Chapter 2 - Too Comfortable

Morning came quietly.

No awkwardness. No guilt.

Hyun-woo was still asleep when I woke up, one arm stretched where I'd been a few hours ago. I stared at the ceiling for a moment, then carefully moved away.

He didn't wake up.

Of course he didn't.

I got ready without making noise. By the time I picked up my bag, he was sitting up, rubbing his eyes.

"You're leaving already?" he asked.

"I have class."

"So early?" He checked the time. "It's barely nine."

I paused. "You knew my schedule."

"Yeah," he said. "Just asking."

That again.

I slipped on my shoes. "I'll be late today."

"With him?" he asked, like it was casual.

I looked at him. "Why do you keep asking that?"

He shrugged. "You didn't deny it."

"That's not an answer."

He stood up, walking past me to the kitchen. "Just be careful."

I laughed under my breath. "Careful of what?"

He didn't reply.

On campus, I tried not to think about him. I really did. But my phone buzzed twice before lunch.

Hyun-woo: Did you reach?

Hyun-woo: Eat properly.

I stared at the screen.

I didn't reply.

When I got home that evening, he was already there, sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone like nothing was wrong.

"You ignored me," he said.

"I was busy."

"With him?"

I dropped my bag. "Why are you like this?"

"Like what?"

"Like I owe you explanations."

He looked at me then. Really looked at me. "Do you?"

The room felt smaller.

"No," I said. "I don't."

He didn't argue. That was new.

Instead, he stood up and walked past me, close enough that our shoulders brushed again. I felt the same familiar jolt.

"Good," he said. "Then stop acting like you're leaving."

I turned around. "I'm not going anywhere."

He smiled, faint and unreadable. "That's what you always say."

That night, we sat on opposite sides of the bed.

It felt worse than sharing it.
