After meeting the doctor, Louis was only able to start going back to his dorm at around 17:50; it seems the closest thing to a banking system he had access to is storing money with the administration; he kept trying to sort matters out with the administration officer. The same one that couldn't speak; if you try and talk with him, he just shows words on the window that he couldn't quite read. The only time things finally started going smoothly was when he went to find Teacher Fuyuko and asked for help.
"What a crazy day…"
[But even so… I really feel it again… I am really blessed…]
He is really thankful that the Louis he was before remembering his other life was a good person and made so many friends.
[I don't think I've even met someone who was really rude to me yet! If I can't call this being blessed I don't know what is… Back then…]

Dinosaur chicken…!?!?
Louis dashes away again in the direction of his dorm, without looking back!
"HEY, COME HERE! I AM TALKING WITH YOU… Damn it…"
[The day was too damn long already. I know that Fuyuko said it was the dorm administrator, but I don't have enough energy to deal with that.]
For the first time since arriving in this world, Louis was able to have a proper rest; he also felt it was pretty nice to just point at the lights and snap to turn them on or off.
*Snap* *Snap* *Snap*
[Way cooler than those that worked with clapping! Not that I had them at home anyways…]
The very next day…
"Good morning, kids! Today just some light practice and getting ready for the mission!" Fuyuko cheerfully starts the class.
"Let's just get on with it already…" Laura seems grumpy as usual.
"Hey, Louis, you seem a bit tired already. You good?" Jeanne asks after taking a brief look at Louis.
"Haha, yeah… Just had a bit of a run before coming by." Louis says while sweating.
Today too the place seems pretty empty, except for Zohan and his team training at the opposite side of the gym.
After a bit of training and sparring, Louis and his team gather next to the ring. After clapping twice, Fuyuko starts speaking.
"Great work there, everyone! Now, just like I taught you! Introduce yourselves as if gathering with another team."
"Captain Jeanne Hood, innate technique melee specialist; main technique: mystical beast polymorph."
"Laura Yamashita, sorcery ranged specialist; main technique: spell break."
"Louis Coval, aura melee specialist; main technique:… uh?"
"You can just say aura enhancement for now; you will need to focus on one soon though; just that makes you look like an amateur."
"Understood! So, Louis Coval, aura melee specialist; main technique: aura enhancement."
"Pretty good! Just in case someone asks, aura enhancement increases your durability and multiplies the force you output when doing basically anything, as long as you sync your soul and body properly!"
"Understood!"
"Great, now, everyone, I'll explain your tasks for your mission in detail! First, I'll drive you guys in a van so we get to the highway between White Waterfall and the capital: STPL-270!"
"Once we get there, we will make camp close to the incident area. There were sightings of mana beasts close to the road, so we will go over there and kill them before they mess with some civilian going on their way! "I see your hand up, Louis. Have a question?"
"I remember hearing about aura beasts as well. Are there going to be any? And what's the difference?"
"Good question! It's likely that we won't meet any there. The main difference between them is that mana beasts are just normal animals that have mana inside, so they can be more dangerous and ferocious, while aura beasts are more spectral in nature and can only be seen by people with proper para-vision! Like you are right now!"
"Otherwise, you would need glasses like these; they are just a bit more troublesome to deal with." Laura comments while pointing at her glasses.
"I see! When do we leave?"
"Like, let me check…" Fuyuku casts her clock spell; it shows 11:40, "At 15:00 today."
"I- I thought the mission was tomorrow…?"
"Yeah, so we have to be there today and make our camp and recon."
"Uh, guys…? I think we might need to rush a bit after all." Jeanne comments.
"Jeanne, I would be ok with Louis forgetting at this point, but you have no excuse!" Laura says while pointing to her backpack.
"Uh, let's go…?"
"Go do your thing! Remember food, dimensional bags for the animal materials, whatever else you need for your techniques, chop chop!"
After a few moments of rushing through the building to get the final few supplies, the team goes to the school entrance and waits for Fuyuko.
[First time I ever looked outside the campus, there were some places that I see are very green, but the more I look, the more I feel something is off…]
[There are some places that seem to be made directly with bricks, but they look very different from back home… Maybe I am just far away?]
Looking from the gates, Louis sees some sort of blocky car coming by; it seems a bit smaller than what he was used to and… maybe a bit cuter? Oh well.
Beep beep! Fuyuko honks the horns. "Come in, guys, let's go!"
Laura, Jeanne, and Louis climb up in order, each carrying two bags containing both their personal items and some items to be shared with the team. After loading the back seats of the van (which has 3 pairs), Laura asks, "Who is going in the front seat?"
"Can I go this time? I want to see the way we go if it's ok." Louis asks.
Jeanne and Laura look at each other for a moment, and then Jeanne says, "Fine by me. What do you say, Laura?"
"I don't mind."
"Let's do that then," Jeanne concludes, and both of them go to the middle seat.
When Louis climbs to the front seat, Fuyuko pokes Louis' shoulder and says, "Hmm? So the only boy wants to sit with the teacher? Well chosen! If you sat at the back, one of those girls would certainly eat you while I am distracted by the road!"
"Haha." Louis gives an awkward laugh.
"Who would want to eat that guy! What are you saying!" Laura complains from the back.
"Haha, who knows? You talk like that, but maybe you would." Jeanne speaks with a teasing tone.
"No way, and what would you know?"
"Hey, no ruckus in the back; I am turning on the car!"
Fuyuko puts the key in the ignition and presses a button on the side, and the lights of the car turn on.
[The car is very quiet; I also see no gearshift… automatic?]
Just by looking at the car for a bit, he already feels like opening it and seeing what is inside would be lots of fun. Even if he manages to become a sorcerer, he can have a car-fixing hobby at least, right?
"Hey, everyone, don't forget the seatbelts!"
"PFT, as if we would die in a car crash; the only way a sorcerer would die from that would be if we fell off a cliff!" Jeanne says while putting on the seatbelt.
"Even so, it's important to do things properly! Rules are there for a reason!"
[Huh? Even so, from what I've seen up until now, I don't think anyone here would survive a serious car crash from back in my world? Maybe I am missing something?]
"Ok, everyone, time to head off!" Fuyuko steps on the accelerator, and the car starts moving.
Moving…
Like at about 10 m/h or something…? Pretty slow…
"Uh…"
"What?"
"How long until we get there?"
"About 1 hour and 50 minutes or so, I think."
"How far is the way there?"
"About 10 milpaces"
"Huh."
[Maybe I shouldn't have asked... No! Actually, if I pay attention to the road, I will start to have a feeling about how long that is in comparison to what I am used to… Yes, I'll just pay attention to the road]
More and more as Fuyuko slowly drives on the road and Laura and Jeanne chat in the back, Louis feels more and more confused by what he sees on the road.
[Some shacks… Lots of those brick buildings… Lots of trees… and these buildings… I remember someone told me my home was like 2 hours away or something? Nothing around here seems to tell me I am anywhere close to New York…?]
