Chapter 282 - Chapter 281: Let Sato Kill Takagi

Kanjuro's command rang out in the minds of the newly converted Valkyries of the Dark Night like the whisper of the God of Death.

"The purge begins. Target: all male police officers within sight, and all who dare to resist."

Once the order was given, those hundred female police officers who originally symbolized order and protection transformed into the most efficient killing machines. Their eyes were cold and hollow, containing only absolute obedience to Kanjuro. Dark energy condensed in their hands into various weapons—energy blades, dark rays, and even reality-warping force fields.

There was not the slightest hesitation, nor the slightest mercy.

"Ugh, ah—!"

"Why?! Mieko! It's me!"

"Monsters! They've all turned into monsters!"

Screams, cries of disbelief, and roars of despair instantly replaced the previous silence. The Valkyries of the Dark Night were like tigers among a flock of sheep, launching an indiscriminate massacre against the remaining male police officers and those who had just arrived to provide backup, using speed and strength far beyond human limits.

They were familiar with the police's tactics and equipment weaknesses, striking with precision and ruthlessness. Colleagues who once fought side-by-side were now targets that had to be cleared. Dark energy ran rampant, police cars were flipped and exploded, and buildings were easily torn apart as the entire Osaka Police Headquarters and its surrounding areas were reduced to a bloody purgatory in a very short time.

The news seemed to grow wings, spreading rapidly along with the scattered, desperate images that managed to leak from the scene.

"Osaka Police Headquarters has fallen!"

"Hundreds of female police officers have defected! They've turned into devil's minions!"

"A massacre! It's a massacre targeting male police officers!"

"The demon Kanjuro! He controls a non-human army!"

Panic spread like a plague, first through Osaka and then quickly sweeping across the entire country. News agencies were nearly paralyzed, and the internet was a mess of chaos and mourning. Ordinary citizens hid in their homes in terror, while all law enforcement departments, especially the male members, felt a bone-chilling cold.

Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department headquarters.

The atmosphere was as heavy as a block of lead. Inside the emergency high-level meeting room, smoke swirled, and everyone's expression was exceptionally grim. The screen played intermittent and shocking footage coming from Osaka.

"A madman! This is a complete and utter madman!" someone roared, slamming the table.

"Inspector General Hattori... has likely died in the line of duty..."

"Where will he go next? What exactly is his goal?!"

"Will our Tokyo... be his next target?"

Worry and fear permeated the air. The power and cruel methods Kanjuro displayed had completely exceeded the scope of what they could handle. Especially that unit of Valkyries of the Dark Night converted from female police officers made them hesitant to act, creating a massive internal crisis of trust.

And just as the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was in a state of constant alarm, Kanjuro had already brought his core team back to Tokyo silently.

His destination was a hidden Japanese Mansion shrouded by a dark barrier. Hattori Shizuka and Toyama Kazuha followed behind him like shadows, and Toyama Ayame was also among them. Her eyes were exactly the same as Shizuka's and Kazuha's, filled with obsession and obedience toward Kanjuro.

The news of Mr. Kanjuro's return was quickly discovered by Suzuki Sonoko, who was closely monitoring his movements, and she immediately notified Ran Mouri.

When Ran and Sonoko rushed to Mr. Kanjuro's hidden Mansion, they happened to see Mr. Kanjuro stepping out of a black sedan, followed closely by Shizuka, Kazuha, and Ayame. What made their hearts stop even more was that around the Mansion stood dozens of "Valkyries of the Dark Night" in black mutated policewoman uniforms with cold eyes. They guarded the place like statues, exuding a terrifying aura that warned strangers not to approach.

"Brother... Kanjuro?" Ran breathed a sigh of relief seeing Mr. Kanjuro safe and sound, but the eerie formation before her filled her heart with intense unease. Especially seeing the completely unfamiliar looks in the eyes of Kazuha and her mother, as well as those Valkyries exuding a dark aura.

"Kanjuro! Are you alright? About Osaka... those rumors..." Sonoko also asked urgently, her face written with worry.

Mr. Kanjuro stopped his pace, looking at Ran with a calm gaze, while giving Sonoko only a faint glance.

"Ran," he interrupted her, his tone unreadable, "I was never the 'good person' you imagined me to be."

He stepped aside, clearing her line of sight so Ran could more clearly see the murderous dark unit behind him, composed of former policewomen.

"Those rumors are true." His tone was flat, yet it hit Ran's heart like a heavy hammer. "The chaos in Osaka, the deaths of the officers, including these outside... I did it all."

Ran's pupils constricted violently, and her face turned pale instantly. She looked at Mr. Kanjuro's face, still handsome but now utterly strange, saw the expressions of complete approval and even glory on Kazuha, her mother, and Shizuka, and then looked at those hollow-eyed, murderous Valkyries of the Dark Night... A bone-chilling cold rushed from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.

All her worries and all her wishful thinking were shattered at this moment.

