Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The First Kill and the Price of Survival

The air in the half-finished basement grew cold, vibrating with the low, guttural growls of something that was no longer human. Aryan stood still, his heart thumping like a war drum. Outside, the security guard—once a tired old man—was now a twisted mess of blue veins and pale, rotting skin. A Ghoul.

[Ding!]

[Mission Update: Neutralize the Mana-Infected Ghoul.]

[Estimated Threat Level: Rank F (Low).]

"I'm sorry, Uncle," Aryan whispered, his voice cold and devoid of the librarian's warmth. "But in this world, mercy is a luxury I can't afford."

He looked at the dark silhouette at his feet—the Shadow Rat. "Go. Distract him."

With a silent hiss, the Shadow Rat blurred across the dusty floor, a streak of darkness merging with the shadows. As the Ghoul lunged through the doorway, its crimson eyes fixed on Aryan, the Shadow Rat leaped, its spectral claws sinking into the monster's leg.

The Ghoul roared, a sound like grinding stones, and tried to swat the small creature away. But the rat was too fast, dancing around the monster's ankles, slowing its movement.

This was the opening Aryan needed.

He didn't have a sword or a gun, but he had the Chronos Archive. As he focused, a surge of dark energy flowed from the book into his right hand. He picked up a discarded iron rod from the construction debris.

[Skill Activated: Shadow Binding (Passive trait of Shadow Extraction).]

Aryan stepped on the Ghoul's shadow. For a split second, the monster froze, pinned to the spot by its own shadow. Aryan lunged forward, swinging the iron rod with all the desperation and fury of a man who had seen the world end once before.

CRACK!

The rod connected with the Ghoul's skull. Black, foul-smelling blood sprayed across Aryan's face. The monster collapsed, its body twitching before falling silent forever.

[Ding!]

[Target Neutralized.]

[Experience Gained: 200 XP.]

[Level Up! Level 3 -> Level 4.]

[Loot Detected: Fragmented Mana Crystal (Rank F).]

Aryan panted, wiping the black sludge from his forehead. His hands weren't shaking. He looked at the corpse and raised his hand, his eyes glowing with a faint, violet light.

"Rise."

The shadow beneath the dead guard began to bubble like boiling ink. Slowly, a tall, shadowy figure emerged, its hands ending in sharp, jagged claws.

[New Shadow Servant Acquired: Ghoul Soldier (Rank F).]

[Current Shadow Army: 2/5.]

"Two soldiers," Aryan muttered, a grim smile touching his lips. But his victory was interrupted by a sudden vibration in the air.

[Warning!]

[Vetting Process Initialized: The Chronos Archive has been detected by 'The Overseers'.]

[Anomalous Mana Signature detected in the city center.]

Aryan looked toward the Dhaka city skyline. A massive, golden pillar of light was erupting from the National Museum area—months before it was supposed to happen.

"That's impossible," Aryan's face went pale. "The first Dungeon Break wasn't supposed to happen for another three months. Why is the timeline changing?"

A realization hit him like a physical blow. By returning to the past and changing his fate, he had inadvertently accelerated the Doomsday.

[New Urgent Quest: The Sunken Library.]

[Objective: Reach the Museum within 2 hours or the 'First Calamity' will begin early.]

[Penalty: Death of 50% of the city's population.]

Aryan gripped his black book. The game had changed. He wasn't just preparing for the future anymore—he was fighting a butterfly effect that could destroy everything before he was even ready.
