Chapter 63 - The Woman No One Can Name

Salvatore's POV

Marco called at seven in the morning.

I was already awake. I had been awake since five, sitting at my desk with the wedding seating chart and a coffee that had gone cold, running the same calculations I had been running for days without arriving at anything new.

I answered on the first ring.

"Talk," I said.

"I have the report on the woman," Marco said. "You're going to want to hear this."

I set down the cold coffee.

"Go ahead."

Massimo left her place like a bat out of hell, disheveled and aggressive, burning rubber in the Ferrari. Marco began, his voice carrying the particular flat efficiency he used when delivering information he knew was significant.

"Shirt untucked. Jacket over his arm like he'd grabbed it on the way out rather than putting it on. His hair.." Marco paused, choosing the word, "looked liked that of a mad-man who'd been up to no good."

I pressed two fingers against the bridge of my nose.

"Keep going," I said.
