Ye saw this and laughed, glancing around.

"Well, I don't need to do anything now. You guys should've just provoked me, why provoke the residents of Hell's Kitchen? They aren't as reasonable as I am."

As if the RPG was a signal to start a war, many residents of Hell's Kitchen took out long and short firearms of various calibers from their homes. They swept down from the windows from above, as if they were free, and many assassins, even with bulletproof suits, couldn't protect their heads.

What's more, cars started firing from all directions, and the reinforcements sent by the Marquis were killed by the people of Hell's Kitchen before they even reached Chen Ye's street.

John Wick, who was upstairs, watched the assassins retreating in defeat under the attack of the people of Hell's Kitchen, and was stunned.

"Are the people of Hell's Kitchen all so simple and wild?" John Wick turned his head and asked Old Ma, who was calm beside him.

"What 'you're Hell's Kitchen'? That's our Hell's Kitchen. Our Hell's Kitchen has always been like this. Since you've come to Hell's Kitchen, you're naturally a part of Hell's Kitchen. What's wrong, you want to run off after we helped you?" Old Ma clearly understood Chen Ye's thoughts, knowing he wanted to keep his friend around. Old Ma thought it was good too; he could have a companion in the future. He'd lived here for several years and had developed some affection for Hell's Kitchen. He also knew what Chen Ye wanted to do, and he was looking forward to the changes Chen Ye would bring to Hell's Kitchen.

John Wick didn't say anything after hearing that, just smiled and watched everything happening downstairs. It seemed he found Hell's Kitchen to be quite suitable for him.
