After bringing Stone back, Icarus quickly arranged a new place for him to stay.
He bought a small house right next to his own. It was slightly smaller than Airi's, so it only cost around 30,000.
Since he had already decided to support Stone in becoming a trainer, there were some expenses he couldn't avoid. In fact, spending this money made him feel more at ease.
Icarus also helped him purchase basic furniture and some proper clothes for going out.
That very night, Stone moved into his new home. The two brothers stayed up late, talking for a long time.
"Alright, get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, I'll take you to buy a Pokémon," Icarus said as he prepared to leave.
"Okay, Brother Icarus."
Standing at the door, Stone waved him off. Though he didn't say it out loud, a firm thought settled in his heart:
From now on, my life belongs to Brother Icarus.
He might not be good with words, but he understood gratitude. Including this time, Icarus had saved him twice.
He had nothing else to offer—so he would repay him with everything he had.
---
Early the next morning, Airi arrived as usual to deliver breakfast.
After knocking, she was surprised to see a rough-looking "uncle" open the door.
"Hey! Who are you? Where's Brother Icarus?"
She asked suspiciously, already gathering water energy in her hands.
"You're Airi, right? My name is Stone. I'm Brother Icarus's brother. He told me about you last night."
Seeing the girl with light blue hair, Stone immediately recognized her from Icarus's description.
"Huh? Brother Icarus has a brother? And… aren't you like 30 years old? Why are you calling him 'brother'?"
Her suspicion only grew.
This must be a thief! If I catch him, Brother Icarus will definitely praise me!
Water spheres formed in her hands. Just as she was about to attack—
"Airi, stop. He's with me. Come in—I was just about to introduce you two."
Icarus's voice came from inside.
"O-oh… sorry, uncle."
Airi quickly dispersed the water.
"…It's fine. And I'm not an uncle. I'm 15 this year— younger than Brother Icarus."
Stone gave an awkward smile.
"WHAT?! You're 15?!"
Airi stared at him in disbelief as she walked in, repeatedly looking him up and down.
---
"Alright, sit down and eat first," Icarus said, bringing out a large pot of insect meat porridge.
"Airi."
"Okay."
The two sat down obediently.
Seeing this, Icarus nodded in satisfaction. These would be his long-term teammates—it was time to properly introduce them.
"Airi, this is my childhood brother, Stone. He's 15, just a bit older than you. From now on, call him Brother Stone."
"Hello, Airi," Stone greeted.
"Ah—yes! Hello, Brother Stone!"
Airi nodded quickly.
"Stone, this is Airi, my younger sister—and a beginner-level trainer."
"You already saw it just now… she's a natural Water-type ability user. Because of special reasons, only the three of us can know about this."
Stone's expression immediately turned serious.
"Airi, don't worry. Even if I'm beaten to death, I won't reveal it."
"Ah—no, it's not that serious…"
But Airi's tense expression clearly eased.
Icarus didn't stop him. For someone like Stone, making such a vow meant he would absolutely keep it.
And for Airi, this reassurance mattered.
---
After that, they began eating breakfast.
Then, Icarus brought up the main point.
"Airi, the reason I introduced you two is because I want you to team up with Stone and help train him."
"I'll take him to get his first Pokémon today. After a few days of training, he can start going out with you."
"Huh?! Me? Can I really do that?"
Airi froze, doubting herself.
"Airi, don't forget—you're already a real trainer."
"You can do it. Just teach him the same way I taught you."
Without giving her time to overthink, Icarus continued:
"Of course, not immediately. I'll train him first, just like I did with you. Once he's ready, the two of you can hunt together."
"Stone prefers Rock-type Pokémon, so we've decided to get him a Geodude. It'll serve as a frontline tank."
"With the two of you working together, I'll feel more at ease about your safety. You'll also grow faster and reach the Normal level sooner."
"After that, the three of us can take on missions together."
---
After hearing everything, Airi fell silent for a moment.
Then she smiled.
"Okay, Brother Icarus. We'll catch up to you."
"Brother Stone, we'll be teammates from now on."
"Mm. Please take care of me," Stone replied, lifting his head with a simple, honest smile.
Under the morning light, a new team had quietly formed.
