Chapter 96 - Chapter 92: Return

Inside a meeting room at the Modification School's compound, the doors were tightly closed, and a tense atmosphere filled the air.

Lucy sat in a chair, looking at Losqi, who was standing.

Losqi didn't quite understand why Lucy had called him to this room, only to make him stand there without doing anything.

He estimated he had been in the room for five minutes, but Lucy still hadn't spoken.

His originally relaxed palms curled up; he didn't clench them into fists, but it was clear he was suppressing his irritability.

But there was a limit to such suppression. Just as he was about to speak, Lucy spoke first instead.

"Losqi, how long has the position for the main person in charge of the Modification School in Apprentice City been vacant?"

Losqi's heart trembled; he felt as if he had heard something incredible.

Starting with this question gave him a premonition—that he would be taking over that position.

"It should be over a month now. I have been handling the School's affairs on behalf of the position during these days."

He smoothed out the wrinkles on his robe, suppressing the sudden surge of excitement in his heart.

Lucy placed her hands on the armrests, remaining motionless as she spoke slowly.

"In that case, you should be the one to take over this position."

This sudden pleasant surprise hit Losqi, making him feel a bit lightheaded and his speech somewhat clumsy.

"Ah... thank you... thank you, Your Excellency."

He never imagined he would obtain this position so easily; he had thought he would have to endure for another five years.

Ever since he was promoted to a Formal Mage and saw the Spell explanations specifically prepared by the School for Formal Mages, he knew his path as a mage might be nearing its end.

His Talent for Spells was extremely poor. Even after joining the School, his level of magic was only in the lower-middle tier among the apprentices.

However, he had joined the Modification School at a good time.

Back then, the Modification School had just established itself in Apprentice City. Forget apprentices, there weren't even many Teachers who had come here.

At that time, with his low level of magic, he could only choose to join the Modification School.

After he joined, a Second-Tier Mage was suddenly dropped in as the person in charge and began to revitalize the School. Since then, the Modification School became a powerhouse in Lodris.

He had benefited from that person in charge back then. He had received a potion emitting a green light, and the person in charge had told him this:

"Drink it, and you can become a Formal Mage."

At that time, he had actually given up on the idea of becoming a Formal Mage because he had failed the Assessment repeatedly, never even coming close to achieving a rank.

But looking at the gaze of that person in charge, he knew he had to drink it. After drinking it, he fell into a coma.

By the time he woke up, a month had passed. He was surprised to find that his Spiritual Power had grown significantly, and he could release Spells without any obstruction.

After that incident, that person in charge left Apprentice City, and Beloli was transferred in from elsewhere.

He didn't know what that person in charge said to Beloli, but he was subsequently assigned to do some management work within the School.

This made him incredibly happy at the time, because management work within the School required selection; if you didn't have a letter of recommendation, you couldn't even think about working for the School.

He also knew that Beloli would likely be transferred away soon, and it would be his turn to serve as the head of the Modification School, but he never expected it to happen so quickly.

"However..." Lucy's tone darkened as she continued.

"I hope you don't cause any trouble in the coming period. I will suppress the previous matters."

Losqi was startled and hurriedly asked:

"But the School's upper management..."

"No need to worry. The Alliance has so many records; those people won't flip through every single file."

"And now, the most critical factor is you. As long as nothing happens next, it will be good for both you and me."

Losqi felt as if all the good luck had come his way. In fact, he had long wanted to conceal the matter and not report it. When something like this happened, even if it was resolved, what benefit would there be for him? If it wasn't resolved, he would be the one in trouble.

So he had always thought of not reporting it if possible. Unfortunately, Beloli's brain hadn't caught on, and he didn't dare not report the subsequent events.

Not reporting the earlier matters might just mean a small fine as a gesture, but not reporting the later ones could cost him his head. Only those with higher status could choose whether or not to report.

Now, not only was that matter settled, but he had also obtained the position of the main person in charge. It was hard for him not to smile.

"As long as that attacker disappears from now on, you can remain the main person in charge."

Lucy emphasized. Losqi felt it was a bit strange; what did that attacker have to do with him? How did it involve... "Mentor, there is a Formal Mage outside who wants to see those inside."

A rapid knocking sound came from outside the door, interrupting Losqi's train of thought.

Lucy glanced at Losqi, then deactivated the soundproofing Spell and opened the door.

"Bring that Formal Mage here."

After a moment, Celine walked over and said to the two of them with a face full of smiles:

"Hello to you both. I am Celine, a First-Order Mage of the Edict School."

"The Edict School? If I remember correctly, isn't it no longer in Apprentice City?"

Lucy said bluntly.

"That was in the past. Now, am I not working hard for the Edict School's return to Lodris?"

As she spoke, Celine took out a large stack of papers and said:

"Here, these are the opinion letters from various Schools agreeing to the Edict School's return. I hope you will support us."

"Why should we sign this?"

Losqi was full of confusion, not quite understanding Celine's behavior. Although his signature was needed for the return, she was asking for it directly without any prior communication. She was treating him with far too little regard.

Meanwhile, Lucy kept staring at Celine without even blinking.

"Well, are you going to sign or not? If you don't sign, I'll have to go find the Necromancy School. I think a large School should take pity on the hardships of a small School like ours."

Celine said with some impatience.

"Fine, bring the documents over. We'll sign."

With a grim face, Lucy interrupted Losqi, who was about to speak, took the large pile of documents, and placed them on the table.

Losqi might not know, but the Edict School had already made contact with a Fourth-Tier Mage. Although the fourth tier was somewhat distant from First and Second-Tier Mages like them, the fact remained that a Fourth-Tier Mage was currently in Apprentice City.

While that Fourth-Tier Mage might not necessarily take action if they didn't sign, it would, after all, be a slight against that Fourth-Tier Mage's prestige.

Furthermore, this matter gave Lucy a lot of room to maneuver. She could attribute this to the pressure from that Fourth-Tier Mage, describe the Edict School's return in great detail, and summarize Beloli's disappearance as 'the School's operations encountered some issues.'
