Chapter 52 - Blue Entry, Red Entry, Gold Entry 【Kaioken】!

It was a Bound Entry — equip it without using up any Entry slots, just like a TM.

The Daily Entry had started things off well, making Lin Yu even more excited for the draws ahead.

[Blue Entry (Thorn Armor):

When the bearer is hit, deal 0–30% recoil damage, based on the attacker's power.]

Lin Yu's eyes lit up. Another great Entry.

Hit me, and you hurt yourself.

Perfect for his tanky Charmeleon.

Charmeleon had incredible stamina, after all — it could keep going and going.

A red light blazed — the Seasonal Entry was red-rarity!

Lin Yu's anticipation spiked.

[Red Entry (Psystorm):

Unleash all Psychic power at once to form a massive storm. Deals heavy damage to both body and mind.

Normal-type (80), Psychic-type (120).]

A ultimate move for Kirlia!

Lin Yu's eyes shone, and he equipped it to Kirlia without hesitation.

"Kirl~"

Kirlia, who never liked staying inside its Poké Ball, froze for a moment, then lit up with joy.

Lin Yu had given it a new move again!

"Kirl~" (I love you the most, Lin Yu~)

Kirlia kissed him straight on the cheek, catching him off guard.

After calming it down,

Lin Yu turned his focus to the big one — the Half-Year Entry.

He tapped lightly.

Golden light exploded!

Gold-rarity!

[Gold Entry (Kaioken):

When activated, all physical abilities and energy power rise by over 50%. Causes exhaustion afterward.

(Fighting-type Pokémon only.)]

Kaioken…

From the anime Dragon Ball.

A technique that multiplied battle power exponentially.

Lin Yu was thrilled.

This was more than worthy of being a gold Entry.

But there was one problem —

he didn't own any Fighting-type Pokémon!

If Charmeleon could use it, it would jump to a whole new level.

"Whatever. I'll catch a Fighting-type later."

Once he'd assigned all Entries, Lin Yu checked the Entry Shop.

1678 — his current Entry Coin total.

He could easily afford the Legendary Summon Card.

But… if he summoned a Legendary…

could he really make it willingly join him?

It felt unrealistic.

He only had a Legendary-favoring physique — he had no idea what Legendary might appear.

And it would cause a massive uproar.

What if…

he summoned one that hated humans?

He had no clue how Legendaries in this world felt about people.

After thinking it over, Lin Yu decided against gambling on it.

Most importantly…

he still didn't have a Master Ball.

Instead, he bought the Charizardite Set.

It was a complete set —

meaning his future Charizard could Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y.

But there was a small problem…

In this Pokémon world…

Mega Evolution hadn't been discovered yet.

Once he had official researcher status, he could publish a paper on it.

That night.

The arena was packed — every seat filled.

Viewership ratings jumped several points.

Everyone was there to watch Lin Yu.

So far, only one challenger had beaten three Gym Leaders.

When the host asked if they wanted to keep going for the secret grand prize, they'd refused.

But…

what bigger headline could there be than a first-year high school student earning the Professional Trainer Certificate?

In big cities, near Secret Realms with rare Pokémon,

young pros might exist.

But in Shuimu City?

Almost unheard of.

In this moment, he was the pride of Shuimu's new generation.

After a short thought, Lin Yu chose to challenge the Flame Gym first!

"Ladies and gentlemen, Lin Yu is no stranger to this arena!

Who would've thought he'd return so soon, stronger than ever?!"

The same commentator from the high-school tournament hyped up the crowd with a booming voice.

Both sides entered the field.

Behind Zhong Yue stood Charizard, huffing smoke through its nostrils.

"You kid…"

Zhong Yue looked at the teenager with a complicated mix of surprise and pride.

In half a year, he'd grown strong enough to stand against him.

"Going with your shiny Frogadier?"

"Of course!"

Water beats Fire — Frogadier had the clear advantage.

"Frogadier, go!"

The shiny black Frogadier appeared on the field, instantly forming a blue Water Shuriken. It stood sideways, eyes sharp and proud.

Lin Yu's first thought:

Show-off.

He never knew Frogadier loved being cool.

The crowd reacted very differently.

"Waaaah! So cool! I love this Frogadier!"

A group of female fans screamed.

"Frogadier, I wanna have your— wait, no!"

With his Aura Sense, Lin Yu heard every word.

"Quilava, go!"

Out came a Pokémon with dark blue on its head and back, flames blazing fiercely on its tail and forehead.

Level 29 — Elite Peak.

And commanded by the Flame Gym Leader.

"Show us your best! Win or lose, it doesn't matter!"

"God Yu, we got your back!"

Even though Lin Yu had amazed everyone at the tournament,

most of the crowd still didn't think he would win.

"Battle begin!"

"Quilava, don't underestimate it! Roll + Flame Wheel!"

Zhong Yue was used to fighting wild Pokémon, and that instinct showed even in a formal match.

He knew Quilava was at a type disadvantage, slower than Frogadier.

And that strange Water Pulse (Rasengan) —

the one that needed Double Team to charge, with unimaginable power.

If he dragged it out, he would lose.

Better to risk everything in one strike.

"One move to decide it? I like that!"

Through Aura Sense, Lin Yu felt Quilava pouring every drop of energy into this attack.

"Frogadier, use our new move! Lightning Chidori!"

Lin Yu shouted.

Thunder crackled around Frogadier, water swirling with it.

It spun the Water Shuriken in the air.

A bird of lightning, brighter and more brilliant than Zapdos, took shape above the field.

"KYYAAH!"
