Chapter 218 - Exploration

Translator: AnubisTL

"What did you do?!"

The moment the Living Flamefrost Plane, sealed within layers of magical formations, fell into complete silence, Viola lunged at Jieming, her eyes fixed on him.

Her face no longer bore the feverish fanaticism of moments before, but an unprecedented shock.

Viola's reaction completely shattered Jieming's perception of her.

Her silver-gray eyes were now wide and round, her pupils trembling slightly with astonishment.

A rare, almost stunned expression crept across her usually icy features. Her lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to speak, but the words caught in her throat, choked by utter disbelief.

Her breath quickened, and a powerful surge of mental power erupted uncontrollably from her, betraying the turmoil within.

She remembered clearly that the turning point in the earth-shattering planar-level battle had come immediately after Jieming asked his seemingly irrelevant question—why the two monster kings had surrendered.

Even a fool could see that there must be some connection between Jieming and the battle's sudden reversal!

Most importantly, Viola realized she couldn't understand what Jieming had done at all!

Wizards based their power on knowledge.

Even though she had just advanced to become a sixth-tier wizard—a level far surpassing Jieming's—her inability to comprehend his actions meant his knowledge in some area far exceeded hers.

This kind of knowledge barrier could sometimes be even more insurmountable than a difference in tiers!

However, after a brief moment of shock, Viola quickly regained her composure, forcibly suppressing the overwhelming turmoil in her heart.

Looking at Jieming's calm expression, she hesitated for a moment before deciding not to ask any further questions.

After all, within the wizarding power system, knowledge was a wizard's most crucial and core secret!

Casually asking questions, especially those clearly involving advanced knowledge systems, was a major taboo in the wizard world.

Even if their relationship was relatively good, a rash inquiry would only make Jieming wary of her.

Moreover, given her current wizard tier, such a question could potentially trigger the Star Orbit Tribunal's prohibitions.

Once Viola realized this, she had no choice but to bury her shock and countless questions deep within her heart.

I never imagined my junior brother would be so... astonishing, Viola mused inwardly, her admiration and surprise eclipsing even her curiosity about the unknown. No wonder... that old fox Clark values this greenhorn so highly...

Jieming knew Viola had already guessed the truth, but he made no attempt to explain.

His decision to activate the fiend suppression curse technique had been purely for self-preservation.

After all, defeat in that situation—with the two planes connected and no immediate escape possible—would have meant certain doom for low-rank wizards like him, while high-rank wizards would likely survive unscathed.

Moreover, he understood the rules of the wizarding world.

As long as he didn't confess, Viola's suspicions would remain meaningless without concrete evidence or firsthand observation.

"Who knows?" Jieming glanced at Viola.

Seeing her shocked and discomposed expression, he suddenly felt a surge of amusement. Mimicking her signature expression—that twisted, playful look—he flashed a meaningful smile. "Senior Sister, seeing you in such pain... yet slightly shocked and discomposed... truly brings me... such satisfaction!"

"You!"

Viola's recently composed expression instantly shattered into shock.

She blinked, then abruptly reached out with a blank face and pressed her hand heavily onto Jieming's shoulder.

Beneath her palm, a powerful aura carrying the pressure of a sixth-tier wizard erupted, instantly filling the air.

Though there was no physical attack, the oppressive force was enough to paralyze Jieming completely.

"It seems I've been too lenient, letting you get a little... carried away," Viola's voice was now as cold as polar ice, each word carrying the unquestionable authority of a high-rank superior.

"I'm sorry! I was wrong!" Jieming, feeling a sharp pain in his shoulder, immediately surrendered. He instantly dropped his "perverted" expression and offered a sincere apology.

Viola's face softened with satisfaction as she withdrew her hand.

This brief exchange served as a way for both of them to unwind and release the tension after the intense battle.

With the successful sealing of the Living Flamefrost Plane, the heart-stopping plane war had finally come to a complete end.

Several months later, Jieming found himself once again in the void, but this time he wasn't on the ship plane. Instead, he stood on a vast, floating fragment of a continent suspended in mid-air.

This fragment was one of countless floating islands formed after the surface materials of the Flamefrost Plane disintegrated.

At that moment, he was busily bent over, collecting ecological data on the various organisms inhabiting the fragment.

He carefully placed a patch of moss, glowing with a faint, ethereal blue light, into a sample bag. The moss had been growing in a crevice between the rocks.

Next, he gently touched a thumb-sized black insect hibernating in the ice with a specialized probe, recording its life fluctuations and elemental structure.

Although the core consciousness of the Flamefrost Plane had been sealed, this didn't mean the work of logistics wizards like Jieming was finished.

On the contrary, the unprecedented existence of a "living plane" had made their tasks more numerous and complex.

Jieming's mission over the past few months had been to survey the remaining ecosystems and resource reserves of the Flamefrost Plane.

After all, while "fighting" the Living Flamefrost Plane had been exhilarating, the cost had been devastating.

The original surface materials of the entire Flamefrost Plane had been vaporized by at least ninety percent due to repeated planar-Level impacts!

The remaining landmasses had been transformed into floating islands, suspended above the shattered core.

These floating islands varied greatly in size, ranging from a few hundred meters to tens of kilometers in diameter.

They were interconnected by a chaotic yet peculiar force field, swaying precariously in the void.

To fully survey these fragmented regions, along with their remaining ecosystems and resources, would undoubtedly require immense time, effort, and even some risk.

Jieming sighed and put away his detection device.

He knew that their relentless work wouldn't cease until the data was analyzed and a new planar transformation plan was formulated.

The entire battle group, including Wizard Augustine, was working tirelessly.

In truth, Jieming was content with his busy schedule here. Compared to others, he had the opportunity to reap additional rewards.

After gathering the information, Jieming performed a hand seal and lightly stamped his foot.

Wisps of black fiend qi drifted out, which Jieming collected into his Gangsha Gathering Gourd.

This was his additional harvest.

Although most of the fiend qi had been consumed by the living plane, during its resistance, a significant amount had been scattered across the surrounding floating islands.

Previously, when this high-grade fiend qi was concentrated, Jieming lacked the means to collect it. Now, it was a stroke of good fortune amidst misfortune.
