Chapter 21 - The final stretch

~🌺Chapter 21🌺~

So, the final year rolled around, and wow, the pressure was intense. Deadlines were stacking up, projects were screaming for attention, and exams felt like they were breathing down on my neck. For i thought the stress wasn't just about grades anymore. My name was still hanging in the air, caught up in some investigation, and those nasty rumors just wouldn't quit.

But even with all that going on, I showed up. Every single lecture, every assignment submitted, every responsibility taken. While everyone else was just thinking about getting their degree, I was juggling two massive burdens: my education and reputation.

There were even some hushed offers, you know, suggesting i could make the whole messy situation disappear if just backed off. Hints about settling things quietly to avoid more trouble. But I insisted and said no. It wasn't about being stubborn or proud; I knew that giving in then would haunt me for years to come, long after university was a distant memory.

The pressure didn't let up. Someone even tried to push back my project defense,my important documents mysteriously vanished and my academic records suddenly came under scrutiny.

I just worked even harder, double-checked everything, kept copies of every single paper, and stayed laser-focused.

By the time project defense actually happened, the room was practically buzzing with tension. The examiners sat there, quiet, while a few other people watched with obvious interest. I stood before them, calm as could be. My research was solid and presentation was crystal clear.

When they started asking questions, i answered each one with a perfect blend of confidence and precision. By the end, the whole atmosphere in the room had shifted. My results, they just spoke for themselves.

Exams came next, and then it was weeks of relentless studying, silence, and sheer exhaustion.

I pretty much disappeared into my work until it was all finally done. Around the same time, the investigation finally wrapped up. They went through the records, traced access logs, and uncovered all the fake approvals and tampered documents.

Slowly but surely, the truth came out. I wasn't the one being accused anymore; was the one who had been targeted.

When the final results dropped, the campus practically exploded. Distinction.

Top scores.

Outstanding performance all around.

And then came graduation day. My name was called once for being the best in our department. Then again for Best Graduating Female Student. And finally, one last time – Best Overall Graduating Student of the University.

The hall went wild with applause. Iwalked onto the stage with that same calm composure I'd managed to hold onto through every single challenge, accepting each award. This time, there wasn't a single whisper attached to my name. Every sleepless night, every hurdle, every attempt to tarnish my name had all led to this moment. It wasn't luck, and it wasn't pity. It was pure, hard-earned success.

As she stepped off the stage, one thought echoed in her mind: They tried to bring her down, but instead, they just pushed her higher.
