Chapter 65 - Chapter 67 — Red Phoenix: Fire Over Khar’Voss

Drakari Core System — Khar'Voss Prime

The first thing the civilians noticed was that the sky had changed color.

Not because of Hive.

They were used to Hive now.

The sky turned red because space itself tore open.

Twenty warp signatures aligned in a perfect circle around the Drakari capital.

And at the center—

A shadow bigger than their orbital defense grid.

Leviathan.

Drakari Command Bridge

"Unknown fleet signature!"

"That's not unknown, idiot—that's Sol!"

"Why is it so… symmetrical?"

"Why is it red?"

Because Red Phoenix doesn't arrive quietly.

It arrives like a sunrise.

Aboard Leviathan — Grand Marshal Arcturus Vale

Arcturus did not shout orders.

He sipped tea.

Actual tea.

Because discipline terrifies the enemy more than screaming.

"Status."

"Twenty sub-fleets in formation, sir."

"Hive siege cluster at 38% planetary encirclement."

"Drakari shields collapsing."

Arcturus nodded once.

"Good."

Bridge crew blinked.

"Sir?"

"They haven't adapted to us yet."

The Hive Notices

Hive Mark IV cluster recalculates.

Sol energy signature detected.

Adaptive probability: Rising.

Response: Compress.

Hive carriers form layered defense dome.

Bio-metal lattice thickens.

They remember First Fleet's public demonstration.

They expect brute force.

They prepare absorption.

They are wrong.

Arcturus Smiles Slightly

"Signal Dreadnought wings."

"Phase Pattern Spiral-Three."

"Begin low-frequency false fire."

One junior officer mutters quietly:

"Spiral-Three? That's the annoying one."

Arcturus glances sideways.

"Correct."

The Spiral Begins

Instead of firing full output—

Red Phoenix fires deliberately weak volleys.

Hive absorbs.

Energy readings spike in Hive favor.

Drakari observers panic.

"Why are they underfiring?!"

"They're losing output!"

But Red Phoenix isn't losing.

It's measuring.

Every absorption node.

Every adaptive pivot.

Every lattice reinforcement.

Hive increases confidence.

Adaptive rate climbs.

Then Leviathan Moves

No warning.

No dramatic speech.

Leviathan rotates its core 17 degrees.

That angle matters.

Because Spiral-Three was never the attack.

It was calibration.

"Triple-Core. Partial Release."

"Seven percent surge."

The beam fires.

Not straight.

Curved.

Hive dome cannot redistribute load across curved vector.

One side of the dome liquefies.

Entire carrier ruptures.

Drakari bridge goes silent.

On the Ground — Drakari Civilian POV

A little girl looks up at the sky.

The red glow flickers.

Hive tendrils retract from orbital ring.

Her father whispers:

"Sol is here."

She doesn't understand fleets.

But she understands this:

The sky feels safe again.

Hive Counterstrike

Mark IV cluster adapts rapidly.

New bio-plasma cannons emerge.

Fire concentrated arc at a Fortress-class escort.

Impact.

Shield drops to 71%.

First heavy hit.

Bridge tension rises.

"Sir?"

Arcturus finally sets down his tea.

"Good."

Crew is confused.

He continues:

"They're learning the wrong lesson."

Full Overdrive Burst

"5-Core Dreadnought wings."

"Overdrive. Two-second window."

"That's unstable!"

"Yes."

Energy spikes across Red Phoenix formation.

But only for two seconds.

Hive absorption nodes try to match frequency.

They can't.

Because it changes mid-second.

Two seconds of chaos.

Hive lattice fractures in five separate locations.

Leviathan fires through fracture gap.

Three carriers erased.

Comedy Moment — Internal Bridge Banter

One officer whispers:

"Remind me never to fight us."

Another replies:

"If we ever do, resign immediately."

Arcturus doesn't smile.

But his eyes do.

Hive Desperation

Mark IV fuses into a massive defensive organism.

Half organic.

Half lattice.

Shielding entire planetary ring.

It begins absorbing debris to regenerate.

Drakari gasp.

"That thing is growing!"

Arcturus tilts his head.

"Impressive."

Pause.

"Burn it."

Leviathan shifts to 15%.

This time—

Full straight-line annihilation.

Stellar lance pierces through regenerative core.

Red Phoenix dreadnoughts follow with converging gravitic shear.

The organism tears itself apart trying to adapt to multiple axes.

Hive cluster retreats.
