"What is your ability?".
"Shadow, ma;am."
She noted something on the tablet she held like a clipboard and gestured for him to join the others inthe circle.
"Erin Heyley."
The boys watched as the blond who clearly felt attacked by Vorden touching her shoulder stepped forward. Te demonstration indicated her ability and the woman didn't even need to ask. She simply noted something on the tablet nd the girl was sent to the circle.
"Vorden Blade."
He stepped forward giving Quinn a wink and an touched his thumb and forefinger together int he traditional "okay" hand signal.
"What is your ability?"
"It's an original ability."
She noted something on her tablet and gestured for him to join the others.
"Shadow huh?" Vorden asked, leaning toward Quinn's ear whispering, "That's only available to the Punishers, I thought. Are you a Punisher?"
Before Quinn could respond, they were teleported to what felt like and appeared to be a waste land. There were scorch marks on the ground. There was hardly any wind and the air had an acrid smell to it.
Peter didn't need to do the assessment because he was issued a book. He stood back and watched the others perform to the best of their ability wishing he was as strong as they were. Someday I'll be strong. Things will be different here now that I will have an ability. Just wait and see.
Layla went first and shot 5 arrows at once at 5 targets, hitting each one. She used her telekinesis on the strength test of hitting a barrel and was disappointed when she only got an 8. Not understanding the agility test, Layla tried to use her telekinesis on the holographic poles that were trying to hit her. She moved just in time or she would have been eliminated ont he first pole movement. Still, she was disappointed in her overall performance. She was told she was a level 2.
Quinn was next. This was his first time performing in front of those who were not Punishers. He was still a fairly new shadow ability user and his ability wasn't really geared for this type of test. However, the tester didn't need to know that. Quinn used his shadow control to wrap around his fists and punched all the metal sign-like devices. With his vampire strength, destroying them was easy.
He was happy to let them think the shadow did that. At the barrel, Quinn put his full strength into his punch to back up the fact that he was a level 2. He had feeling the scores were similar to the stats his system showed him. The system was how he became a vampire. And why he attained level 12 as a vampire in only two years. Based on his agility stat, Quinn also went all out to ensure his score showed accurately at level 2.
Erin was next. She shot ice at all the targets, shot ice at the barrel and scored a 50 for strength and did really well on dexterity. She was told her result was a 5 and was only the third person so far to be that strong. She didn't look surprised at all by her result. What surprised everyone was Vorden was next and he did exactly the same thing Erin did and got the same score.
Vorden rejoined the two boys, "see, I'm strong!" he said with a practically glowing smile on his face.
All three of the vampires were sent to different dorm rooms. Quinn was assigned to two other people. One of them, he knew, was the Blade boy, the one touching everyone prior to the assessment. Another was a kid he felt bad for, had no ability, and was given an earth ability to make a difference.
While the Little One had his reasons for Vorden becoming friends with Quinn, Vorden had his own. He knew Quinn and Peter were going to get bullied. Having been bullied by his family, Vorden didn't want to see it in school and vowed to himself he would help where he could.
Quinn realized that not everything was going to be simple despite all the preparations. He was still being bullied, even though he was level 2. His level 1 room mate had it even worse. Why are the level twos and level ones always getting bullied?This nonsense has gotta stop.
As soon as Quinn went down the hallway after class ended for lunch, he encountered a blond girl trying to protect her blond brother from being bullied by three people. One was trying to get access to the boy's watch, clearly trying to steal money. As soon as he prepared to attack, the ground shook and a bunch of vines shot up and started knocking the boys back.
Quinn quickly ran up and asked if they were both alright.
The girl said, "we are just fine."
Quinn reached out his hand, looking at the girl, "what's your name?"
"My name is Lana, and this is my brother Dobin."
Quinn realized something was weird, Lana didn't smell human. He immediately inspected her.

"Lana, what's your ability? I've never seen that before."
"Oh, I'm an original. It's plants. If you'll excuse me, I need to tend to my brother's wounds before returning to class."
Quinn pondered the information he just received and headed back to his class, unsure how to react to another alien species in the school. This is the first time he's ever encountered another species besides vampires
Nearest sunset
Quinn said to his roommates, "I have a little bit of money, I'm willing to buy something a the store. Would you guys be willing to join me for it?"
"Sure we'll join you!"