"Why... Why... (caaf)..." Her voice trembled, filled with unbelievable pain.

Mr. Kanjuro did not answer, just quietly looking at her, his gaze seemingly saying: "This is the real me."

Ran stumbled back a step, shaking her head; the massive impact of information and the collapse of her beliefs made her almost unable to stand steady.

"I... I need to calm down... I need... to find Mom..."

She murmured as if she had lost her soul, not giving Mr. Kanjuro another look, turning and stumbling away, not even acknowledging Sonoko who was calling her anxiously from the side.

She needed answers, an answer that could explain all of this. And at this moment, the only person she could think of was her mother, the lawyer Eri Kisaki.

Mr. Kanjuro watched Ran's retreating back with a deep gaze that no one could decipher. He turned and, under the respectful watch of the Valkyries of the Dark Night, stepped into the depths of the darkness-shrouded Mansion.

The storm had followed him to Tokyo. And Ran's departure was undoubtedly another fuse lit for the upcoming, more violent conflict. She went to find Eri Kisaki, and Eri... also had an entangled past with Mr. Kanjuro. The veil of truth was being slowly peeled back. Mr. Kanjuro watched Ran stumble away, a nearly imperceptible ripple flashing deep in his eyes, but it soon returned to a deep, unruffled calm. He turned to Suzuki Sonoko, who looked worried yet held a certain determined expectation.

Sonoko took a deep breath, stepped forward, and in a complex low voice that was no longer her usual lively self but instead carried respect and intimacy, said: "Daddy Kanjuro, what... are your plans next?" Her words revealed an even more shocking secret—Kanjuro was actually Suzuki Sonoko's biological father! "The people from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department have been buzzing around our Suzuki Family like flies lately. My sister (Ayako), my mother (Tomoko), and I knew you would definitely come back."

Hearing this, a smile that could truly be called "gentle" appeared on Mr. Kanjuro's face. He reached out, gently pulling Sonoko into his arms and stroking her hair. The gesture was full of the doting nature of a "father," but behind this doting was a chilling darkness.

"Yes, I'm back." His voice was low and magnetic. "Since those annoying flies are still bothering my daughter and my women..." His tone suddenly turned cold, carrying a hint of bloodthirsty pleasure, "Then let's go to your home. We'll go and clear out all those police officers surrounding the Suzuki Family... every last one of them."

He said the words "kill them all" casually, as if he were merely talking about tidying up a courtyard.

Sonoko looked up in his arms, her eyes showing no fear or hesitation, only total trust and adoration. She nodded vigorously: "Yes, Daddy Kanjuro! We are all ready!"

At this time, the Suzuki Family Mansion was no longer its former prosperous and peaceful self. Ever since the "Family Massacre" that shocked the nation (which was actually an obstacle cleared by Mr. Kanjuro to control Tomoko, Ayako, and Sonoko, the only three core females remaining), it had been listed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department as a key target for monitoring and protection. A large number of police forces were deployed around the Mansion, nominally to protect the survivors, but in reality, it was also for surveillance and investigation, attempting to find any clues related to Mr. Kanjuro.

Outside the cordon, Miwako Sato was looking at her colleagues with a complex expression, especially her former friend and partner—Takagi Wataru.

"Takagi," Sato stepped forward, lowering her voice with a hint of imperceptible urgency, "Listen to me, take your people and leave here. Now, immediately."

Takagi Wataru looked at Sato, his eyes filled with pain and confusion: "Sato! What on earth is wrong with you? Ever since that Elementary School Camp Incident investigation went nowhere, you've been like a different person! Not only have you been perfunctory with cases, but you've also... also been getting so close to that Kanjuro! Do you even know what kind of person he is now?!"

A flash of struggle crossed Miwako Sato's face, but it was quickly replaced by a near-obsessive determination. She looked at Takagi and said frankly: "Takagi, it's precisely because I know what kind of person he is that I'm clearer about my choice. I love Kanjuro."

"You love him?!" Takagi Wataru could hardly believe his ears, his voice rising with agitation. "You love a demon who slaughtered over a hundred police officers in Osaka?! Sato, wake up! He's using you! He's controlling you!"

"He is not controlling me!" Sato retorted, yet her tone was exceptionally calm. "I chose him. Takagi, you are an important friend to me, and I don't want to hurt you or make things difficult for you. Leave here; this is my final warning."

Looking at the unquestionable light in Sato's eyes—a light completely different from the one he knew—a cold sense of despair seized Takagi. He realized that the Miwako Sato before him was no longer the woman full of justice whom he was familiar with, admired, and even had a secret crush on.

Just as the two former friends were at a stalemate, a low roar of engines approached from the distance.

Several black sedans, under the escort of a squad of "Valkyries of the Dark Night" in black mutated policewoman uniforms with cold, murderous eyes, ignored the cordon and drove straight toward the Suzuki Family gate! In the center of the motorcade, the window of the limousine slowly rolled down, revealing Mr. Kanjuro's handsome yet demonically heart-stopping face, with Suzuki Sonoko snuggled beside him.

