"Hunter's Quest? What the hell is this…"
I was puzzled by the rectangular shape of the foreign object with the word "Hunter's Quest" written on its surface. Including the sound and noise that wafts their way to my ear, it's so catchy… and luring.
At this moment, I was not aware that I had been lured into the trap out of my knowing.
Out of my curiosity, I examined the rectangular object carefully. It looks like some sort of technology. Which is named a "monitor" after learning about them.
Seeing the small object that had connected to it, I tried to pick it up, and noticed something moving inside the rectangular screen.
(!!!, Did something just move inside it?!)
Out of surprise, I brought the knife out as I kept my distance from it.
…
2 minutes passed, nothing happened. My thought was that something might come out and bring harm to himself, but nothing has happened so far.
A curiosity arose within me once again, with my guard up, I examined the small connected object, which is called "mouse".
…
(So whatever is inside that weird thing moves whenever I drag it anywhere across the table's surface. Then this?)
On top of the mouse, I somehow accidentally pressed the "Play" button on the screen. This led to the screen immediately changing its appearance to black.
(I-Is it attacking?!)
I rose back and kept my distance, the screen was only black, but for a moment, then a text appeared from the black surface.
"Please put your name."
(The thing's getting weirder and weirder here.)
5 minutes have passed, the same as before, nothing has happened.
The thought came to my mind," Is Death trying to play with me and strike me down the moment I least expected it?!" That might seem the case, but the curiosity keeps pulling me toward that monitor.
"Put my name… But nothing reacted when I touched the screen…"
My eye looked down, and it appears to be another object connected to the monitor, which is called a "keyboard".
A sort of blackboard with a letter on it.
"I noticed some of the letters from the library, but I didn't know the rest of them!"
(What's this symbol above the number here?! And what the hell is this "Esc, Alt, Ctrl" letter?! Don't tell me another language?! God, I've taken a really long time to learn the one from the library! And now I need to learn another?!)
Stirred with anxious and puzzled feelings, I somehow pressed one of the letters on the keyboard.
"q"
(Crap, I pressed that one by accident! How then do I erase this?! Umm, this one?)
I pressed one of the button I don't know about.
"q\"
(It became worse!)
…
After a long and hard journey, I gave up and wrote my name eventually.
"q/u[ik`ten"
"What have I done…"
I slam my face on the table.
Come to think of it, this is the first time I felt defeated from not being killed.
"q/u[ik`ten… How the hell do you pronounce that?! Come on… There must be a button to fix this-"
I was foreign to this whole thing. One could not blame themself for not knowing.
The same as me for pressed the "Enter" button, not knowing it just confirms my name.
"Name confirmed… q/u[ik`ten, welcome to Hunter's Quest, we hope you'll enjoy playing this game :)"
(DAMN IIIIIT!!!)
I slammed my face on the table again.
"I messed up the name first thing of all… Anyway, why the hell am I going along with this thing has to say?!"
It's weird when I think back in the future, I'm here to hunt down the Silver Hunter, which completely crossed my mind.
"Hello everyone, my name is q/u[ik`ten."
(Now the whole thing's kinda awkward, I'd be fine if it's just "ten")
"I'm nothing but an ordinary hunter."
"I live inside the forest along with my dear wife and daughter."
"I make a living by selling meat and pelt from the wild animals and creatures I hunt to the nearby town not far from here."
"I actually was born in the Empire, but as time passes, I figured the life in there wasn't for me. So I have decided to live in this forest, near the foot of the mountain."
"My wife, Lisa. I've met her at the pub in the town. We both fell in love at first sight. Then, that love came to fruition when my daughter was born in this world. Lara"
"A peaceful everyday life, I like it. To be granted my wife and kids, I've been blessed."
"I wish my life would go on peacefully like this, for the rest of my life."
"Then suddenly, a string of fate would turn the curve for me."
…
The Hunter, a backpacking load of goods that is considered to be from the pack of animals he hunted, pelt, meat, and bones. Like any other day, he went to the town and sold them to the appraiser. After getting the money, he went back to the home, hoping to receive his family's welcoming love.
As he reached the house, he saw a group of four people, 3 man and 1 girl, standing in front of the house as they were having a conversation with the wife.
The Hunter, confused, went to greet the said people.
"Who are you, people?"
"Ah, dear. These people are said to be from the Hero's party. Apparently, they'd like to meet you."
"Meet me?"
Suddenly, the man from the group approaches the Hunter as they're giving him a 90-degree bow. The Hunter felt confused, asking why'd he do that.
"W-What are you doing, kid-"
"Please! Please join our party!"
According to the divine prophecy of the Holy Maiden, the Demon Lord is said to be the one to destroy the whole world. And only the worthy hero was said to be able to stop him.
The man in front of the Hunter was said to be the hero sent by the empire in order to defeat the Demon Lord. The people behind him are the ones who'll support the Hero on his journey.
The Archer, The Tank, and The Mage.
And I was the last one who would need to support him, according to the divine prophecy of the Holy Maiden.
The Hunter
"If you're willing to join us, I assure you that the Empire will send a huge sum of money in return." Is what the hero said.
The money is said to be the currency to trade items and such, but I have no idea what that is worth to me. Maybe I have no idea the concept of worth.
"It's an attempting offer, but I must refuse. As you can see, I'm living peacefully with my wife and daughter. I'm sorry for this, but you must ask other people."
The Hero, feeling down, spoke another word.
"I see, it's a shame, but there's no one but you. We'll be in a nearby town if you change your mind."
With that said, the Hero party left.
Not long after, the thought came to Hunter's mind.
(The Demon Lord who'll destroy the world? If that's true, this might put a danger to my wife and daughter.)
"..."
(I'll have to give the second thought about it.)