Quinn and his two roommates head off to the store to pick up a few things. As they headed back to the campus, Quinn noticed from afar there was trouble. A girl got surrounded by a bunch of high level boys and dragged her away to the forest. He immediately sprinted off telling them there's trouble ahead. He realized a low level student was getting attacked.
As soon as Quinn arrived at the forest, Lana and Dobin were both running toward the forest. Quinn rushed past them and proceeded to attack the boy who managed to shred the girl's clothes. He knocked out the other boys quickly with his fists of shadows. Lana and Dobin arrived just as the trouble was over.
"Turn around," Lana said to Quinn firmly.
Quinn looked at her for a moment wondering if he should listen and finally does it. Lana removed her uniform and handed it to the girl and covered herself with her vines, that she called her stage-1 armor. The girl quickly got dressed thankful for being able to be covered.
"Ouch!" Lana heard a noise in the forest and knew from what the trees told her that Vorden had arrived. He saw the girl partially naked and tripped over a root in his distraction as he raced to the area to help Quinn.
Lana smirked because the aura that was controlling the body earlier was no longer there. The one controlling the body now was the one she noticed on the left side of the forehead. The one she noticed on the right side retreated as she watched "Vorden" approach.
Dobin stepped in front of the girl to give her some privacy while she got dressed.
Lana looked at Quinn, "thank you for responding to this. I didn't want to do what I thought I would have to. You have no idea how grateful I am that I didn't have to do that! What are you going to do with these monsters?"
"Humph, I'd rather beat them and leave them here for the sergeants to find for now. Monitor the situation."
Lana nodded, "I see. In that case, I'll leave you guys to it." She nodded to Vorden with a smile and a nod to Peter who she had just noticed was behind Vorden. As she left the area, she touched a tree and whispered "wake up" and walked away.
"By the way, you might want to leave the clearing," Lana said as she walked away, heading back to her dorm room.
Sometime later that night.
They are standing in front with three Leaders.
Quinn responded, "Grandfather, what are you doing here?"
Vincent responded, "I decided that I needed to be more proactive in training you, and what better way to train you than to be here. My wife will be able to take care of everything on the 10th castle and other operations there for the time being, and I've gotten permission from the king to do this."
Silver and Kaz rolled their eyes over Vincent's attempt at nonchalance.
Vincent said, "I'm going to be your home room teacher, Quinn. I expect you to carefully choose your ten people to join you."
Kaz spoke up, "Alright, we are here to train you guys in preparations for operations in the dark, among humans, and also get you more familiar with your powers. We found some suspicious activity already. There seems to be some kind of distortion going on in the school. You 3, I'm going to have to go around and investigate it. And then we will be giving you special suits. It'll allow you to be disguised. Thanks to an ally here named Logan Green. Give him your respect and be friendly to him."
Vincent said, "Please do not make me have to write up a report to the Greens family. I'd rather not have to explain that to them at all. My family has been very close to them for many years. Please, do not screw this up."
Silver said, "We want you to mesmerize those you intend to get blood from. You can feed on them, but make sure you are covering your tracks thoroughly. Find out some details about this money operation and least expose them. Report to us if you need help. We will be following your progress and keeping an eye on you. Be cautious."
The three boys jumped off. "Wow, shouldn't it be nice around and finding any trouble out there?"
It didn't take long for the three to find a group of Level 3 Ability users surrounding this one Level 1. This meant that he had to hand over his money instantly. The three immediately took out all three of them without ever being noticed, knocking them all out.
Quinn stood in front of the other boy, told him to get out of there. As soon as he took off, the three vampires each took a blood sample for later consumption, while Quinn dipped his finger in the blood of the other two and added that blood to his own sample.
As the three vampires returned, Silver spoke up, "Well done, everyone. Your first night was successful. You managed to save two of the first years. Go get yourself some sleep. Classes will soon be starting."
As Quinn walked back into his room, Vorden sat up. "What on earth were you doing all night?"
Quinn responded, "Going around beating up on bullies who are trying to steal credits from the low levels."
Vorden responded, "Do you really want to have that much attention on yourself? Aren't you taking a huge risk? What if you get caught and expose yourself? It could cause quite a bit of trouble for your own faction."
Quinn replied, "I'll be just fine. I have help right now. The three leaders are here to watch over us and make sure we do it correctly. There's very little chance for us to have an incident."
Quinn walked to his bed, laid down and was fast asleep in minutes.
