"I figured as much, but you lot are honestly even worse than I expected." Tatsuya let out a bitter smile and reached out his hand. Closing his eyes, he muttered under his breath, "Return to how you once were..."
A surge of psions erupted from him like a tidal wave, sweeping across the decimated landscape that had been torn apart during the struggle against the Black Mist.
Then, a miracle happened. The wreckage began to stitch itself back together at a staggering speed. Boulders that had been shattered into a thousand shards fused back into solid stone. The jagged cracks in the earth sealed shut, as if they had never existed. Small craters vanished, and fallen trees hoisted themselves back up, standing as firm and tall as before.
The rest of the group stood there, completely floored by the sheer scale of Tatsuya's Super Regrowth.
Makoto actually forgot to blink for a good few seconds.
Testarossa's jaw dropped, her beautiful eyes wide with a level of shock she couldn't hide.
Kurumi pressed a hand to her lips in surprise, though she didn't stop using her other hand to continue tearing through the Black Mist.
Aiz drifted off into a daze for a moment before snapping back to the reality of the battlefield. She was the first to regain her composure, followed quickly by Makoto, Testarossa, and Kurumi.
Without a word, they threw themselves back into the fray.
Tatsuya wasn't about to just stand by, either. He jumped back into the action, assisting them with 'Mist Dispersion.' To be honest, it would've been way easier if he just used 'Material Burst,' but when he thought about the catastrophic fallout of using Strategic-Class magic, he had to force himself to hold back.
It wouldn't exactly be a laughing matter if he ended up rewriting the world map just to get rid of some mist. Besides, the threat level hadn't reached the point where Material Burst was a necessity yet.
"This is impossible! There's no way my race could lose to imperfect creatures like humans!" a man stammered, his voice trembling with pure disbelief.
Right in front of him, the Black Mist was being systematically slaughtered by the members of the chat group.
Tatsuya was the first to notice the man's presence. After erasing the Black Mist surrounding him, he walked straight toward the stranger.
"An unfamiliar face, but a very familiar aura. You're the leader of this bunch, aren't you?"
"Who the hell are you?"
Tatsuya gave a cold, sharp smirk.
"Around here, I'm the only one who gets to ask questions."
"How arrogant! You're nothing but a useless primate."
Tatsuya's smirk didn't waver, but his gaze turned colder than ice. Without a single word of warning, he fired a 'Mist Dispersion' straight at the man, erasing his entire existence from the world.
With the leader gone, Tatsuya moved to clean up the remaining Black Mist with the others. It took a while to finish them all off—partly because of their sheer numbers, but also because their strength was actually nothing to sneeze at.
At the same time, the military was busy defending the venue from a relentless onslaught of mages possessed by the Black Mist.
The situation was far from ideal. The soldiers were doing their best to save as many lives as possible, but it came at a price; several members were heavily injured, and some had even lost consciousness.
Even so, they had no choice but to push through. It wasn't just out of a sense of humanity—they also didn't want the general public to start viewing them as a danger.
The sounds of gunfire and magical explosions were being masked by Mikihiko's spells. Thanks to him, no one except for a few specific individuals had any idea that a life-or-death battle was happening right outside the venue.
Erika grit her teeth, her fists clenched so tight they were shaking.
"Erika-san, please don't go. Tatsuya-sama will be angry," Mizuki said, trying to calm her down in the most effective way she knew how.
At the mere mention of Tatsuya's name, Erika immediately settled down, even though a part of her was still dying to jump out there and join the fight.
Eventually, with the help of mages from the Ten Master Clans, the military managed to subdue all the enemies just a few minutes before the crowd inside the venue began to disperse.
They moved with practiced efficiency, clearing the battlefield and carrying the possessed mages away to be treated.
.....
"Ara~ ara~ that looks like the last of them."
Thud!
Kurumi let out a soft sigh and went to wipe the sweat from her forehead, but Tatsuya stopped her.
"Let me do it."
Kurumi flashed him a playful, teasing smile, but she happily accepted the offer.
Tatsuya's heart skipped a beat as he caught an unusually sweet fragrance drifting from her.
'Is this scent coming from her body? As expected of a 2D character brought to life.'
Kurumi had no idea what Tatsuya was thinking, so she didn't feel embarrassed or upset about him being so close.
Up close, she was even more breathtaking. Once he finished wiping her sweat, Tatsuya found himself lost in a daze, captivated by her beauty.
Kurumi let out a soft giggle, fluttering her beautiful eyes as she waited for him to snap out of it.
"Ahem!" Testarossa coughed abruptly, clearly doing it on purpose to wake Tatsuya up.
"!" Tatsuya startled, feeling a wave of awkwardness wash over him as he realized what he was doing. "Sorry. I didn't mean to stare for so long."
"Ara~ ara~ I don't mind at all."
Kurumi's voice was thick with a mature, teasing tone that was almost dangerously suggestive.
Tatsuya knew she didn't actually mean anything by it, but the way she said it was just too enticing to ignore.
