Viktor and Devon both exchanged a look.
The ice Prince adjusted his snow-white gloves while the redhead sheathed his black sword after briefly brandishing it. Alisha and Trina both prepped themselves as well—every other Hunter waiting for Vice President Genevieve's signal.
After what felt like forever, she moved away from the Rift, typing something in her tablet.
"Hunters—you can now go in. Good luck, stay safe… and Godspeed."
The Hunters didn't dare charge in.
All fifteen of them walked past the Rift one by one, the few Espers with permanent guides making sure to hold theirs close. That included Alisha, whose fingers tightened around Trina's fist.
"Let's do this."
They both crossed the Rift, a burst of white light swallowing them.
Viktor snapped his neck before running headfirst, Devon following with no hesitation.
Nothing could've prepared them or anyone else for what happened next.
Space and time warped.
