The Lost Vampire System Chapter 53 - Secrets Shared
"Before that," Damion said. "I never actually got your name."
"Me either," Madison concurred.
"Arden," she answered. "Arden Voss."
"Damion," the Nephilim said.
"She's pretty small," Jareth said. "I could just keep her in my backpack."
"What about for the expedition?" Madison asked.
"You could still bring her along," Arden suggested. "Feed her a Becifer crystal or two to help her grow."
Tired, Sophia thought as she gave a yawn.
"That's a good idea," Jareth said as he wrapped her up and gently placed her in his backpack. "What I'm worried about is if she gets caught."
"We'll just say that you have a Becifer-taming Evolved power," Damion said.
"Would they even believe that?" Madison questioned. "Only a small group knows how to do it, and even if they believe that Jareth figured out how to learn it, he doesn't have a backing."
"Then we'll just have to make her stronger and quicker," Arden said as she went to her computer. "I'll just buy a couple hundred crystals for her and…WHAT?!" she yelled, then quickly covered her mouth, remembering the sleeping Becifer.
Jareth opened up his backpack, but she was sleeping soundly. He closed it up as he sighed.
"Sorry," Arden whispered. "I'm locked out of my bank accounts."
"How are you locked out?" Damion asked as he looked at her screen but quickly got a headache seeing the sheer speed of it.
"Someone is blocking me," she quietly growled. "How is this possible?"
"So, you just became useless," Damion casually said.
The screen stopped as Arden turned around.
"I am more than just money," she defended. "I can still go into files, change information, create false information, make the algorithm in my game promote whatever I want to, and I still am very rich in NYXIS. We just have to get the funds on the first of the month and transfer them into my secret account. I knew I should've moved it in there."
"Fine, fine," Damion said. "I'll go in the game whenever you go back in and make sure that you don't die so I can get my 10 billion gold coins back."
"Why don't you just kill Arden's avatar?" Madison suggested. "You claim your own bounty and just absorb all of her gear and return it to her when she revives."
"Not a bad idea," Damion chuckled. "It would satisfy me."
"It can be considered," Arden said. "Though we can do that after the expedition. Right now, I have to work on my suit so I can kill Becifers and survive in the expedition."
"Right," Jareth said. "We should probably train. Arden, what is the planet like?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. They keep changing the location. My guess is, based off what my homeroom teacher said, that they have the location description, but they keep changing the name of the planet for some reason. Maybe they think it's going to get leaked or something."
"I guess it doesn't matter," Jareth said as he stood up and carefully put on his backpack so as not to wake the little queen. "I'll still train with my sword and improve it. I might as well let you guys know that if it is a sunny planet, I will be pretty useless until night falls. I have a protective skill and can change the light around me, but my sword trade and vampire abilities will be heavily limited."
"Just get an umbrella," Arden suggested. "It may or may not work."
"Trade?" Damion asked.
"Let's see you explain this without telling those two about me," Apollo said.
"My father gave me an Evolved power called Jack of all Trades. I can't learn Evolved powers traditionally, but I can acquire abilities in certain situations. So far, I have gained a sun power and a swordsmanship trade from this sword. That's why I want to practice with my sword."
"Interesting," Damion said. "Is that the true reason why you didn't take what the military offered?"
"It played a part," Jareth said. "If there was no other choice, I would have, but then I got the system and—"
"System?" Damion questioned. "What system?"
"Um," Jareth said as he glanced at Madison, who was now eyeing Damion.
"I'm just kidding," Damion said. "I wasn't 100% sure about that, but now I know. It's the only way that a vampire could evolve, if someone had gotten the system. My spy, now dead, had told me."
Jareth breathed a sigh as Damion was just messing with him.
"Now," Damion continued. "My guess is that because of what you are, you can't learn one, so your dad came up with a solution."
"About right," Jareth said. "Like my dad had already turned against whatever our family mission was."
"Can't blame you," he agreed. "If you found out what my family does, you'd turn against them too. Now it's only four, so do you want to train or eat?"
"Probably should eat early," Jareth said, "as I don't want complications."
"Well, we got a human," Madison casually said like it was normal.
The three of them looked at Arden. She looked between the three of them before realizing what was happening.
"Oh, um," she stuttered. "Fine, what do I do? Do you drink from my neck?"
She tilted her head to the left while simultaneously unbuttoning her top two buttons, revealing more of her neck.
"I don't want to have to clean this uniform on day one," Arden said.
"This might be a little weird," Jareth said as he walked over to her. "I'm still new at this."
Jareth leaned in as Arden closed her eyes. Jareth didn't feel any urges, and he didn't want Madison cutting people's necks. He inhaled through his nose, and he could smell her, her skin, and her blood as his eyes glowed slightly. He could feel his teeth elongating as he sank them into her neck.
"Ah," she gasped as she covered her mouth.
After a few moments, a notification popped up.
"Blood Energy: 40 of 40. Health: 25 of 25."
Jareth let go of her neck, but not before leaving a little of his spit behind to heal her up. Arden touched her neck but could only feel his saliva as the wound had healed.
"Now that's done," Damion said. "Let's go and get ready for the expedition."
