Chapter 158 - Chapter 158: Unlucky Maximus

"Stop your actions immediately, or you will be shot dead."

Artoria's undisguised movements finally drew the attention of the Kree soldiers. They cautiously raised their weapons and pointed them at Artoria. Having previously been distracted by the scene of the 'forced abdication,' they now focused their attention entirely on Artoria. Seeing that Artoria had no intention of stopping, the two figures under the helmets simultaneously sneered, and the Beam Guns in their hands, which had claimed countless lives, activated.

"No... come back, older sister."

Crystal, who keenly sensed the Kree's murderous intent, frantically shouted at Artoria. Hearing Crystal's words, Artoria turned her head and smiled, nodding to reassure her. But how could Crystal possibly be reassured by the current situation? Under Crystal's terrified gaze, the fatal beam flew toward Artoria.

"Why couldn't they hold back their attack? To attack without using something to assess the opponent's danger level is clearly foolish. But given their ruthless methods in combat, they truly deserve the title of the Iron-Blooded Kree Empire."

Watching the beam rapidly approach, a beam capable of piercing thick alloy steel plates, Artoria showed no intention of dodging. Mumbling a critique of the Kree's actions, Artoria raised her right hand, aiming it directly at the beam. Everyone thought she was insane, trying to block the weapon with her bare body. The beam quickly struck Artoria, and a dazzling light shone throughout the Royal Hall.

"This is the fate of those who obstruct me from becoming King."

Maximus squinted, looking at Artoria engulfed by the dazzling beam. In his mind, this might be a new Inhuman, and the Kree were preparing to 'kill the chicken to warn the monkeys,' showing everyone the consequences of daring to oppose him. Thinking this, Maximus revealed a bloodthirsty smile.

"Older sister..."

Watching helplessly as Artoria was engulfed by the beam, Crystal sank to the ground in despair. She could feel the threat of Death emanating from the beam. In her memory, few Inhumans could withstand weapons with their bare bodies, so she believed Artoria was certainly dead. This caused her intense heartache, a feeling of being torn apart.

"This thing isn't all that impressive!!"

When the blinding light dissipated, Artoria stood calmly in her original spot. A wisp of smoke brushed over her hand, which was perfectly white with no trace of black charring. This astonished everyone present. This person is terrifying... cough! Who is this powerful, seemingly frail woman who can withstand a beam weapon with her bare body?

"Could there be something wrong with this weapon?"

A Kree warrior, clearly a newcomer to the battlefield who hadn't seen special ability users before, looked at the weapon in his hand with confusion. In the last battle, this weapon had pierced through more than a dozen enemies as if skewering them. Why wasn't it working here? Was the weapon broken?

Compared to the recruit, the veteran's reaction was more intense. He had experience fighting special ability users. The person they encountered this time must be a powerful special ability user. The Universe is full of such powerhouses, people they cannot possibly defeat. However, there is no such thing as a deserter among the Kree; becoming one leads to the most severe punishment.

"Calling Captain, we have encountered..."

"Bang~!"

He quickly called his superior. Losing his life wasn't terrifying; what was truly terrifying was surviving after failing the mission. He instantly understood what he needed to do: contact his superior and let them solve the problem he couldn't handle. Perfect logic. Unfortunately, just as he spoke half a sentence into his communicator, a pure white fist grew larger and larger in his vision. The immense force smashed his helmet flat, and the sharp pain in his face made him instantly pass out. His body was lifted from the ground by the huge force and slammed heavily against the wall behind him, leaving a human-shaped dent in the structure.

"Did I tell you to move? Disgusting."

Shaking off the dark green blood stuck to her hand, Artoria's expression was as if she had touched a fly. When she hadn't seen the blood leaving a living body, Artoria could tolerate it, but facing it directly, she felt like she had poked a pile of shit. She didn't know why she felt this way.

"You, too, get the hell out of here~!"

Seeing the soldier stunned nearby, Artoria felt annoyed. Taking out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from her hand, Artoria delivered a high roundhouse kick straight to the soldier's head. Her long, slender leg traced a beautiful arc in mid-air before whipping heavily into the soldier's body, adding another human-shaped crater to the wall.

"O-Older sister, you scared me."

Crystal, tears welling up in her eyes, rushed up and hugged Artoria's slender waist, burying her head deeply into that large, soft chest and rubbing happily. Fortunately, Artoria was not wearing her Spirit Gear but the tight suit she wore last time she went to Space with Reed, only adding a jacket. Otherwise, if her tears ran onto the soft chest, Artoria would have had to take a bath again.

"There, there, Little Crystal, aren't I fine?"

Looking at the big loli crying for her, Artoria spoke soothingly, though internally, she felt a little secretly pleased. Why do such cute lolis like her so much? It seems she is quite charming. She wondered how many lollipops it would take to hook up with a few little lolis like this—wait... I'm not a loli-con. How could I think of doing such a thing?

Unlike Artoria, who was busy comforting Crystal, Medusa seized the moment while everyone was stunned. She quickly ran to the side of the Throne. Her red long hair began to float, instantly coming alive like suddenly awakened venomous snakes, binding up Maximus, whose smile was gradually fading.

"Untie the things on him, or I'll strangle you to Death~!"

Hair as thick as a finger wrapped around Maximus's neck. The suffocating constriction woke Maximus from his pleasant dream. Then, with great 'backbone,' he surrendered, quickly untying the restraints on Black Bolt. What awaited him was Black Bolt's furious Friendship Face-Breaking Fist.

I accepted your usurpation, and I tolerated your irrational behavior, but you actually colluded with executioners from the Universe to slaughter the civilians of the Inhumans! This is intolerable for anyone. After furiously kicking Maximus, who was lying on the ground, Black Bolt calmed down. Now was not the time to be angry. Many Kree were still attacking Attilan, and they had to be stopped immediately. Thinking of this, he turned his gaze toward Artoria, who was comforting the loli.
