Chapter 11 - 11: Crossing Boundaries

Crossing Boundaries

Kai woke later than usual, sunlight cutting through the blinds and illuminating his cluttered room. He felt… different. Heavy. Tangled. And uncomfortably aware of Lucien's presence lingering in his mind like a phantom.

His phone buzzed.

Unknown: Breakfast. My place. Now.

Kai groaned. "I'm going to be dead by the end of this week."

Leo leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "You're insane. Again."

"I'm aware."

By the time Kai arrived at Lucien's penthouse, he felt the pull in his chest tighten with every step. Lucien opened the door before he could knock, as always.

"Good morning," Lucien said, voice soft, yet sharp as a blade.

Kai tried to meet his gaze. Failed. Lucien's eyes glimmered with the same possessive intensity that had haunted him for nights.

"Sit," Lucien commanded.

Kai obeyed, feeling like he had no choice.

Lucien poured coffee and set a plate of eggs and toast before him. He studied Kai with a gaze that burned through him.

"You're restless," Lucien observed.

"I'm not—" Kai started.

"You are," Lucien interrupted. "I can see it. Hear it. Feel it. Your heart races for reasons you don't understand yet."

Kai swallowed. "I'm not—"

Lucien leaned closer, voice dropping. "I'll teach you. I'll guide you. You belong with me, Kai."

Kai's chest tightened. "You're insane."

Lucien smiled faintly. "Perhaps. But I've never wanted anyone like this."

He reached across the table, brushing Kai's fingers with his own. Electric, intentional, possessive.

Kai's pulse surged. He wanted to pull away. He wanted to scream. He wanted to run.

Instead, he froze.

Lucien leaned closer, whispering: "If anyone touches you, I'll burn the world for you."

Kai's breath caught. "Stop saying things like that."

Lucien's eyes softened, yet glimmered with hunger. "I'm serious. You will never be alone. Not as long as I exist."

Kai's hands trembled. Something deep within him stirred—fear, desire, confusion.

Lucien leaned back, watching him like a predator savoring the moment.

"You can leave," Lucien said softly. "But I doubt you will."

Kai stood, fists clenched. "I… I need to go."

Lucien's smile didn't falter. "I know. But I will see you again. Soon."

Kai left, heart pounding, mind reeling, unaware that with every encounter, Lucien's obsession grew, feeding on his fear, his desire, and the impossibly dangerous bond forming between them.

Kai was crossing boundaries he didn't even know existed.

And Lucien was waiting to claim every one of them.