"It's Kanjuro! He's here!!" The police on the perimeter immediately fell into a commotion, and all gun muzzles were instantly aimed at the motorcade.

Takagi Wataru's expression changed drastically. He immediately drew his service pistol and roared: "Stop him! All personnel on alert!!"

However, Miwako Sato suddenly turned around, blocking the space between Takagi and the motorcade. She drew her own service pistol, but the muzzle... was aimed at her former colleagues!

"Everyone, put down your weapons!" Sato's voice was cold and full of deterrence. "Lord Kanjuro is a guest of the Suzuki Family. Any obstructers will be seen as a provocation against the Suzuki Family and Lord Kanjuro, and will be executed on the spot!"

Her words and actions were like the final straw, completely crushing the convictions of all the police personnel on the scene. Even one of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's aces, Miwako Sato, had completely defected!

Takagi Wataru looked at Sato, who was pointing a gun at him, his eyes filled with endless sorrow and absurdity.

Mr. Kanjuro's motorcade did not pause for a second. The Valkyries of the Dark Night, like the most loyal hounds, escorted them on the sides. The dark energy condensing in their hands made all the police feel a suffocating pressure.

Mr. Kanjuro didn't even glance at the tense situation outside. He just gently patted Sonoko's hand and said softly: "We're home."

The motorcade broke through the police blockade line in a grand manner and drove into the Suzuki Family gate.

Behind them were the police, completely plunged into chaos, anger, and despair, along with Miwako Sato's resolute and cold back. Takagi Wataru knew that from this moment on, the nights in Tokyo would be shrouded in deeper blood and darkness. The Suzuki Family, once a commercial empire, had now completely turned into the demon's lair and outpost in Tokyo. Mr. Kanjuro's motorcade, like a black torrent, ignored all obstacles and drove straight into the heavy iron gates of the Suzuki Family, which symbolized wealth and status. The Valkyries of the Dark Night, like the most loyal shadows, quickly dispersed, taking over the perimeter security of the Mansion. Their cold gazes swept over the police officers who were forced to retreat and were fuming with silent rage, as if they were inspecting a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

The gates slowly closed behind the motorcade with a dull thud, as if completely isolating two different worlds.

Outside the gate, only a mess of a cordon remained, along with a group of demoralized, angry, and helpless police officers. Standing at the very front was the despondent Takagi Wataru. The gun in his hand hung powerlessly, his eyes fixed on the tightly closed gate—or more accurately, on Miwako Sato, who still stood outside the gate with her back to them, her gun still faintly pointed at her former colleagues.

Mr. Kanjuro did not enter the depths of the Mansion immediately. He let Sonoko get out and go inside first, while he stood in the courtyard at his leisure, as if admiring an interesting picture. Through the gap in the gate that hadn't fully closed yet, he saw the standoff outside, especially the look in Takagi Wataru's eyes, which was full of pain, confusion, and a hint of stubbornness.

A cruel and playful thought rose in his heart.

He spoke to Miwako Sato outside the gate in a voice that wasn't loud but clearly reached everyone's ears, giving a casual command:

"Miwako."

Sato's body trembled slightly, but she didn't look back, still maintaining her alert posture.

A cold arc hooked at the corner of Mr. Kanjuro's mouth as he continued:

"The way that policeman named Takagi looks at you is very unpleasant."

"Go, kill him."

This command, like a clap of thunder, exploded in the ears of all the police outside the gate!

"Sato! Don't!"

"Miwako! Get a hold of yourself!"

Other police officers cried out in shock and tried to dissuade her.

Takagi Wataru's body jolted violently. He looked at Mr. Kanjuro inside the door in disbelief, then at Sato's back. He didn't feel much fear; instead, he felt a bone-chilling sense of desolation and absurdity.

Miwako Sato remained silent for a full three seconds. To Takagi Wataru, those three seconds felt as long as a century. He could see her knuckles turning white from gripping the gun so tightly, and her shoulders were trembling ever so slightly.

Finally, Sato replied in an unusually calm tone, one that even carried a hint of relief:

"...Yes, Mr. Kanjuro."

She slowly turned around.

This time, her muzzle was no longer pointed at the crowd as a deterrent, but was aimed precisely and steadily at the center of Takagi Wataru's forehead.

Takagi Wataru looked at the woman before him—someone he had fought alongside, supported, and even harbored feelings for—who was now looking at him as if he were already a corpse. The pain and struggle on his face gradually faded, replaced by a deep sorrow and... a sense of understanding.

He didn't beg for mercy, didn't try to persuade her, and didn't even make any gesture to defend himself or dodge. He just quietly watched Sato, looking into those beautiful eyes that once sparkled with justice and passion, but now held only coldness and emptiness.
