Hell's Kitchen, Good Fortune Restaurant
Chen Ye sat in a corner of the restaurant, quietly awaiting his friends.
Today, he had specifically invited Kingpin, Tony Stark, and others for dinner. More importantly, he planned to introduce them to two new members: Doctor Octopus and Sandman.
The restaurant's soft, warm lighting reflected the anticipation on Chen Ye's face.
Business at the restaurant had been booming lately, and the kitchen staff had grown significantly. As a result, Chen Ye no longer needed to cook himself.
Tonight, he could relax and wait for his friends to arrive.
Just then, familiar footsteps sounded at the door. Chen Ye looked up to see Wanda enter.
Her attire caught his eye: a chic, professional business suit paired with gold-rimmed glasses, exuding an aura of effortless elegance, like a formidable female CEO descending upon the scene.
However, to Chen Ye's surprise, Wanda was accompanied by a young girl.
The girl appeared to be around fourteen years old, dressed plainly, and clutching Wanda's clothes nervously, clearly intimidated by the unfamiliar surroundings.
Chen Ye looked at the little girl curiously and couldn't help but ask Wanda, "Who is this young lady?"
Wanda gently patted Jessica's head, a soft look flashing in her eyes as she explained to Chen Ye, "Her name is Jessica Jones. Her whole family died in a car accident, and then she was adopted by a pervert."
"This little one seems to have superpowers too. Not long ago, a guy covered in purple was controlling her to cause trouble at Fisk Tower. I just happened to beat him up and send him running."
"She's quite pitiful—her family is dead, and she was being controlled by someone. I felt soft-hearted and decided to adopt her, with you, Chen Ye, as her guardian. I don't think I'm old enough."
Perhaps because Wanda herself had lost both her parents, she saw her own past in the little girl. If she hadn't met Chen Ye, she might have ended up like Jessica, controlled by someone and forced to do evil.
So Wanda decided to take Jessica in.
After hearing Wanda's explanation, Chen Ye looked at Jessica Jones in surprise. Another superhero from Hell's Kitchen. That purple-covered guy must have been Purple Man.
Chen Ye suddenly felt like his place was a dumping ground, with everyone being dumped on him.
He stood up and walked over to Jessica, extending his hand with a smile. "Hello, Jessica. I'm Chen Ye. Welcome."
His voice was warm and firm, as if it could dispel all fear and unease.
Jessica looked up, cautiously glancing at Chen Ye.
Though still somewhat afraid, Chen Ye's smile and voice offered her a sliver of warmth and comfort.
After a moment's hesitation, she gently took his hand.
Chen Ye turned to Wanda. "So, did you take down the Purple Man? The one with the all-purple skin?"
Wanda listened, struggling to recall the earlier fight.
She frowned in thought for a moment before replying, "I wasn't paying attention at the time. I just knocked him down and went to check on this little one. But even if he's not dead, his arm should be broken."
Her tone betrayed her disdain for the Purple Man.
Chen Ye heard that the Purple Man wasn't dead, but he didn't seem too concerned.
After all, while the Purple Man possessed some troublesome abilities, his actual strength wasn't particularly formidable. His body had been altered by chemical hormones that, once absorbed through the skin, allowed him to control people with his words.
However, those with strong willpower could resist his control. Kingpin, for example, had once broken free. Despite this, Chen Ye still planned to find an opportunity to eliminate the Purple Man completely.
He believed that cutting the roots was the only way to truly eradicate the threat he posed.
"Then let's have this little guy stay here and go to school with Peter and the others," Chen Ye suddenly said. A mischievous glint flashed in his eyes. "Kids should play with other kids." His words surprised Jessica and Wanda.
After all, Jessica and Peter were already high school classmates in the original movie story. Chen Ye had simply moved up the timeline, and who knew? Maybe sparks would fly.
*As Jessica's guardian, Chen Ye would never allow her to marry a black man!*
As Chen Ye and Wanda were chatting, Tony and the Kingpin family arrived.
Seeing the heartwarming scene of Chen Ye and Wanda playing with Jessica, Tony couldn't resist teasing, "Well, well, you've already got a kid after being out for just a month?"
His remark drew laughter from the surrounding crowd.
Kingpin and Vanessa watched Chen Ye with proud smiles.
Wanda blushed at the teasing and quickly stood up, hurrying to Vanessa's side to act cute. "I do not! This is my newly adopted little girl. She's had a rough time."
She then told the Kingpin couple about Jessica's background.
Richard, seeing someone his own age for the first time, immediately walked over to chat with Jessica. The two children quickly became good friends, playing games and sharing stories together.
Tony stepped forward. "What's this? You've got time for a dinner date? You know I'm not really into Chinese food. I'd rather have a cheeseburger."
Tony hadn't expected Chen Ye to invite him to a gathering. He'd been swamped lately, upgrading his armor and dealing with Stark Industries' affairs.
Chen Ye hurriedly pulled Doctor Octopus over to introduce him to Tony. "This is Dr. Otto, he comes from a parallel universe completely different from ours. He's also a leading figure in physics, with many astonishing research achievements."
He curiously observed Dr. Otto, noticing the same burning desire for knowledge and curiosity about the unknown world in his eyes.
"Dr. Otto, this is Tony Stark, one of the smartest people in our world. I'm sure you'll find plenty of common ground," Chen Ye added.
Tony felt a surge of pride at Chen Ye's praise, but quickly suppressed it, adopting a more professional demeanor.
He extended his hand to Dr. Otto, smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor. I believe we can find new inspiration and breakthroughs in each other's research."
Dr. Otto enthusiastically shook Tony's hand, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
The two began to converse, their discussion expanding from their individual research findings to a broader exploration of the entire field of physics.
Chen Ye watched them chat animatedly, feeling deeply gratified.
Just then, he noticed Kingpin approaching. Kingpin sat down next to him, smiled, and said, "Kid, it seems your journey's been quite smooth. Hell's Kitchen is doing well these days."
Chen Ye smiled back. "That's because you're holding down the fort, Kingpin. I heard you even became the principal. Looks like you're living the good life in retirement."
Kingpin burst into laughter, patting Chen Ye's shoulder. "You should pay the school a visit sometime, kid. They're dying to meet the founder."
Chen Ye nodded, then mysteriously produced a Devil Fruit from somewhere. He handed it to Kingpin. "Uncle Kingpin, this is for you."
Kingpin stared at the fruit with its peculiar patterns. "What is this?"
Chen Ye smiled enigmatically. "It's called a Devil Fruit. Eat one, and you gain superpowers. This one is the Shining Fruit. After eating it, your body becomes as hard as diamond."
Kingpin's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the Devil Fruit in Chen Ye's hand.
