Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Apprenticeship, Titled Douluo

"Give… give… give me a master?"

Ye Feng was stunned. He had only just thought that Tang San had a Titled Douluo father, and now the system actually wanted to assign him a master as well. Moreover, it was a master at the Titled Douluo level.

Suddenly, there was a sharp crack in the air. A figure descended from the sky.

The visitor was an old man dressed in a spotless white robe. His beard and hair were completely white, and his long silver hair was neatly combed behind his back. His appearance was simple and clean, his face delicate, almost youthful, yet his expression was indifferent. He stood there silently, without saying a word, but gave off a feeling as if he alone dominated the world.

The old man descended with his sword and stepped onto the land of Holy Soul Village. His gaze swept around before finally settling on Ye Feng.

Ye Feng looked at the old man, and the old man looked at Ye Feng.

Immediately after, another sound of breaking wind echoed through the air. A second figure appeared on a nearby rooftop, jumped down, and landed silently beside the old man.

The second person was a middle-aged man. His face was refined like carved jade, with a straight nose and square mouth. He wore a spotless white robe. He appeared to be around forty years old, with gentle eyes and smooth black hair flowing behind him. No matter how one looked at him, he seemed like an ordinary and elegant person.

"Uncle Jian, is it here?" the middle-aged man asked.

"It was here just now. Why did it suddenly disappear?" the old man replied, frowning slightly. His voice was sharp, like a blade.

Uncle Jian?

Ye Feng was startled when he heard the middle-aged man address the old man that way.

In the world of soul masters, very few people matched such a description — white hair and beard, flying on a sword — and were known as "Uncle Sword." In Ye Feng's mind, one name immediately appeared: Jian Daochen Xin, the Guardian Douluo of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile School.

Ye Feng then looked at the middle-aged man. His luxurious clothing and refined bearing suggested that he was Ning Fengzhi, the Sect Master of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile School.

"Judging by the time, it should be when the school-age children in nearby villages awaken their martial souls. Could he have already left?" Ning Fengzhi asked thoughtfully.

"I don't think he has left," Jian Daochen said, staring intently at Ye Feng.

When Jian Daochen Xin and Ning Fengzhi had passed by earlier, Jian Daochen suddenly sensed a strange fluctuation. The aura was not weak. As someone who devoted his life to the sword, he could clearly feel that someone nearby possessed a powerful sword-type martial soul.

From the fluctuation of the aura, Jian Daochen could tell that the quality of this martial soul was not inferior to his own Seven Killing Sword. Curious, the two came to the Spirit Hall of Holy Soul Village.

"Level thirty soul power!" Ning Fengzhi suddenly exclaimed while looking at Ye Feng.

"Level thirty?" Ye Feng was stunned.

He had only just awakened his martial soul and still didn't know how to conceal his soul power. Under Ning Fengzhi's scrutiny, his level was instantly revealed.

Only then did Ye Feng understand why the system had not rewarded him when he complained earlier. It turned out that his innate soul power was ten levels higher than Qian Renxue's. Naturally, the conditions for triggering a reward had not been met.

"Little boy, what is your martial spirit? Show it to me," Jian Daochen said calmly, his tone unquestionable.

"Okay." Ye Feng smiled faintly and raised his right hand.

A martial soul appeared in his palm.

"Nine-Heart Begonia?" Ning Fengzhi exclaimed in surprise.

As the possessor of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda martial soul, Ning Fengzhi was widely recognized as having the number one auxiliary martial soul on the continent. However, only he knew that the true number one auxiliary martial soul was not the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda, but the Nine-Heart Begonia.

Therefore, Ning Fengzhi had a special sensitivity toward the Nine-Heart Begonia martial soul.

"No, this isn't the Nine-Heart Begonia," Ning Fengzhi muttered after careful observation. "It looks similar, but the color and material are clearly different."

Although Ye Feng's martial soul was shaped like a nine-heart begonia, it had no color. It was completely transparent, like it had been carved from jade.

Even so, Ning Fengzhi could sense that the quality of Ye Feng's martial soul was actually above that of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda.

Shock flashed in Jian Daochen's eyes as well. After a moment, he said, "I'm not referring to your auxiliary martial soul. I'm referring to your sword-type martial soul."

"Sword-type martial soul?" Ning Fengzhi repeated in disbelief.

"Ah." Jian Daochen nodded.

Both he and Ning Fengzhi stared at Ye Feng as if they had discovered a priceless treasure.

Throughout history, only two known soul masters had possessed twin martial souls. One of them was Bibi Dong, the Pope of Spirit Hall.

If a soul master possessed two martial souls, they could have up to eighteen spirit rings. The additional nine rings would greatly enhance their strength.

However, Jian Daochen and Ning Fengzhi did not know that Ye Feng had not two, but three martial souls. In the future, he could possess not eighteen, but twenty-seven spirit rings.

"Boy, show me your sword-type martial soul," Jian Daochen said firmly.

"Alright." Ye Feng responded helplessly.

He raised his left hand. A small golden sword appeared, suspended above his palm.

On one side of the blade were engravings of the sun, moon, and stars. On the other side were mountains, rivers, and trees. The hilt bore carvings symbolizing agriculture and strategy, as if representing the unification of the four seas.

The sword emitted a radiant and extraordinary aura.

Although it had no spirit rings attached, faint ripples surrounded it.

Boom.

As soon as the sword appeared, Jian Daochen clearly felt his own Seven Killing Sword tremble. It was as if it had encountered something terrifying.

"You truly have awakened twin martial souls," Jian Daochen said.

Ning Fengzhi became emotional. Looking directly at Ye Feng, he suddenly asked, "Boy, are you engaged?"

Ye Feng and Jian Daochen were both stunned.

The meaning was obvious — Ning Fengzhi wanted Ye Feng to marry Ning Rongrong.

"Fengzhi!" Jian Daochen said in a low voice.

"Ahem." Ning Fengzhi coughed awkwardly. "Boy, where are your parents? Can you take me to meet them?"

"My parents are dead," Ye Feng replied calmly.

"Dead?" Ning Fengzhi frowned slightly. A marriage required the consent of the parents and a proper matchmaker. With Ye Feng's parents gone, things became complicated.

"Boy, what is your name?" Jian Daochen asked instead, his sharp gaze fixed on Ye Feng.

"Ye Feng. 'Ye' as in leaves, and 'Feng' as in mountain peak," Ye Feng replied.

"Ye Feng… A good name," Jian Daochen said. After a brief pause, he added, "It seems that today, I, Jian Daochen, will insist on something."

Ye Feng was startled.

Could it be that Sword Douluo Jian Daochen Xin wanted to take him as his disciple?
