Hell's Kitchen
Pietro stood at the apartment door, stretched lazily, and gazed at the overcast sky, sighing, "Another boring morning."
It had been a month since Chen Ye and Deadpool left Hell's Kitchen to explore other parallel universes.
Wanda was still around, but she was busy taking over Uncle Kingpin's empire, often too preoccupied to even return home.
Pietro remained, occasionally helping out at the shop and playing video games to pass the time.
Though he wanted to find something new to do, in this familiar yet strange city, he seemed to have grown accustomed to this idle life.
Meanwhile, Master Ye became a familiar sight in the Hell's Kitchen community school, escorting his daughter to class each day.
The Hell's Kitchen community college had completed its administrative procedures and successfully enrolled students, officially opening its doors.
Despite his unsuccessful stint as the school's dean, Master Ye remained optimistic, his simple, good-natured smile never wavering.
His daughter was also very popular at school, her intelligence and lively personality winning her the affection of her classmates.
Dr. Ethan served as a chemistry teacher at the school, deeply passionate about his work and finding joy in it every day.
Recently, he had invited a friend to teach at Hell's Kitchen School. This friend's name was Adrian Toomes, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.
Dr. Toomes had been searching for a sponsor to realize his dream of flying. Uncle Kingpin agreed to his request, on the condition that he teach at the school.
If Chen Ye were to see this engineering Ph.D. here, he would be utterly embarrassed. He had just dealt with the Vulture from a parallel universe, only to have the Vulture from his own universe show up as a teacher under his command.
After retiring, Uncle Kingpin became the principal of Hell's Kitchen School. His formidable reputation was known throughout the school. Students and parents alike showed him deep respect and dared not cause trouble on school grounds.
Uncle Kingpin enjoyed his days immensely. In the mornings, he would visit the school to check on the students and his son, Richard. In the afternoons, he would accompany his wife, Vanessa, on shopping trips.
"Good morning, Pietro! Good morning, Uncle John!" Little Parker's voice was cheerful and full of youthful energy as he descended the apartment stairs, greeting Pietro and John Wick, the building's security guard.
His smile was as bright as the morning sun, illuminating the entire hallway.
Little Parker reached the dining room door and pulled dog food from his backpack, ready to feed Dogpool.
However, no matter how much he called or coaxed, Dogpool remained sprawled on the floor, completely unresponsive, as if utterly uninterested in the food before him.
"Peter, stop fooling around. Go to class now," Aunt May said, her face stern as she emerged from the dining room and scolded Little Parker.
Aunt May now worked as a waitress and cashier at the Lucky Come restaurant. Despite her busy schedule, she never neglected to care about Peter's studies and well-being.
John Wick, sitting nearby, watched the scene unfold. He weakly told Little Parker, "Dogpool doesn't eat dog food. Like us, he only eats human food."
His voice was steady and reassuring, carrying a sense of calm.
Little Parker glanced at Dogpool, then at the dog food in his hand, and grumbled resentfully, "He's a dog, yet he insists on eating the same things as humans."
His words were filled with helplessness and confusion. He shook his head and turned to leave.
Dogpool, who hadn't wanted to bother with the brat, immediately stood up angrily at Little Parker's words, reaching for his gun to teach the boy a lesson.
Pietro, seeing this, quickly stepped forward to calm Dogpool. "He's just a kid. Don't get angry, don't get angry."
Under Pietro's soothing words, Dogpool gradually calmed down. He glared at Little Parker, then sat back down and resumed his position, resting his head on his paws.
Pietro watched Little Parker's retreating figure and sighed softly, thinking, *This kid is really too mischievous.*
"John," Pietro complained to John Wick, "you've been getting lazier lately. You don't seem interested in anything. You just sit here every morning and stay put all day. Doesn't that bore you?"
The old John Wick, though outwardly cold, at least used to have some passion for life.
He used to participate in various activities, showcasing his unique charm and abilities.
But now, he seemed uninterested in everything, sitting silently by the door of his apartment like a statue each day.
John's black suit was gone, replaced by the white fur coat he wore daily.
His transformation was so drastic that it made people wonder if this was still the same John Wick they knew.
Pietro watched John, his heart filled with helplessness. With few people at home, he longed to go out with John and enjoy life's simple pleasures.
But John always refused with various excuses, leaving Pietro deeply disappointed.
When Pietro suggested playing video games together, John declined again. A hint of determination in his eyes suggested he had already retreated into his own world.
Since merging with the template of Uncle Wolf Stark, the First Blade of the Death God, John Wick's personality had grown increasingly similar to his.
However, John himself seemed indifferent to these changes. He seemed to relish his retirement, sitting by the apartment door each day with his thermos, acting as a security guard and watching people come and go, enjoying this quiet and comfortable life.
"This is the retirement I've always dreamed of. So peaceful." John rested his chin on his hand, his eyes gleaming with contentment.
He seemed to have found his ideal lifestyle, free from the disturbances of the outside world, savoring his own tranquility and satisfaction.
Yet, there were always those who sought to shatter that peace.
A burly man in a black suit slowly approached the dining area, his stern expression and imposing presence radiating an overwhelming sense of pressure.
He stopped beside John and Pietro and asked in a deep voice, "Is Mr. Chen Ye at home?"
Pietro turned to face the man, whom he recognized as Crossbones. He'd seen him two or three times this month already.
"Chen Ye hasn't returned yet. It's not that he doesn't want to see you. Didn't I tell you to talk to my sister if you need anything? She can make the decisions," Pietro said impatiently.
Crossbones' expression shifted slightly at this response, a flicker of displeasure crossing his eyes.
He had been sent by Director Pierce to recruit Chen Ye, but after two or three visits, he was always told that Chen Ye wasn't at home, which was starting to irritate him.
He asked coldly, "Then can you tell me where he actually is? It's been nearly a month."
Pietro shrugged, helplessly lying, "I really don't know where he is. He sometimes goes on trips for weeks at a time and I can't reach him."
Pietro knew where Chen Ye was, but he couldn't possibly tell anyone that Chen Ye was currently saving another parallel universe.
If he hadn't witnessed parallel universes himself, Pietro wouldn't have believed his own words.
Crossbones remained silent for a moment, seemingly contemplating his next move.
He knew how important Chen Ye was and how much Director Pierce expected him to succeed.
He couldn't give up like this; he had to find a way to locate Chen Ye.
Just then, the restaurant door suddenly opened, and a figure emerged.
It was Chen Ye himself.
Seeing Crossbones, he smiled slightly and asked, "Are you looking for me?"
