Chapter 9 - Hughie, Frenchie, and Butcher

Roger sent the message to Victoria and no longer cared about her.

She knew what was in her best interest—if she didn't follow his orders, he would kill her!

Roger had nearly entered a state of madness. He had spent over a year planning future strategies and what he would change in this world, and suddenly the system appears and informs him that he's leaving this world.

Roger would begin plundering various superpowers.

The first thing that came to mind was the father of the main character—the cowardly father who always urged Hughie to stay silent, run away, and avoid confrontation.

When Roger recalled the series, Hughie's mother had accidentally injected him with Compound V, granting him the ability to pass through things—or more precisely, intangibility.

It resembled Obito's ability from the Naruto anime or Kitty Pryde's, but in a terrifying way.

Just imagine extending my intangible hand into anyone's chest and ripping out their heart in a horrifying way—and they couldn't resist!

Roger left the room and headed toward the characters who were discussing the price—whether to agree to give Roger ownership of the land or not.

Roger couldn't help but curse the system. If he had known, he wouldn't have asked for a useless piece of land.

"Everyone, I've thought it over and realized I love money more—after all, who among us doesn't want more money? So I've decided to sell the weapons and equipment for cash."

As soon as Roger finished speaking, they looked at him, not knowing what to say! Had all this discussion been for nothing?

A general looked at Roger and gave him a big smile. "Mr. Roger has a forward-thinking perspective. The world runs on money—there's no problem that money can't solve."

"Yes, Mr. Roger, since you've agreed, I'm ready to be the first buyer of this batch of weapons and equipment."

They agreed quickly before Roger changed his mind and went back to demanding the land.

About half an hour passed as the deals were arranged, each transaction conducted in complete secrecy. Although the politicians sat together and laughed together, everyone wanted to keep the quantity and quality of the weapons they purchased secret from their competitors.

As soon as the deals concluded, the military and political figures left.

Roger looked at the hall that had been full but was now empty, and he fell into thought.

"Jarvis, show me the events of the past week in Hughie's life, whom I asked you to monitor."

"Yes, sir."

The main screen in the hall began to change, showing scenes of Hughie and his girlfriend until it ended with a scene of him attending a funeral!

"Jarvis, is this the funeral of his girlfriend who was killed by A-Train?"

"Yes, sir. This happened two days ago. You were busy this week, which caused you to neglect the news—headlines were dominated by him killing a girl who was crossing the street."

Roger looked at Hughie's image on the screen and began to realize that the timeline for the first episode of season one had started two days ago without him knowing.

"Jarvis, show me Butcher's location."

"Yes, sir." A location appeared—a place you could call a garage or a suspicious place like a weapons warehouse.

"Sir, Hughie is close to Butcher in the same location."

It seemed they had detained Translucent, the Invisible Man.

"Jarvis, hack their computer devices—whether phones or televisions." After a few minutes, he hacked the computer showing the surveillance cameras and hacked the phones of Hughie, Butcher, and Frenchie.

All the screens turned to a black image with sound waves.

"Woof woof woof woof woof!!"

"Hello, how's Translucent doing? Were you able to penetrate his diamond-like skin?"

As soon as the voice sounded, Butcher and Frenchie turned, each grabbing their weapons and pointing them at random places, but they didn't find anyone.

"My friends, I'm right here! Where are you looking?!"

Everyone looked at the television hanging on the wall and exchanged glances.

Hughie looked at the television, his back drenched in sweat. "We're finished! He knows us—we're finished! Vought is coming!!"

Butcher looked at the television, and after a moment, "Who are you? I doubt you're from Vought—otherwise, we wouldn't be seeing you; we'd be seeing Homelander."

"Correct, Butcher. You're smart and quick-witted. Actually, I'm surprised that in this world, there's a group of ordinary humans who dare to challenge those with superpowers. I want to congratulate you."

Butcher wasn't interested. "What do you want exactly? Stop playing games."

"Well, actually, I want to fund you—the Boys. What do you think?"

Hughie, Frenchie, and Butcher looked at each other, confused. "What do you mean by funding?"

"I mean I'll finance you—whether with weapons, equipment, or even covering your existence. I'll give you licensed passports and advanced equipment to fight Vought. What do you think?"

Butcher felt excitement but suppressed it. "What benefit will you get from doing all this?"

"The benefit is that every superhero you encounter and kill, I want a specific amount of their blood. You'll put it in special vials that I'll send you."

Hughie, Butcher, and Frenchie grew even more confused!

Frenchie looked at the screen. "Man, from what I gather, you're a scientist who wants to study superheroes. Is my guess correct?"

Roger rose from his special chair and began clapping vigorously as he said, "Correct! Well done, Frenchie. You could say I'm a scientist interested in superheroes, and I want to study them."

"Actually, there's a secret I have to tell you since we'll be working together. Did you know that superheroes are made from a specific drug and that their powers aren't innate?!"
