Chapter 32 - The Trade Goes Wrong

Leo's POV

The pier was exactly the kind of location Leo would have chosen.

That was the first thing he noted when the car turned onto the waterfront road, and the headlights swept across the old dock structure extending into the black water. Isolated. One road in and one road out. Water on three sides. Nowhere to run that didn't involve a very cold swim or a very exposed sprint back up the dock.

Vitelli had good instincts. He always had.

Leo had known that for three years. Knowing it hadn't made tonight avoidable. It had just meant he walked in without illusions, which was the only honest way to walk into something like this.

He got out of the car.

Price stayed at the wheel. They had covered this. Price's job was the car and the exit and Marco the moment Marco was clear. His job was everything else.
